His seems to be a common name according to a google. He once came in second for a National Association of Hispanic Publications award for Outstanding Editorial Cartoon. I couldn't find much else about him.

I don't agree with "why not let them take it to work", mainly because, oh, I don't know, an argument starts and tempers rise, one colleague pops off and fills another with a hollow-tip. Not a good idea.
I don't know the American gun law(s) well, but gun prohibition doesn't sound like it would work. Only because it's too late. It has worked well in Australia, and we have few gun related deaths because they were never supported in the first place. Handguns were banned a few years ago too. Sure you can get one if you live on a farm, and need it for hunting, other than that you have to be in a club of some sort to get one. All Police officers carry one though.
And I'm not sure if you realised, but he was holding a toy gun. - jlbraun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@daza
"I don't know, an argument starts and tempers rise, one colleague pops off and fills another with a hollow-tip. "
The gun-banners here said much the same thing about concealed carry holders and road rage: "Fender benders will turn into murders, and blood will run in the streets" Hasn't happened. Period.
Your argument is exactly the same, and I have the same answer: Won't Happen. The crime rate for CCW holders is so low that Texas closed their office that was founded to track it.
Wait, hasn't your violent crime rate gone UP ever since you guys banned guns? How's that gun ban working for you? - diktator279, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm digging this, even though you stole my digg points :-p
This was the coverage from the Miami Herald itself when they evacuated: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/16090116.htm - jlbraun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Why do so many "gunman holds hostages" and "gunman kills colleagues" stories happen in areas where guns are forbidden by law or corporate policy? Answer me that. Post offices. Schools. Corporate buildings with a stated no-guns policy. Why don't mass shootings happen at gun shows? Lots of guns there!
Why not just allow everyone to carry at work? - Rabbethan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Update on the story:
I was watching the news down here in Miami around 5pm, and they said that it seems he was actually using a fake gun. - lobsang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That's what happens when you dropped unwanted newspapers on people's driveways.
- dextroz, on 10/12/2007, -16/+1who ***** cares!?
