- agrabob, on 10/10/2007, -5/+108I'm sorry your father is being portrayed by Tom Cruise.
Hitler may deserve that, but not a hero. - mrshickadance9, on 10/10/2007, -11/+54hitler was a douche bag
- euphemizeme, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32Hitler was a genocidal, evil, maniac dictator and all... but come on, let's not get carried away. Nobody deserves to be portrayed by Tom Cruise.

- Vodka2389, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I bet you've never even met him...
- Matt-lars, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17Don't you think "Douche Bag" is a bit of an understatement?
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Exactly the point Fieri was trying to make. He did it a little more wittily though.
- katanabane, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15It's too bad they didn't cast Tom Cruise as Hitler
- nebel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11I logged in to digg comment this.
- TalkingBanana, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10What if Hitler had been accepted into art school instead of rejected...
- DarkDragon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I believe the term is "Killing two birds with one stone" not "getting two birds stoned" =P
- omnithought, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Tom Cruise? How is he going to portray this guy? By jumping up and down while shooting lightning from his fingers?

- toxictonic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Hitler, ironically, was actually a fairly good artist....
http://www.snyderstreasures.net/pages/hartworks.htm - xGrill, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6well, if you have EVER played command and conquer, if hilter died, it would cause a chain reaction and leave the whole world in communism
- x00x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The plot by by Claus Von Stauffenberg to kill Hitler was one of the most courageous acts of all time that very nearly damn succeeded,
the circumstances of which would have ended the war in Europe in July 1944 instead of May 1945 and have spared untold number of
lives.
Stauffenberg's meticulous, death-defying plot very well damn succeeded except for two last minute circumstances of fate that otherwise
intervened . The plot required Stauffenberg to place an attache case underneath the heavy oak desk used by Hitler as the centerpiece
for the war strategy in his Central command known as Wolfslair. But before he would place the attache case where he could do the most
damage he had to arm two separate explosive devices in the time he took him to spend no more than the standard few minutes in the
lavatory lest his attract suspicion. The problem was that Stauffenberg lost on arm and several fingers off the remaining hand in a World
War I injury and as a result could arm only one of the bombs. The other serendipitous act of fate was that after placing the case at the
best strategic location, some high ranking official moved it from its ideal position in order to reconfigure his seating position.
The bomb exploded with such impact that the conference room was nearly destroyed killing several high ranking Nazis, Hitler's clothing
was scorched in the process a picture of him holding his shredded clothing bear witness to Hitler's miraculous escape as a result of two
incidents that intervened with such profoundly fateful circumstances.
The prime conspirators were all eventually rounded up, found guilty and were hanged with piano wire to prolong their death throes, a film of
which was ordered by Hitler presumably for his private showing.
Stauffenberg was apprehended soon afterwards and executed on sight. - blackjack75, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Oh Godwin's Law in action. It all starts with a friendly babbling and but I know how it's going to end... a few post laters you'll be calling Hitler a a Nazi !
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Hey, this story is just a public relations plant by the producers of the Tom Cruise movie to get advance publicity. They paid a reporter to get this into the Times Online UK. von Stauffenberg didn't just wake up one morning and come forward spontaneously after many years to say "I want to talk about my dead father". The producers needed to drum up support in the press so that Germany wouldn't kick Cruise out of the country. Making this look like popular history was the method.
- lukehh, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6you're going to go so very very down
- angilinmago, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7"almost" doesn't mean anything, 0 and 1 sound so close, but they are infinitely apart.
- XxATAROTHxX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4well, he's getting there.
- humpy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Yeah, I'd classify him more as a Douche Nozzle. The business end of the douche bag.

- nwoantibody, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Where is Claus von Stauffenberg when you need him?
- XxATAROTHxX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Bin Laden didn't blow up the projects....
- reddevil3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Captain Obvious to the rescue.
- pennvneff, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I can't believe only 40 percent of Germans approved of the Nazi resistance in 1992. I'd like to think it would be 100%. That whole part of braking an oath and betraying Germany was somewhat troubling. You would think that Germans would have figured out that blindly following orders based on some nationalistic sentimentality is what got them into trouble in the first place. Even more astonishing is the fact that people miss the most important lesson to be learned from World War II. Sure it's easy to pace all of the blame on Hitler or the Nazi party, but there was noway he or the Nazi's could have done so much damage without the blind obedience of the German people. The horrors of World War II couldn't have happened unless you had an entire nation of people who willingly fell for the lie.

- santaliqueur, on 10/10/2007, -6/+9Yep, because Bush knowingly exterminated millions. Enough with the Bush/Hitler stuff, ***** morons.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"Only difference is Tom Cruise brainwashes people through Scientology and Htiler did it through his evil regime."
No. Tom Cruise brainwashes people through Xenu Scientology and Hitler brainwashed people through Evolutionology.

What are the textbooks teaching today? - hexx54, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7@mrshickadance9
blunt, and to the point. well said! - KaneDragon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You mean an extension on Godwin's Law?
- bugsy187, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It's amazing how much Cruise looks like Claus von Stauffenberg.
- Vodka2389, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Wikipedia says that he objected it morally, therefore, the article is mistaken.
- donkeyshow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2your mom is a dirty pirate whore. And i banged her hard, and left her alone on the bed with nothing but an eyepatch and a mouth full of...posion sausage!
- williamdyer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Will you sing the same tune after Bush invades Iran?
- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It might have avoided the particular issues of racial cleansing etc. and the whole "master race" stuff, even if Germany remained nationalist and expansionist.
- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://xkcd.com/261/
- neio, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Great, another movie celebrating failure.
- OnoTadaki, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Did you actually look over that page? Hitler's art is horrific. It's about on par with the kind of art you see in Hospitals and elevators. His composition, use of colors, technique, etc... are all horribly poor.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Do yourself a favour,
http://www.hitler.org/writings/Mein_Kampf/ - kd1s, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Claus von Stauffenberg should be a national hero in Germany. Funny how the real patriots never get the glory.
Germany is an interesting case though. Up until the late 19th century it was comprised of a number of smaller states. -
