- sillygato, on 09/22/2008, -4/+112Great list, but no Inspector Gadget?
- Oxygen, on 09/22/2008, -5/+108Burried as innacurate.
Tail Spin was 1990
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098924/ - irfanmp, on 09/22/2008, -3/+103It's DuckTales not Duck Tails, and no Ninja Turtles? Great list otherwise.
- SpectralSounds, on 09/22/2008, -2/+70Hmm... What about
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Inspector Gadget
M.A.S.K.
Pac-Man
The Real Ghostbusters
Robotech
Snorks
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
?? No love for them? - ShadowFoxxx, on 09/22/2008, -3/+5380's?
I grew up watching this stuff during the 1990's. - plutonium28, on 09/22/2008, -4/+48No M.A.S.K.?
- pistonhonda, on 09/22/2008, -1/+34No Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? I call BS.
- richmondphotog, on 09/22/2008, -1/+24for me it would be:
1.transformers
2.voltron
3.robotech
4.thundercats
5.he-man
giant japanese robots were not as common on tv then as they are today. they just totally blew my mind. I was asking my dad why wasn't the government making huge humanoid robots too. I mean, it makes total sense. - BalooUrsidae, on 09/22/2008, -3/+25TaleSpin was awesome, but that was 1990/1991.
- gwaggy12, on 09/22/2008, -0/+21"The transition from comic book to cartoon was flawless for Transformers. The cartoon itself was more successful than the comic book itself. This certainly can be called a smooth transition."
Was it just me, or is this writing terrible, or was it just me? - brokendalek, on 09/22/2008, -1/+19He-Man was my favourite!
- Mishimaster, on 09/22/2008, -0/+17Thundercats, hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
- omjeremy, on 09/22/2008, -2/+18Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers was '89-'92
TaleSpin was '90-'94
DuckTales was '87-'90
I'm getting tired of these inaccurate lists. - Samsauce, on 09/22/2008, -2/+18Mario Brothers doesn't belong on the list. Sucked hard and 5th place to boot. Heathcliff and the Cadillac Cats was much better.
Ducktales was/is a personal fave. Also, you need to switch Voltron and Transformers. Come on, Voltron was cool and all but he died with Wham, pegged pants and jelly shoes. - tcquad, on 09/22/2008, -3/+19No Silverhawks?
They were partly-metal, partly-real, mostly awesome. Except for Kidd. He was just silly. - MrM4nager, on 09/23/2008, -0/+14Duck Tales WOOHOO
- firebert69, on 09/22/2008, -0/+13it seems the thundercats have destroyed this server
- jayhawk88, on 09/23/2008, -1/+14Solid list, but Mario Brothers shouldn't be on this list, there wasn't anything special about it. Ninja Turtles or Real Ghostbusters needs to have it's place.
Also, Rescue Rangers with no mention of Monteray Jack? Fail. - kinseyincanada, on 09/22/2008, -1/+13it seems like some of these were 90s
- psud0, on 09/22/2008, -0/+12I looove rescue rangers, they are soooo cute ;)
- CrimsonBlur, on 09/22/2008, -0/+12Actually it's '80s, not 80s.
- solid12345, on 09/23/2008, -0/+1280s is 80s.
- p014k, on 09/22/2008, -3/+15Power Rangers = Voltron rip off.
Ready to form Voltron! Activate interlocks! Dyna-therms connected. Infra-cells up; mega-thrusters are go! - Seaton, on 09/22/2008, -0/+11I know they wouldn't think of excluding GI Joe...
...and knowing is half the battle. - blubill, on 09/22/2008, -1/+12I spent hours on hours watching every single cartoon on this list ....But Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has to make the list also.
- RyanCoke, on 09/23/2008, -0/+10Robotech. Thanks for the mention. That is the only one on your list that really hits me the hardest. My first brushes with cartoon death were in that show. Actually they weren't brushes as much as people that you liked for 20 episodes would get killed in the wars.
- inactive, on 09/23/2008, -1/+11Amazing theme song.
- Wakkyweed, on 09/22/2008, -1/+10Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats! HOOOOO!
- Samsauce, on 09/23/2008, -1/+10I'm burying you JUST for being 19. Too old to trick or treat and too young to have any brains. I laugh at you!
- 1807, on 09/22/2008, -0/+9MA MA MA MASK MASK! it's the mighty power that can save the DAAAAAAAAAAAY.
- thoriphes, on 09/22/2008, -7/+16What about Darkwing Duck? Loved that show.
- KSUdesigner, on 09/23/2008, -0/+8That was in the '90s.
- CedarPark, on 09/22/2008, -0/+8Gumby was from the 50's brother. Unless their was some 80's refresh I didn't know about.
- Deadpixel1221, on 09/23/2008, -0/+8"INCONCEIVABLE!"
- bratterscain, on 09/23/2008, -0/+8G-G-G-Gummy beearrsss!
Bouncing here and there and everywhere! - franklymister, on 09/22/2008, -1/+9I don't think the author understands the meaning of the word "flippant."
- 1807, on 09/22/2008, -0/+8I HAVE THE POWEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!! Dude his ***** pet turned into a green and orange tiger! how can you beat that?
- malex, on 09/23/2008, -0/+8Pac-Man? Really? One of the best in a decade?
I mean... REALLY? - madrid, on 09/22/2008, -1/+8Old-Wizard.com put up a lame list. It's like they were allowed to watch only the Disney channel and 2 local broadcast channels as a youth. I think it was the old USA network that used to have a line-up that was pretty decent.
- nosscaj, on 09/22/2008, -3/+10no robotech = FAIL
- inactive, on 09/23/2008, -0/+7Was Tail Spin even in the article? I see it as the pic, but I can't find any mention of it. Maybe it was just a teaser?
Follow up: According to a post below Tail Spin was number 9, but now it says Gummi Bears. Maybe Oxygen started a movement. - cawpin, on 09/23/2008, -2/+9Um, jackass, the 80s means year that end in 8*. The year zero thing is only useful when talking about scientific periods of time like millennia or eras. The 1980s means the years 1980 through 1989. 1990 is NOT part of the 80s.
- SupaNeo, on 09/23/2008, -1/+8Site is down.
10. Smurfs
9. Tail Spin
8. GI Joe
7. He-Man
6. Transformers
5. Mario Brothers
4. Rescue Rangers
3. Thundercats
2. Duck Tails
1. Voltron - sacramentalist, on 09/23/2008, -1/+8What? No Ghostbusters or Gummy Bears?
- bratterscain, on 09/23/2008, -0/+6Dugg for Muppet Babies.
- valmira, on 09/23/2008, -0/+6Jem
- davebg8r, on 09/23/2008, -1/+7Because it was a cheap copy and everyone knew it.
- CrimsonBlur, on 09/22/2008, -1/+7Replace TaleSpin (only because it's not from the 80's) with Snorks and Mario Brothers with Ninja Turtles and I'd say this is a damn good list.
- LoveWidescreen, on 09/23/2008, -1/+7Totally ***** buried. No "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"? No "Danger Mouse"? Whoever made up this list has no clue about what it was like to grow up in the 80s.
"Mario Brothers". Give me a break. - sunsetprojects, on 09/23/2008, -0/+6Robotech rules first cartoon love triangle also and a continues story line
