- Slashered, on 02/15/2009, -5/+1287Awesome image I found on Reddit - everything going on in that split second. http://stashbox.org/404625/pano_simpsons.jpg
- paulEdangerous, on 02/15/2009, -3/+599Now that I'm getting older I feel I should automatically hate change. Particularly, something that was a staple of my early years. But, this was a pretty good representation for where the show is now.
- MiveHind, on 02/15/2009, -1/+543it's exactly the same only completely different!
- fucter, on 02/15/2009, -4/+380love how the flat screen falls off the wall
- MisterOh, on 02/15/2009, -3/+344Am i a nerd for noticing that they had a composite video connection going on?
- TheThirdWheel, on 02/15/2009, -1/+276Just like homer to hook up a new flatscreen and only use a composite connection. I love you Homer.
- hagfish70, on 02/15/2009, -30/+253Not sure why this wasn't done earlier. I mean The Simpsons hasn't REALLY been The Simpsons for about 10 years now.
- GMFlash, on 02/15/2009, -12/+232It's a website where you can read stories a few days before they appear on Digg.
- mrnobody546, on 02/15/2009, -7/+223what is this "Reddit" you speak of?

- Sonixunite, on 02/15/2009, -10/+112Do you hear that rumbling noise? That is the sound of every man, woman, and child simultaneously lifting their hands for a world-wide face palm.
- sneaker98, on 02/15/2009, -17/+116Agreed. Mostly crap, with the occasional chuckle.
- theheyes, on 02/15/2009, -22/+109Yeah. Too slick, too drawn out and too unfunny.
- naeim, on 02/15/2009, -5/+87I like how the old TV at the end is replaced by a wall-mounted HDTV.
- viytale, on 02/15/2009, -6/+88Well that oughtta stimulate the economy!
- chambana, on 02/15/2009, -0/+75it never said NRA4Ever, that was a joke specific to that episode where they said it was NRA4ever, it really always said how much it cost to raise an infant in a week or a month or something like that back in 1989
- coadyj, on 02/15/2009, -16/+85@syphon0928 FAIL
- sexybobo, on 02/15/2009, -1/+69diffrent couch gag different writing on the chalk board and different solo by Lisa.
- alliallialli, on 02/15/2009, -0/+58(42 + 16) - (15 + 23) = 20, 4 + 8 = 12 ... coincidence???

- Hyst3ria, on 02/15/2009, -7/+60i like it. it shows where the show is now.
- mrnobody546, on 02/15/2009, -0/+53is this for sure going to be the same title sequence every episode?
or is it just another couch gag, way drawn out, with some changes in the previous sequence? - honeymustardn, on 02/15/2009, -1/+52Check Digg tomorrow ;)
- glutamate, on 02/15/2009, -2/+51It's actually a joke hinting that it is a lie.
The blackboard bit is punishment. So presumably it's implying that he said it's a waste of money. - r2builder, on 02/15/2009, -0/+494 8 15 16 23 42
- Red989, on 02/15/2009, -1/+45Nice little upgrade.
I'm hoping that the 2 minute title sequence is shorter in the other ones though. - elizabethb221, on 02/15/2009, -3/+47Whoaaa I was expecting to really hate it, but it wasn't that bad.
Gerald!! - TheEggAndI, on 02/15/2009, -10/+53i guess its now 'cool' to hate the simpsons, just like its cool to hate SNL. the fact of the matter is the simpsons ARE still funny. any show thats going on a 20 year run is going to have slumps, that is unavoidable. but the simpsons hit their first slump around season 8 or 9 and since then everyone automatically thinks the entire show is terrible when really they're too fixated on the 'hating simpsons' trend to realize that they do get funnier.
go back and rewatch season 1-5 and tell me, honestly, if those were brand new episodes you that just aired yesterday, would you really find them that funny? as funny as they were in context of the late 80s/early 90s?
the answer would be no, because the simpsons introduced television to the idea of a 'mature' cartoon for adults (or atleast all ages), and the idea of embracing dysfuction in families. things that are indisputably part of mainstream television today. part of the hilarity of the simpsons was the shock of no one ever having done such a thing before.
i still see those old episodes and crack up, but not just cause they're funny, but also out of nostalgia, because i grew up with the simpsons, and thats what lacking from the new episodes, and that is why people reject them, thats what they label as being 'unfunny'. they're too hung up on what the simpsons used to be, and not what it is. on a long enough timeline, EVERY SINGLE SHOW changes in style and tone from their initial episodes. its completely unavoidable. especially when a show is on for 20 years.
so i guess im the only one on this board that still loves the simpsons and hopes it doesnt end any time soon. they are the epitome of the american way of life. drunken, lazy, foulmouthed, and dynfuctional, yet absolutely brilliant and loveable at the same time.
also, as a life long simpsons fan, i have to say i will miss the old intro, but the new one is still pretty good - directedition, on 02/15/2009, -0/+41They freeze framed and redrew each frame by hand, then scanned it in and colored it.
- inactive, on 02/15/2009, -2/+43Three times. You fail at Simpsons.
- john2kx, on 02/15/2009, -0/+41Hey, it's still a big step up from RF.
- wontstoptalking, on 02/15/2009, -0/+37I'm starting to wonder if they'll actually keep this for every episode besides just this one....my guess is yes. Of course, I'm guessing the couch gag part of it will be different every time, and not as long.
But remember the first episode after the Movie? How the intro was different? They never showed that again. So that's an occasion where they changed the whole intro, so the title is false.
This is it (in spanish, sorry.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEu8_DU4iSE
Conclusions:
Title is wrong. See above. First episode after movie came out had different intro.
New intro may or may not be kept. My guess just changed: I'm thinking it might not be kept, but seeing as it is in HD I'm not sure if they'll convert the old one to HD or use this one. I'm also not a fan of the new "animation" styles you can see when the cars pull into the driveway (that dull, blocky "Simpsons Game-ish" style.
Also: The couch gag is, obviously, temporary and changes with each episode, with the exceptions of many episodes sharing couch gags. - S1KING, on 02/15/2009, -1/+37Continuity error: The statue of Jebediah Springfield has it's head cut off by Jimbo and Dolph in the first 11 seconds. But later, 1:16, the sofa is behind the statue with its head reattached.
- inactive, on 02/15/2009, -6/+41i like the part with the one eye brow baby
- jxfallout, on 02/15/2009, -0/+34...at the end.
- honeymustardn, on 02/15/2009, -1/+34Reply fail
- inactive, on 02/15/2009, -34/+67good find but I prefer the older title sequence. I'm sure the new change will grow on me later on.....
- jasdf, on 02/15/2009, -0/+32How did they create this image?
- FelixDrylock, on 02/15/2009, -7/+37Also, he hooked up the TV to the same old antenna they've always had, and something tells me he doesn't have it hooked up to receive OTA digital signals. He only has a few months to get his converter box if he hasn't already done so!
- inactive, on 02/15/2009, -18/+48In before the self righteous "I'm too cool for the Simpsons" idiots.
/Oh wait... they are already here - Spymodhf, on 02/15/2009, -2/+32duh?
- mgyqmb, on 02/15/2009, -0/+30It will be. Even in the older episodes, there were some intro sequences which lasted just as long. It's random though.
- dillibob, on 02/15/2009, -2/+31i heard its some sort of cult
