- cvrefugee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+116Now to get rid of Laguna Beach.
- Archon810, on 10/12/2007, -3/+82Laguna Beach next?
/wishful thinking
Edit: damnit, every thread here has Laguna Beach mentioned. - nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -2/+71Dude, you just used "girlfriend" and "warcraft" in the same sentence. A female avatar isn't necessarily a girlfriend, you know?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -22/+89This is the best news i've heard all year!
- archlich, on 10/12/2007, -2/+64v. FOXed, FOX'ed
1) Slang The act of canceling a show within a short time span (anything under a half season, especially if within 3 or 4 episodes). Named after the FOX television network, well known for such practices.
Damn it, they FOXed "Firefly".
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=foxed
this also applies to futurama, and family guy, they were awesome shows and had no reason to be cancelled - briansalo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+63Futurama maybe? :D:D
- ez12a, on 10/12/2007, -4/+58Bring back Arrested Development!
- dazed.duck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+50Ohhh Taylor..
http://www.popoholic.com/2006/09/08/the-ocs-autumn-reeser-is-a-naughty-girl/ - TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -12/+58The OC was a horrible show, I thought only 13-15 year old girls watched shows like that?
- colin7151, on 10/12/2007, -28/+63don't call it that
- steve693, on 10/12/2007, -5/+39Fox is finally cured of their OC Disorder!
Now to bring back Arrested Development!
... =( - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34"sorry for the typo... OC is canceled."
It's acceptable to spell it either "cancelled" or "canceled." - chosenone-, on 10/12/2007, -10/+41OC is massive brainwashing for an unrealistic lifestyle for teenagers that instills a feeling of betrayal for his/her parents and friends for not being born into the OC world. Thank God it got canceled, now all is left is destroying all the copies left over :)
- Jimzip, on 10/12/2007, -7/+37But season one was so good.. so very good..
Why Fox!! Why! Why did it have to turn into Dawson's Creek!!
I'm glad they killed it, it was a sick puppy waiting to be put down.. Sorry for that crude analogy but anyone that's been watching it from the start has to agree.. Once every cast member has slept with every other cast member and new characters are introduced to add more cast members to sleep with.. you know it's time..
Jimzip :D - Binome, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33finally, maybe that stupid bitch that sits beside me in math will STFU!
- miyamotofreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29If 500 million teenage girls watched this it would never be cancelled.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29My Girlfriend will be pissed, and In fact I am pissed, Now how am I supposed to be able to play Warcraft while she is preoccupied watching this ***** show. ummmm Laguna Beach ftw?
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25Season 1 was good but all subsequent seasons were pretty much the same storylines over and over.
- Moppy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24*the sound of 500 million teenage girls crying*
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26futurama ftw
- mutatron, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27It was a good show the first few seasons. People who never saw it think it was some trashy soap opera, but actually it was more of a family show, more akin to "7th Heaven" than to "The Young And The Restless". I speak in the past tense because I never watched it after the third season.
But seriously, many an episode ended with a big family get together. The dad was Jewish and the mom was a shikse, so in one episode their son came up with the idea of Chrismakkah, and his girlfriend made little Chrismulkes, red yarmulkes with white fur trim and I think a little white ball on top.
Since it was one of those ensemble shows, the best part of it was the way they tied up all the threads at the end of an episode, and especially at the end of the season. And whoever picked the music was a genius. Beautiful indie songs for the most part, overlayed onto the drama like a sparkling necklace over a fine collar bone, at the end they would pan through the lives of the major players with the music rising. Oh, it was to die for!
Did they invent that device? I'm not sure, but the finale of Nip/Tuck, another show I never watch anymore but my daughter wanted to watch it, was in much the same way. It ended a particularly grueling and emotional episode with the cathartic "Brighter Discontent" by The Submarines, showing how each set of relations in the ensemble cast resolved their problems, with the added twist that they were actually lip synching to the music.
Sometimes pop genres can by utilized as a vehicle for deep philosophical discussion. Here's the first stanza of Brighter Discontent.
Got a brand new roof above my head
All the empty boxes thrown away
I rearranged the place
A hundred times today
But the ordering of objects
Couldn't hide what's missing
All these things should make me happy
Make me happy to be home again
All these things should make me happy
Make me happy to be alone again - mjrpes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24I know what you mean... I wept for joy too.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Good point, better make that clear, in game girlfriend from New Zealand that is most likely a guy playing as a female character.
- kenvsryu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Ohhh Summer...
- soogy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Gah, you guys are *****, bringing back bad memories.
I miss Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Arrested Development, Kitchen Confidential, Futurama (woo, on its way, baby!), Alias, The X-Files, Nowhere Man, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., Profit, Action, Cupid, Police Squad!, John Doe, and Carnivale.
Boy, is that ever depressing. - ub3rgeek, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Maybe something exponentially better say, Firefly?
In only my wildest dream unfortunately. - ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I loved the first season, but it did get a little repetitive. Very few shows survive the jump from high school to college. Buffy is the only show I can think of that did it successfully IMO.
- m0laria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13dude...that's so weird, my warcraft girlfriend is from New Zealand too.
- LacY, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19The OC was a guilty pleasure for me tho... Season One was great--then it went downhill fast. But this season was *so* much better--I actually enjoyed watching, especially after Mischa Barton was gone. You know they're just going to replace it with "Who wants to marry my best friend's maid" or something like that.
On the plus side, now Scrubs will only be up against Grey's Anatomy, not both GA and The OC. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -20/+32good?
- Flarup, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13people love to hate the o.c.
Im kinda sad to see it go, i thought it was a pretty good show. The first season was admittidly the best, and the writting was questionable in the latter seasons. nevertheless i've been following it from the beginning, i am not a 15 year old girl or a gay man - im just a college student who watch alot of tv.
The show combined different age groups in a way that was quite unique - and i think the combination of good actors and lovable characters made it popular. also the indie music and the entire 'feel' of the show contributed to it's mass popularity.
They were never able to recreate the magic of the first season. - dashiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11now cancel laguna beach
- tafty86, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15IMHO, I still think Rachel Bilson (a.k.a. Summer) is better.

- AllMyCauses, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12It's good news now, but you can only imagine what Fox will choose as a replacement...
- otatop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Mock Trial with J. Reinhold, with music by William Hung and his Hung Jury.
- morninglorii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Absolutely. I can see it seeming bad if you watch a random episode in the middle, but if you watch it from the beginning, it's great for it's genre (especially the first couple of episodes in the first season... even my parents liked them, and they hate everything like this, as do I usually).
- Pacotheparrot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Finally, listening to people talk about it was getting sooooo old.
- consonance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9A single tear rolls silently down my cheek.
- palakt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+824 is what they watch!
- kal-el, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11the show lose it in season 2 and become somewhat a nbc daytime wannabe show it got killed by the cw smallville and then they moved it to 8pm and it got killed by nbc comedy line-up
to be honest the show was horribly written in its remaining season fox should have killed this show after season 2 - Ryudo2k9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Oh gee how sad another "rich pretty white kids with problems" show is off the air..what ever shall we do.. I KNOW wait 5 minutes as another one takes it's place :P
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8NO!!!! This can't be the end!
What happens to GOB? George Micahel? What about Egg and Annabelle?
We must save the OC's favorite family! - ub3rgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@defectDS
"Never give up, never surrender"
oh wait, wrong SciFi :P
I can dream can't I? - PeTeRZz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Living in Orange County. This is fantastic news.
- truebullfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Good job Fox, now bring back AD!
- mrsexzzmaleman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Season one was great. I turned on the premiere of season two and I never watched that piece of ***** again.
- jstem1994, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Pretty White People w/ Problems ...(vague MAD TV reference)
- iyiinsan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Season 1 was good, 2 was so-so, 3 sucked big time...
But I had just started enjoying it again. I loved Season 4...
And they even killed Marissa to avoid becoming Dawson's Creek (or should I say Joey's College?).
I liked the show... I know I don't have the prerequisites, such as being under 18, or gay, but I enjoyed it. -
