- texburgle, on 03/24/2009, -6/+226What's up with the Lizard Pic? It seems a little out of place...
- ddogfilm, on 03/23/2009, -6/+111beautiful images!
- zantos420, on 03/24/2009, -2/+97FTA: "this little-known formation that's accessible only on foot via a three-mile hike and highly regulated."
It's a shame things like this have to be so heavily regulated because you know some turd-burglar would graffiti it otherwise with some lame ***** like, "tom wuz here" - TeraRealm256, on 03/24/2009, -4/+81anybody else think what it would be like to take a bike over this thing?
- kmattso, on 03/24/2009, -2/+60It's a Geico ad.
- spacerobot, on 03/24/2009, -1/+58They also regulate it to prevent too much traffic from creating erosion or whatever other horrible things human shoes do environments. For example, many of the big caves in the US are occasionally shut down, so groups of volunteers can go through and clean lint off of the caves from all the people who go through there. Similar things can happen in outdoor places if they aren't regulated.
That said, I would love to visit this place. It looks incredible. - inactive, on 03/24/2009, -1/+55:/ jerk my moms a virgin.
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -2/+52sorta resembles my moms home made peanut butter chocolate fudge..
:)
i love fudge. - Bryantho, on 03/24/2009, -1/+44The caption says it's a "desert-dwelling lizard." This blew my mind, because at first I assumed it was just visiting from another region.
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -3/+45Funny, I was just thinking about your mom's chocolate fudge.
- Bones97698, on 03/24/2009, -0/+36erosion rocks.

- blowedupt, on 03/24/2009, -1/+31You have a keyboard and internet access as well don't you?
- nyeus, on 03/24/2009, -6/+33Thanks Digg for the awesome acid flashback. I'm gonna go talk to my dog now...
- nobubina, on 03/24/2009, -0/+24The hiking permits to get into the Wave are actually very difficult to obtain (entered via a lottery), and they only give out permits for about 20 people to go through each day, in order to preserve the natural beauty. It took me about 6 months worth of trying before I finally got access, but it was well worth it!
- SkippyDoorknob, on 03/24/2009, -0/+24It's not exactly hidden. There are many other breathtaking wonders of nature that you've probably never seen either.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 03/24/2009, -0/+22It's also been turned to stone.
- okzilla, on 03/24/2009, -0/+21Wave, wave, wave, wave, lizard.

- misabrzi, on 03/24/2009, -8/+28And Landscape is unreal. I love it....
- piesforyou, on 03/24/2009, -0/+19It's not a metamorphic rock, it's sedimentary.
Not very long. - Kalchus, on 03/24/2009, -1/+19I'm reminded of the graffiti on one of the rocks at Stonehenge when I visited a few years back. Never underestimate the power of individuals when it comes to messing up something majestic and historic.
- elnerdo, on 03/24/2009, -0/+18Wikipedia says that it's here, but I can't see anything recognizable.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q& ... - DaviDTC, on 03/24/2009, -0/+15That is gross.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 03/24/2009, -0/+13That's why you need a permit to hike there, the keep it as unspoiled as possible.
- Fontzepontze, on 03/24/2009, -0/+13Buried for no street view.
Get some bitchin' 4x4's to tear that ***** up and ruin it, Google. - darkcrystal, on 03/24/2009, -1/+14~~~~~~~~~>===>=Q
JESUS CHRIST ITS A LIZARD GET IN THE CAR - jerrycan, on 03/24/2009, -0/+11do tell...
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -4/+15Honestly America is like an episode of star trek being filmed round the back! How could this be so unpublicised?
- dhVyse, on 03/24/2009, -0/+11Definitely it, just looks different from SPACE.
- otakushark, on 03/24/2009, -3/+13Sand, wind, moisture and time. No gods required.
- cambob76, on 03/25/2009, -0/+919 year old Sand DUDE
- lbmouse, on 03/24/2009, -3/+12I was thinking along the same lines except with a skateboard... and I haven't even been on a board in over 20 years.
- oMeSSiaHo, on 03/24/2009, -0/+8Actually most famous natural formations historic buildings are not messed with. I think the people who would do that sort of thing are not interested in it to go there.
- loper, on 03/24/2009, -1/+8Google maps -> http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q& ...
- Bobboq, on 03/24/2009, -3/+10Wrong, It's a Sobe ad.
- askantik, on 03/24/2009, -0/+7I totally disagree about "the people that go there don't do that kind of stuff [graffiti/vandalism]." I've seen people carve their names into a 300 year old structure and I've seen people do similar ***** to a 500 year old tree that is 25 feet in diameter.
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -1/+8When I read the statement "An earlier version of this text incorrectly said the sand dunes are 190 years old." I thought that the article was originally written by a really-young-earth creationist.
- MarkusX, on 03/24/2009, -10/+17Awesome pictures, almost make me wanna be there, although I really hate the desert.
- napalm9295, on 03/24/2009, -3/+10Never compare America to Star Trek again.
- MrJagil, on 03/24/2009, -0/+6From the thumbnail, i thought the people were on BMX's...
- poogy21, on 03/25/2009, -0/+6unless you're christian.
- GrooTheWanderer, on 03/24/2009, -0/+6If you look at the area on Google Earth (36° 59' 45.84" N, 112° 0' 21.9" W) and enable the Geographic Web features, you can see a whole lot of hi-res photos, e.g. http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/909560 ...

...Uh oh. - Dongvid, on 03/25/2009, -0/+6This is on the cover of one of my textbooks!
http://www.amazon.com/Analog-Signals-Systems-Erhan ... - freshyill, on 03/24/2009, -0/+6Wow, 190 years old, eh? What, are we going by creationist time or something?
