Interesting... just a short time ago he couldnt keep his mouth shut. - Ozzsanity, on 07/12/2009, -15/+172DICK Cheney has done more harm to the USA than Osama could have ever dreamed of.
- Rotzooi, on 07/11/2009, -20/+166President Obama, I know you read Digg, please do the right thing: PROSECUTE THIS MONSTER!
- WinkyMcGee, on 07/11/2009, -13/+117What a Dick.
- RagManX, on 07/11/2009, -11/+101So wait - VP Cheney knows about a gov't project which involved the CIA and executive branch lying to Congress, and he won't talk about it? And we're surprised? Color me shocked. And I always though Mr. Cheney was above reproach when it came to his honesty and integrity.
- TobiasParker, on 07/12/2009, -4/+63I honestly do not understand how the *Vice* President was ordering anyone to do anything. He has no power under the constitution except to break ties in the senate.
- JasonCox, on 07/12/2009, -8/+64Jon Stewart is going to have a field day with this... I can't wait!
- cmost, on 07/12/2009, -18/+71Excuse my ignorance, but Cheney and Bush are still free men...why? It's all but accepted that Cheney was the "Senator Palpatine" behind the Bush administrations darkest plans. He needs to be picked up and placed on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Where are the Jedi when you need them?
- Iruka, on 07/12/2009, -10/+57You guys cannot act surprised on this one. He also bloody outed a CIA agent on purpose for the sake of saving face. WTF!
- njb444, on 07/12/2009, -11/+52Cheney is one nasty *****.
- inactive, on 07/12/2009, -10/+50Cheney needs to be water boarded to find out what he knows.
- publiclurker, on 07/12/2009, -10/+44What crimes, ridding at the front of the bus?
- NorthMass, on 07/12/2009, -6/+40Dick Cheney obviously didn't respect the Constitution, but how does Obama? What has Obama done to overturn the Patriot Act, or FISA, or anything else that Bush helped pass through?
- biotch, on 07/12/2009, -3/+36hes.... more machine than man now
- WBWB, on 07/12/2009, -1/+31He didn't always hide behind a curtain when he was vice president. If there was a falsehood that he wanted to put out there to be spread around as fact, he would first leak it to the press, and then he would go on the Sunday morning talk shows to talk about it and make reference to his own leak as proof that what he was saying was true!
- charlietuna, on 07/12/2009, -6/+36Obama is and always will be a lightweight compared to Sith Lord Cheney.
- DavidCEisen, on 07/12/2009, -1/+31This is actually a good point. Bush and Cheney were, no doubt, worse than Obama, but just last week the Obama administration released documents stating their belief that they could continue to hold acquitted detainees--which is pretty ***** up.
- HappyScrappy, on 07/12/2009, -5/+34How unexpected!
- rabidjester, on 07/12/2009, -4/+33How does a VP have the power to do this under the Constitution? I'm not being snarky, it's an honest question. This isn't the only example, either.
- CloakandSwagger, on 07/12/2009, -1/+28Normal/Sane Person's Response: He doesn't.
Dick Cheney's Response: I'd like to take you hunting with me. - m3arvk, on 07/12/2009, -0/+26Very interesting. Do you have a source for any of that?
- njb444, on 07/12/2009, -1/+27Short answer: He doesn't.
- dafragsta, on 07/12/2009, -8/+33Blah, blah, blah, blah.... when are we gonna see some charges filed, dammit? It's only frustrating to read about corruption so many times and never read about any formal investigations or indictments.
- gernblansted, on 07/12/2009, -2/+26He headed the committee to select the Vice President before he admitted he only ever considered himself. He promised a shot at the Vice Presidency for the most powerful politicians in America who would be vetted to a degree possibly never before experienced (by his orders), and about 100 or so of the most powerful politicians in America gave him all the dirt on themselves. Then, when he finally admitted he only ever really considered himself, he took all those skeletons from the biggest power brokers and put them in his man sized safe, to be used against any who did not do his bidding lest their careers be destroyed. Then, he went forward without any immediate worries of not being actively backed by almost everyone who mattered at the time. Of course, now the other party is in power, so he has much less to work with when it comes to "influencing" those around him to protect him. In addition, many in his own party whose necks were noosed by his scam are more than willing to quietly stand aside and watch him wither now.
- charlietuna, on 07/12/2009, -2/+25Well, at least the right side if his mouth... the man looks as though he had a stroke.
- hiphoc, on 07/12/2009, -4/+26As Constitutional professor Turley said on Olbermann. Not prosecuting Bush and Cheney would mean Obama has committed a war crime.
- Presbyterian, on 07/12/2009, -5/+24As if the CIA has ever been an honorable or honest organization.
- LedZepAddict, on 07/12/2009, -1/+18Seriously, the man hides behind a curtain during his Vice-Presidency, then is all over within the first few months of the new Administration, only to vanish again.
- matt77, on 07/12/2009, -2/+19... twisted and evil.
- Napiertt, on 07/12/2009, -1/+17Apparently the program's name was Treadstone
- TheVoxHumanus, on 07/12/2009, -1/+17well the short (and only right) answer is...
He doesn't. - DavidCEisen, on 07/12/2009, -2/+18"High-level N.S.A. officials who were responsible for ensuring that the surveillance program was legal, including the agency’s inspector general and general counsel, were not permitted by Mr. Cheney’s office to read the Justice Department opinion that found the eavesdropping legal, several officials said."
What the *****? - GorfTron, on 07/12/2009, -5/+20How much will it take to indict this guy?
- AngustheCat, on 07/12/2009, -0/+14He's also continuing Bush's philosophy of presidential post-acquittal detention power with regard to Gitmo detainees. Plus there are rumors that they might keep that facility open past the January '10 deadline: http://washingtonindependent.com/49886/johnson-ope ...
But if no one outside the ACLU is going to raise these concerns, then we shouldn't expect any real changes. So wake the ***** up Democrats (and other concerned parties). Just because our guy won doesn't mean we should stay silent on issues that are important to us and US. - biotch, on 07/12/2009, -5/+19asami21
I know its going to take a while since we've been conditioned for 8 years to focus on one thing at a time. But try to imagine a world where people contemplate multiple issues at a time. - DavidCEisen, on 07/12/2009, -0/+14Oh hey...last time I checked, there were these things called checks and balances and the executive branch is not above the legislative branch.
I bet a month ago you were bitching about Pelosi saying that the CIA misled Congress, whereas now you are bitching because the CIA should be able to misled Congress. - biotch, on 07/12/2009, -2/+16Agreed... His support for FISA is one of the most mind numbingly frustrating failures of Obama's.
Obama is not supporting torture though.... thats one of the things Bush pushed through that Obama is stopping. - tech4crat, on 07/12/2009, -2/+16is it? we bombed as many Iraqi's in one day, for 14 continous days in baghdad. Idiot.
compare the WTC casualty list to the millions of people affected by Dicks' biomedical experiments, drugs and cheating. you need to get yourself a dildo with 'cheney' embossed on it, and have it drilled up your arse. wait, you already have.
i am not saying that the WTC casualty needs to be ignored, but its a small tiny drop of water in an ocean. - biotch, on 07/12/2009, -5/+19http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/pres ...
Aw man! 57 to 39!! Hurry distract them by going back in time and getting Cheney to conceal torture from our congress.
"totally unqualified for the job given him"
Perfectly qualified?.... maybe not ... "totally unqualified?" absolutely not.
Panetta served as President Bill Clinton's White House Chief of Staff from 1994 to 1997 and was a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1977 to 1993. He is the founder and director of the Panetta Institute, served as Distinguished Scholar to Chancellor Charles B. Reed of the California State University System and professor of public policy at Santa Clara University.

Chiefs of staff are included in daily presidential intelligence briefings... He was also the director of the Office of Management and Budget which deals directly with the nation's most secret intelligence-collection and covert-action programs.
Sounds qualified to me. - humptyz, on 07/12/2009, -4/+18That is one evil *****.
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 07/12/2009, -0/+13Waiting to see the right wingnuts continue to try and justify this Stalinist behavior...
- CosmicSurfer, on 07/12/2009, -2/+14He didn't, and Still doesn't, give a rat's ass...He is the great and Powerful DICK Cheney...Lord of all he commands....Omnipotent ***** of the universe...Or so he believes and apparently the congress, DOJ and president want him to get by with it
- BobSagetFan, on 07/12/2009, -0/+12I don't think anyone's surprised about Cheney being a douche. I think we're more surprised that he hasn't been indicted yet.
- NorthMass, on 07/12/2009, -2/+14He still supports sending detainees to overseas prisons where torture is legal, and the torture is worse than what happens in Gitmo.
- areyouserial, on 07/12/2009, -0/+11Obama was also happy to grant immunity to the telcos who continue to cooperate with the NSA's program which systematically violates the law to this day with impunity, literally.
- bullhead2007, on 07/12/2009, -0/+11He's probably hiding out in a 7 star condo in Dubai with his Haliburton buddies.
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 07/12/2009, -1/+12Bush and Cheney's crusade of choice created tens of thousands of Osama bin Ladens when they bombed a million innocent Iraqis into oblivion.
So, my argument would be that while Osama is a cowardly butcher of innocent people, so is Bush...and his puppet master, Cheney. - deweyhewson, on 07/12/2009, -2/+13Great, let's do it.
- hansolo, on 07/12/2009, -2/+13Of course - he learned all the tricks from Nixon administration. He's a master at manipulating the government's levers while as VP.
Will be difficult to go after him with the media's love for him and his daughter Liz. Not to mention the lack of motivation for a majority of Americans to actually stand up and speak out. - biotch, on 07/12/2009, -3/+14abatrour
I agree the people should speak up against his plan to invent "prolonged detention"
How is the Iraq withdrawal a lie though?
He always said he would finalize his timetable to withdraw with input from the general. The main withdrawal is only a few months off. And residual forces are set to be completely withdrawn by Dec. of the following year as well. And hes not attacking Pakistan... hes attacking Taliban that are within Pakistan's borders.... This has been going on since long before Obama came to office... and he always campaigned he would do that. -
