insidecharmcity.com — A campaign to get websites and blogs to remove links to the Drudge Report because of Matt Drudge putting the life of Prince Harry and other British soldiers at risk by revealing that Harry was in Afghanistan.

  • ssn697, on 02/29/2008, -2/+19I can't support this, no matter how much I dislike Drudge. He didn't really "break" any story, or put Harry in danger. The same day he "broke" the story, ABC News did a long piece about Harry in Afghanistan. They said where he was, what he had been doing, etc. They had been there filming the story for several days.

    At the end of the story, they said Harry was going to leave, because ABC had now "blown his cover". All Drudge did was get a sniff of the story a few hours before it aired, basically.

    PUH-LEASE don't take this as me supporting Drudge. I just think the malice is misplaced in this case...
    • ssn697, on 02/29/2008, -0/+9Well how do you do! The ABC News piece was actually a BBC piece kept on ice. They ran it after the news came out. They did a nice job (in the piece I saw) making it seem like it was their story.

      So, it has been rumored since Jan 15th. A German mag printed something about it. Then an Aussie mag prints it, Drudge gets a hold of it, and makes it REALLY known. Anything for a story, eh "journalists"?!?!?

    Where was their outrage when the NY Times plastered classified info all over their front page?
    Drudge, Newsweek or any other media should be ashamed of themselves, but don't let these media whores fool you into thinking they care.

          It is hard for me to really care Hamas shoots rockets into Israel when the Palestinians are raped and murdered daily by the Israeli army. You can only subjugate a population for so long when it finally bites you in the ass. And Israel is running out of ass.

He's a clearing house, a conduit for information, not an actual address on the intarwebs. The only way to "drop" him is to not read him in the first place, or just never h/t him.
