- supernovasky, on 04/20/2009, -25/+409Legalize it, tax it, regulate it.
Happy 4/20 everyone. Lets make this one count! - CopsSayLegalize, on 04/20/2009, -16/+342"Pro marijuana" is the wrong framing, and isn't going to convince anyone who's not already on board. We need to talk about improving the economy and public safety by ending prohibition, not how awesome you think marijuana might be.
- sheeplescareme, on 04/20/2009, -18/+249that's a great advertisement.
if we're ever going to legalize, now is the time. - automagnus, on 04/20/2009, -7/+167It looked like a good commercial until they started laughing at the end. We have to stop taking a serious issue and make a joke out if it.
- Yousty, on 04/20/2009, -7/+161I love everything about it except the laughing at the end of the commercial. Almost makes it seem like a joke. Cut out those 2 seconds and it's an excellent commercial.
- novenator, on 04/20/2009, -11/+114step by step people. This is a damn good step.
- smack1700, on 04/20/2009, -13/+102“Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is the destruction.”
-Bob Marley - sdcarter, on 04/20/2009, -2/+80Actually, over time, I've been persuaded. When I was younger I was very anti-drug and I believed the gateway hype. Now I believe that, although marijuana may be more potent today than it was in the past, if we were to treat marijuana the same way we treat alcohol it would be fine. A person has the right to do whatever he or she wants to himself or herself, as long as it doesn't infringe on others rights as well. Crime would go down, although I suspect drug dealers will just move on to selling more dangerous drugs. Agricultural jobs would be created. People in pain, who are taking medicine that makes them sick and curbs their appetite, would have an alternative pain treatment that might help them maintain a healthy weight. I'm not saying it's a wonder plant; but it has the potential to help lots of people.
If we treat it like alcohol, legalizing it might work. - sirjimithy, on 04/20/2009, -3/+78If it is going to be legalized (or not), the decision should be based on facts and real statistics, not on "popular opinion" which has been perpetuated by stereotypes and fear tactics.
And I agree with CopsSayLegalize. Nobody is going to legalize it based on a bunch of stoners pumping their fists in enthusiasm. - emildorbell, on 04/20/2009, -4/+77That's one of the reasons it should be legalized.
- tgjerusalem, on 04/20/2009, -2/+55Because if there was a safe and legal regulated market, there would be no cartel violence.
- Spo8, on 04/20/2009, -4/+52I wish they didn't have those stupid last two seconds.
- FrequencyX, on 04/20/2009, -1/+49Should be
Get up Stand up.. Stand up for your rights... - saltydawkins, on 04/20/2009, -3/+50Did you watch the ad?
- removesstains, on 04/20/2009, -1/+45That wouldn't help, what they need to do is play it during shows that old people and women watch. Like American Idol, CSI, The Bachelor, Dr Phil, Oprah and crap like that. Thats the audience that needs to see the light.
- jeremymccurdy, on 04/20/2009, -6/+49It's a great advertisement, but they could have done without the giggling in the background at the end.
- scuba7183, on 04/20/2009, -4/+46the last 2 seconds completely ruined the entire ad
- dbz253, on 04/20/2009, -6/+46i suggest you stay off of digg for the day
- smotpoker, on 04/20/2009, -2/+41The goal isn't to buy it fool, it's to possess it without a high risk of getting beat down by cops, losing your family and ruining your career.

demand that they re-introduce, support and pass HR 5843
Which ends the federal ban on adult use of marijuana-cannabis.
There is another bill being supported by law enforcement against prohibition, www.leap.cc and it calls for an overall review of the war on drugs and criminal justice system, S 714 the National Criminal Justice Act of 2009.
Illegal (prohibition) = Al Capone, Mexican drug wars, profits to street gangs, and uncontrolled access to all ages groups.
Legalization = we, the people, control the production, distribution, and age access limits.
Criminal profits dry up overnight with the end of prohibition- as they did after the end of the disastrous alcohol prohibition.
$69 Billion will be wasted on this prohibition this year.
All DEA claims of harm from cannabis-marijuana use have been discredited,
Marijuana Myths Marijuana Facts by Lynn Zimmer and Dr. John Morgan
www.drugwarfacts.org, are just 2 of many sites and books with the facts.
Marijuana, in its natural form, is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man
quote from: DEA Administrative Law Judge Francis L. Young 9/6/88
1972 Shafer Commission, stated: prohibition is worse than marijuana
1972 The National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse stated: marijuana's dangers had been grossly overstated.
1972 Le Dain Commission stated: Remove cannabis-marijuana completely from the Narcotics Control Act ( Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) with regulation similar to alcohol.
1982 World Health Organization
found no injury of biological harm, psychological impairment, or social dysfunction from moderate cannabis use.
1995 British medical journal Lancet:
the smoking of cannabis, even long term, is not harmful to health.
2007 Dr. Aaron M. White, Duke University Medical Center, Newsweek June 25, 2007
The science is clear that alcohol is more dangerous than marijuana.
As stated in Marijuana Myths Marijuana Facts by Lynn Zimmer and Dr. John Morgan :
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) funds research to find harm from marijuana...studies showing no effect, or a positive effect related to marijuana are ignored completely. - diggdowner, on 04/20/2009, -0/+33I saw that ad months ago with that damn laugh. I was hoping they had the sense to remove it by now.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 04/20/2009, -3/+36No because if it were legal we wouldn't be buying from illegal sources.
It's not our job to stop smoking weed. It's the government's job to let us grow our own. That's a more realistic solution.
We don't care if it's illegal. We don't care where it comes from. We're going to keep smoking it. So if you're concerned about the drug cartels your best bet is to jump on the pro marijuana bandwagon and get it legalized. - HonestAbe, on 04/20/2009, -1/+34And that's exactly what makes it a gateway drug. Kids grow up hearing "drugs are bad" "drugs are bad", and then their friends start smoking pot, having a great time, and not being in any kind of danger. Then they think "hey maybe drugs aren't so bad after all".
The problem is that the mostly harmless drugs are lumped all together with the seriously harmful ones. - DankBuddz, on 04/20/2009, -1/+33Well, only because I'm looking at the profile pic of you and your girlfriend.
- Rain12913, on 04/20/2009, -0/+32Yeah I was wondering why they did that too. It seemed like an attempt to market towards the very group of people who already support legalization, not the older, more conservative people who they should be going after.
Also, I'm all for gay rights and everything, but what makes them think that associating Marijuana with gay people is going to help them change the minds of the social moderates and conservatives who still think it should be illegal? - RumpleForeskin3, on 04/20/2009, -5/+36They should have played it during last nights Family Guy
- MomentDEFINED, on 04/20/2009, -3/+32I don't think that's what this video is saying.
- inactive, on 04/20/2009, -0/+28I had a similar experience - as a kid, I was brought up on all that DARE *****, and so I always saw pot as this evil, sinister thing. I don't even know why, I had just been told it was bad, that the very concept of a substance that alters your mind is a very bad thing. Then in high school, as a result of a long, drawn out debate on an online forum, I came to realize that I was being an idiot, and that there is really no good reason for having laws against marijuana.
- inactive, on 04/20/2009, -1/+28I don't smoke weed, I don't even like it, but I will support its legalization, because I believe its the right thing to do.
- Vaiper, on 04/20/2009, -6/+32I suggest you read titles before clicking on the link.

Holy *****... arguing on the Internet works!! - PhilliesBlunt, on 04/20/2009, -1/+26Who says that they need to be in opposition? A beer goes great with a blunt!
- jackalope50, on 04/20/2009, -1/+23Get jobs at Kinkos.
- OneRottenTomato, on 04/20/2009, -5/+27Sell pot legitimately and pay taxes on their profits, just like microbreweries.
- megaton, on 04/20/2009, -2/+24I don't much care for the ad. If they're trying to appeal to the population opposing legalization, I think they should have used people that didn't look so... liberal. (?)
I just couldn't help thinking the whole time I was watching it, "My mom would dismiss these people as arrogant bleeding-hearts in an instant."
I'd liked to have seen a family element in-play in the ad. Maybe remove the bit about homosexuality (no sense in building walls when you're trying to tear them down). Maybe had a less negative aesthetic overall.
My two cents. - crackerjohn, on 04/21/2009, -0/+21they edited it out
- skatealex1, on 04/20/2009, -1/+21I heard they cut out the last 2 seconds for the ads on tv and the norml logo is shown instead!
- DentThat, on 04/21/2009, -1/+21FTA:
[UPDATE: Yes, the part at the end where the young lady giggles has been edited out for the airing on TV. I will work to find a copy to place on our site. -- Russ Belville, National Outreach Coordinator] - Metavised, on 04/20/2009, -1/+21I guess thats why I buy domestic. Home grown is the only way to go.
- mockupscaledown, on 04/20/2009, -2/+22As long as home growing and buyers' clubs are legal, then fine, but it bothers me when people make the appeal for legalization with an attached permission slip for business and government to bend us over. I want to purchase locally grown, community supported grass, not a Marlboro product.
- angelsfreeek, on 04/20/2009, -0/+20Ironically, they ran anti-drug commercials during Family Guy last night.
- smack1700, on 04/20/2009, -2/+22Is it really about politics? Think about just the effects of the drugs themselves.
Alcohol can lead to overdose and death. Drunk driving has killed thousands of innocent lives.
Not saying that driving under the influence of Marijuana is a good thing, but it's hard to try and make the argument that alcohol should be legal (the more dangerous drug) and marijuana should not. - ImportCarParts, on 04/20/2009, -9/+29The time has come for a change in America. Please spread the good word. Write letters to your state and federal representatives, send letters to the editor of local newspapers, radio stations, and TV stations. With a larger and louder voice we can get this done.
- Frankyfan3, on 04/20/2009, -2/+21I can only hold my erection with the very tips of my fingers, and then just barely.
Some of us are female, fyi. - tizle, on 04/20/2009, -4/+23I wonder if this would even be an issue if the economy wasn't in such a bad state. That said, if the people proposing this law want it to go through, they need to focus on states where there are already a number of people who support this. Those states will have to serve as an example for others to follow. If a couple of states do it successfully, the others will follow.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 04/20/2009, -1/+19That is such a hot visual ;x
Which is weird because we're talking about a girl holding her erection. - pacman122, on 04/20/2009, -3/+21It's a good commercial but laughing at the end totally ruins it. I don't know what they are smoking over there at NORML.
- Rain12913, on 04/20/2009, -1/+18Uh....aren't you on Digg right now?
Also, what kinds of cool recreational drugs do you do if weed is so lame? - inactive, on 04/20/2009, -1/+18***** that, I just don't want to see my tax money being wasted prosecuting pot-smokers. If you can't understand that, you've got serious issues.
