- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -2/+77Umm....very inaccurate title. Banging on the gates is not exactly "Storming the Embassy"
- whataboutdave, on 12/03/2007, -10/+36Innacurate. They banged on the door. If anyone actually tried to storm a US embassy they would get a hot serving of lead courtesy of the United States Marine Corps.
- duggtodeath, on 12/03/2007, -32/+58American soldiers raping little brown people? Preposterous! Next you will tell me that America starts illegal wars that result in the deaths of over 3,000 soldiers and some 40,000 casualties. As if!
- etsa, on 12/03/2007, -8/+33Sensationalism in the title.
Buried. - taxman, on 12/03/2007, -2/+20I live in city which has a couple of US Army base and can attest to the fact that these guys are scum. I have seen them harassing people,Shoplifting, running away without paying cab fare(that one i did not witness) and get into a lot of bar fights(that one i have witnessed more than once). These are things a lot of people do when drunk but the difference between them and guys in the Army is that these guys are a representation of US. Plus, they are always in a big group and are "trained to kill"(Exact words used by one of them in a Bar).
Not all of them are like that but when the majority of them here are in their late teens or early twenties. which skews the "drunken *****" even further. - limbo1334, on 12/03/2007, -12/+24Footage of the incident:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU - Cornloaf, on 12/03/2007, -0/+12The soldier was already found guilty in a court of law. The US and Philippine governments worked out a deal to hold him at the US Embassy until his appeals were finished. Shortly after his conviction, the US threatened to cancel a joint military exercise with the Philippines. The prisoner was transferred from law enforcement to the US Embassy in the middle of the night almost a year ago.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subic_rape_case - lukeydukey, on 12/03/2007, -4/+15Sigh, as a filipino, If you think that title is sensationalist, you should really try reading filipino newspapers, no better than a tabloid at the local supermarket.
- benjpw, on 12/03/2007, -3/+11I dare any American to walk into Subic Bay in South Korea and see how well they like the US. Its a shame the US Military ignores the problems of sex crime, sex work, and rape around US military instillations. Not only is it morally wrong but it doesn't make sense in geo-political terms - the actions of soldiers directly represent the United States of American - on and off duty.
Right now in Subic Bay there are 32,000 half American children who don't blend with Korean society who are being told by missionaries that "daddy will come take you to America one day". They are an ever present reminder of the problems surronding sex, the military, and foreign countries. - Kikkomann, on 12/03/2007, -3/+11(Just a big "if ever") I don't see any reason why this should reach the front page. For what reason? Sensationalism? Awareness? People "storming" US embassies (or any embassy for that matter) around the world isn't new; mobs "attack" foreign embassies for varying reasons - for peace, cry for justice, etc. More importantly, the issue being discussed in the article is old. Case has been settled, justice served. My countrymen, the Filipino people, just want to aggravate the whole scenario. Our president does not want to destroy any ties with the U.S. government, and at the same time not wanting to lose face to her countrymen. So to all my Filipino brethren, suck it up. This is the best thing we can get in our current justice system.
- humanerror, on 04/03/2008, -2/+10Same thing happened in Japan. Several times.
- zephc, on 12/03/2007, -1/+8Which is the point - it's how some people who still have a colonial mindset view those who were colonized.
- brain1976, on 12/03/2007, -0/+7Subic Bay isn't in South Korea.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 12/03/2007, -0/+5If he's guilty and not convicted? What then?
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -0/+5Republicans are little inbreds.
- duggtodeath, on 12/03/2007, -3/+8It wasn't meant to offend. Some Americans believe that non-whites simply aren't people. And that's ***** up.
- Apoy, on 12/03/2007, -2/+7The point is these marines didn't get the punishment they should get because they are "Americans".
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -1/+6If he's guilty, and he was convicted, he's a disgrace to his country.
- Apoy, on 12/03/2007, -1/+5Face the truth. Americans always do that.
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -8/+12duggtodeath, don't call the filipinos "little brown people". you're a racist.
- nooreazy, on 12/03/2007, -1/+5Just when i thought it died
- Pureeviljester, on 12/03/2007, -4/+8F... U..
- markperia, on 12/03/2007, -0/+4The court has decided that he was guilty over a year ago.
- Hermiod, on 12/03/2007, -5/+9You presume. It is simply not acceptable to assume guilt, especially not in a rape case. The world would be a better place if people would just let the courts decide before making up their minds.
- Apoy, on 12/03/2007, -1/+4I agree.
- Progression, on 12/03/2007, -0/+3I was one of the lucky ones (my father married my mother). It's disgusting how Korean culture treats half American children. Like second class citizens. I didn't realize this until I met this Korean chick from California. She laughed at me when I told where I was from and my heritage. The worst feeling ever.
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -0/+3Way to have your head up your ass.
Hey, next time try to be more of a dick. - jmpeagle, on 12/03/2007, -10/+13maybe he likes the French system of justice where you are guilt until proven innocent
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -0/+3From what I read, he has been convicted. They wont hand him over. Not saying that they necessarily should, it's not like the US doesn't have laws against rape to enforce on it's own citizens.
- 3tcp, on 12/03/2007, -0/+3but you're still stupid enough to click youtube links?
- Celeron, on 12/03/2007, -1/+3damn you limbo! got me good.
- econojon, on 12/03/2007, -3/+5My dirty mind read it as "Filipino Prostitute Storms US Embassy!" and I was like "About time!"
- cerealjynx, on 12/03/2007, -0/+2Someone has to say it right.
...What? I'm not gonna do it. - IllBeBack, on 12/03/2007, -0/+2I think you're missing an X there, chief.
- badassninja, on 12/03/2007, -0/+2Wrong site, your thinking of the wow forums.
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -1/+3Your very comment shows that you have no idea who real Marines are.
- zenetik, on 12/03/2007, -0/+2Sounds a bit sensationalist to me. I don't know if pounding on a gate with fists and a single brick really constitutes "storming" an embassy. Maybe if they ripped a hood ornament off an embassy car or, I don't know, broke through the gates and ransacked the embassy then we'd have a legitimate embassy storming.
- bratterscain, on 12/03/2007, -4/+6Yeah, grab a gun and go show them how much of a loser they are.
- mhearne, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1So, are you attempting to imply that most American Troops are White these days? That hasn't been the case for many years.
- Frnnkdlxx, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1I'm 6'7.... So maybe YOU should STFU...
- c0baltfish, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1.....Why?
- inactive, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1And aside from your terrible use of the english language, your evidence for them being "backward bastards" would be???
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -1/+2Lol, the fact that both adjectives are generally correct is irrelevant.
- DesertDude, on 12/03/2007, -7/+8Well, considering that Marines specialize in rape and murder, this is not a surprising story.
- iet2004, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1congratulations? were you also a power ranger for Halloween?
- mhearne, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Americans do not control their government. What an insult. It's been that way since around 1980, so don't blame the American people for what the government does.
[ - pacdude, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1Agreed. Let's show respect.
- p5yph3r, on 12/03/2007, -1/+2WTF are you talking about? Subic Bay is in the Philippines.
- pacdude, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1Doesn't make it right, *****.
