- DerangedPenguin, on 04/27/2008, -1/+4It seems that every generation since the founding of this country has stepped in to uphold the ideals that we call the "American Values." Values that go beyond our borders and extend a hand to those who are oppressed, tired and without hope. Bringing freedom, energy and hope. Sometimes there departure from family, loved ones and friends means paying the ultimate sacrifice, sometimes it means going home with life time wounds, sometimes it is just time apart. These sacrifices big and small are what makes us as a people something special in history.
- empirefalling, on 04/27/2008, -3/+2So many lives lost over oil and the need for one sick US dictators revenge. 2,850,000 Iraqi and Afghanistan citizens have died at the hands of these so called “faces of valor”. Bush and his criminal entourage have destroyed not only the lives of these people of “valor” but the lives of countless innocent men, women and children who knew nothing of the US and nothing of the so called “terror attack” on 9/11/2001. America has dropped to a level of barbarianism not seen since the Fascists of Germany in the 1930’s. No one is proud of butchers and sex fiends occupying countries that had no ability to attack anything. The greatest “attacks” these people were capable of performing were small skirmishes amongst themselves over dusty plots of land and maybe ownership of a few domestic animals. America and Americans are despised the world over. This will begin to change as these men and women of “valor” are brought back to their homes in the US over the next 2 years by your next Leader, Barack Obama. It will take decades to repair the damage brought about by these men and women of “valor”. The US owes a great apology to the World Body and to the peoples of Afghanistan and Iraq for the death and destruction it has brought upon peace and justice.
- Superperson, on 04/28/2008, -1/+3If I know Digg, this'll turn into a huge sniping contest about the Iraq war.
In all the argument about it between pundits and ordinary citizens alike, it's important to remember the true "faces" of war: the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day in the name of their country. That's true courage. - gypsi, on 04/28/2008, -3/+3people never seem to learn that putting these people on a pedestal only glorifies war and the cycle continues
- novaculus, on 04/28/2008, -1/+1gypsi-
Without "these people" self-righteous, ungrateful fools like you wouldn't have the privileged existence you are presently enjoying. Freedom is not free, but parasites like you apparently have no problem denigrating those who put their lives on the line so you can enjoy freedom. - sfacets, on 04/28/2008, -1/+1Valour in the eyes of hostile sheep.
