- ChinezePanda, on 07/02/2009, -1/+26For the record... I voted for Obama... now.. that said.. here:
Bush said that he would have the troops pulled out from Iraq's cities by July 09, back in 2008.
Thank you Obama for keeping that promise. - IHaveCrayons, on 07/02/2009, -2/+11I just want to say that the current security situation today is a result of the surge and of the Iraqi's people willingness to take their country into their own hands (Awakening Councils), give credit where credit is due... the security in Iraq today was not forged by Obama.
- overridemymind, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10"lol same with korea"
Yeah, because China didn't have anything to do with that war. /s Oh, yeah, and there's a South Korea now -- there wouldn't have been if we'd have "gotten destroyed"
Looks like you got an "F" in history class. - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10Well since Iraq didn't have a reactor, the changes were pretty slim. Vietnam fell to the communists, so no, we did not win. Iran also doesn't currently have nukes. North Korea was the only who was close at the time the war started, and we ignored them. Oh well, I'm talking alancou, I know it's just a waste of time, but damn how dumb can you be?
- DoctorFaust, on 07/02/2009, -0/+8The same day we launched our first major operation into Afghanistan. Enjoy your time off, boys.
- paradigmx, on 07/02/2009, -3/+10How about, good job Obama, for not backing out of an agreement made in 2008 before you where president.
http://articles.latimes.com/2008/jul/19/world/fg-u ... - sulthernao, on 07/02/2009, -2/+9He never promised to withdraw ASAP. He always said it would be a phased withdrawal.
- whipnet, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6And the same day the US launches a major offensive in Afghanistan.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/07/01/afghan ... - WilD9, on 07/02/2009, -3/+7The ignorance in this statement is mind boggling.
- odkin, on 07/02/2009, -10/+14But how can this be? Didn't we go there just to conquer and pillage? Aren't we still torturing everybody? When are are we going to steal all their oil?
You mean the plan all along was just to eliminate a brutal dictator, free the people, and remove the influence of an enemy state from the area? And then just leave????
How are people going to keep believing our media when America keeps making liars out of them by having honor? - NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3I am glad this is happening, but I don't see any end at sight with these wars with Obama in charge. He is using the same withdrawal from Iraq as Bush, increasing the war in Afghanistan, and he has started to bomb Pakistan.
- hiphoc, on 07/02/2009, -3/+6About 5000 more miles to go. Aside from Vietnam the US does not leave a country permanently, ever. To those who think different, just ask why we have 14 permanent military bases in Iraq. We have Iran surrounded, the Oil is being given to US and British corporations. Mission accomplished by the military industrial complex.
- NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -3/+6Well I am against the Iraq War 100% but it is saddening how people simply scapegoat Bush. Clinton started bombing Iraq in 98, and many Democrats back then were calling for a war. Also, Clinton's sanctions killed 500,000 folks in Iraq.
Both parties were wrong on Iraq, and probably more than a million people from Iraq died as a result when you combine Clinton's sanctions with the Iraq War. - ChinezePanda, on 07/02/2009, -1/+4Except the Pentagon answers to the President...
- theonlywizdum, on 07/02/2009, -2/+5This was one of the reasons I voted for him. Obama was the only politician that promised a "phased withdrawal" and mentioned that it depended on what new information he would have access to as the president. Newsflash everyone, you can't make large scale military decisions based on what you see on CBS and CNN.
- Agamemnon582bc, on 07/02/2009, -6/+8We didn't lose either; we pulled out because Nixon got his hand caught in the cookie jar.
- felman87, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Near zero. Iran would've invaded Iraq if they tried to obtain them.
- ismhmr, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2you are an idiot.
- 1hrSleep, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Does anybody else think that Iraq still isn't all that stable? I mean, didn't some police officers get into a clash with friendlies?
- TheTardis, on 07/02/2009, -1/+3New President -- New Plan
- Darksoul, on 07/02/2009, -1/+2@americanoboy
God did you completely fail history class or what? or better yet did you even go to school?. What you don't know about war could fill a landfill, seriously your an idiot. I demand you go and kill yourself now please I don't want you to breed. - cygnus2112, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1The sanctions didn't kill the people. Food/medicine were never on the embargo list.
They died because Saddam used the sanctions as a way to exterminate marsh arabs and those who wanted to revolt against his regime. The Saddam family actually got more wealthy during sanctions than at any other time. Feel free to fact check.
It's the same thing Zimbabwe and Burma have done. Feed loyalists, starve dissidents. - kano163, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1Actually, for the first time in 40yrs foreign companies will be allow to extract oil of Iraq, All oil was nationalized. Also a pro US will be implemented (placed by US) I don't think the president put on Iraq will question whatever US want to do or want to implement in Iraq
- NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -3/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVsqFQTbKXo
sulthernao - Maybe the way I said it was of poor standard, but it is clear that Obama flip flops like a fish out of water simply to appease everyone on the political spectrum. - V3NOM, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1Video is not loading for me... Can anyone find a mirror?
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1mirror??
- cygnus2112, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1Niallgriff:
Google Osirak. - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -1/+1Now we just have to wait for Iran to walk in and take what they wanted 20 years ago.
- overridemymind, on 07/02/2009, -2/+2"millions of iraqis are dead, tortured, and raped by us military"
Citation Needed. The population of Iraq in 2000 was 22,675,617. As of 2008, it was 28,221,181. That's alot of procreation in the first place, but if the US killed the several million that you're claiming -- then that's a WHOLE lot of population growth. Something to the tune of 8,000,000 babies being born in the region over a period of 8 years. (Compensating for the figure of "Millions" dead, tortured, etc.) Population figure Source: CIA World Factbook via http://www.airninja.com/worldfacts/countries/Iraq/ ...
"remove influence of enemy state = only attracted more of it"-- I'll agree with you there, the destabilized region DID attract more militant entities from enemy states. - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -2/+3Where are the roses and candy? lol!
- paradigmx, on 07/02/2009, -1/+0HA!
http://articles.latimes.com/2008/jul/19/world/fg-u ...
New president yes, old timetable.
But, we still aren't out of the damn country, we're sitting right outside the city limits. - paradigmx, on 07/02/2009, -3/+3We are out of their cities, NOT out of their country.
- NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -4/+4theonlywizdum - He had no intention of getting out of Iraq any quicker than Bush wanted to. I see no reason to give Obama the benefit of the doubt on this issue, when he also flip flopped on FISA, giving us 5 days to read a bill before signing it, having lobbyists in his administration, and numerous other issues.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+0You have been reported to the digg legal department. have fun bitch.
- Presbyterian, on 07/02/2009, -5/+4huh?.
Didn't he campaign on withdrawal.... - Krlll, on 07/02/2009, -1/+1Hah!
Exactly and when they are done there they can move on to Iran........ - NorthMass, on 07/02/2009, -5/+4"Obama came through on his promise
What will the republicants say now?"
His original promise was to withdraw from Iraq ASAP. Then it changed to 16 months. Now he is using a similar timetable to Bush.
I am no neocon, but how can you honestly say that Obama came through on an Iraq war promise? The man has had three different positions on withdrawal from Iraq! - theonlywizdum, on 07/02/2009, -3/+2Hitler wasn't that bad of a leader either. He united Germany in the middle of their depression and brought it back to it's former glory. He kept everything under control, then America and and the Brits came in and ***** everything up.
- ismhmr, on 07/02/2009, -2/+1No.. He said they would be gone day one.
- enginbeeringSB, on 07/02/2009, -2/+1Let's just make sure to keep electing presidents who aren't underachieving sociopaths, and I think we'll be alright.
- KillTheAcademy, on 07/01/2009, -5/+3It's a start...
- americanoboy, on 07/02/2009, -7/+4they'll say "why are us troops still in iraq, then?"
- americanoboy, on 07/02/2009, -4/+1lol @ cia world fact book! hahaha
- alanocu, on 07/01/2009, -18/+14Seeing Iran and North Korea, what’s the chance Iraq wouldn’t have nukes now if we didn’t invade them? People were always comparing Iraq to Vietnam. I forget — did we win in Vietnam?
