- co9olguy, on 10/11/2007, -9/+131Just turn your tv off and go do something else then.
How many times can you possibly watch Dirty Dancing anyway? - silencerider151, on 10/11/2007, -17/+91I can't believe this made it to the main page. *shakes head*
- STARTSOMETHING, on 10/11/2007, -9/+76Buried for no examples
- Puffball, on 10/11/2007, -26/+91If you love it, then how is it "retarted" or retarded?
- insomniac8400, on 10/11/2007, -4/+50You would prefer a mindless blog full of ads?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+48TBS has huge little "Rush Hour" phases where they show rush hour 1 and 2 back-to-back, every day, for three weeks, four times a day. This makes me hate them.
- tikistyle, on 10/11/2007, -4/+45I agree with this one. I was so pissed. And i'm in advertising.
- revenge7, on 10/11/2007, -3/+37Everybody Loves Raymond! EVERYBODY!
- RichLatherX23, on 10/11/2007, -3/+34So if something is "retarted", does that mean it lost its sourness at one point, only to have it restored?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+31How about some useful news that doesn't have to do with either: Linux, the iPhone or how Dell is selling Ubuntu laptops.
- givinupthefight, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23My limit is 0
- KNon, on 10/11/2007, -3/+23OMG
- insanebrain, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20I only watch the torrent-channel .. no commericals at all and live pause is always possible.
- shamanking, on 10/11/2007, -12/+31People actually watch TBS?!?!?!
- goodcompany, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18I expected screen shots
- MISDIREK7ED, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17Since we're bashing typos.... "I was angry with them... but... they have gone to far."
I went to far once... it's a very nice place. ;) - mglmouser, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18Yep. It's a retarded rant, but one which makes a good point and raises good questions.
Since we pay for cable access to these channels, when does advertising (and image-downsizing) becomes abuse and theft? - clickwir, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16Not as annoying as the ADs on tv.
- Godlike, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14You think far is nice? Try going all the way!
- Anrkist, on 10/11/2007, -16/+30Sarcasm eludes you Puffball... anyways, who the hell watches TBS? It's like USA with some slightly better reruns.
- alpine75, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13That is pretty bad. Stopping the show for "10 seconds" to show a promo is a bit silly. I avoid TBS anyway because of the insane amount of commercials.
My biggest pet peeve is when networks eat up 1/2-1/3 the screen right when a movie/show ends with promo's for other shows. That and the fact they often edit out quite a bit out of the movies has driven me to the point where I don't watch movies that are on TV anymore. - deeboe, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16Those dirty sons of bitches!!!
- RanZom, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16I seen that ***** too... ***** retarded
- slapded, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12TBS ruled when they started shows 5 minutes after everyone else.
- luckyllama, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15Slashdot is the same as Digg... just minus the "THE MOST AWESOMEST PIC YOU'LL SEE ALL DAY [PIC]" posts.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+16I think you must be looking for http://slashdot.org then
- xman00, on 10/11/2007, -5/+16Let's not forget that TBS is broadcasting on the public airwaves. We have loaned them the use of that spectrum and they have an obligation to use it responsibly. I don't think splaying commercials over a television program is a responsible use of their license. Why don't we just drop a few letters of complaint to the FCC. That might get their attention:
http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html - techmonkey4u, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12and this one time there was a story on digg that mentioned Omaha and I LIVE IN Omaha! =D
- Fhwqhgads, on 10/11/2007, -8/+19Why do people still watch TV?
It's nothing but ridiculous, idiotic commercials that insult my intelligence. - griz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11So how about a clip rather than a description.
- clickwir, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12Guy has a valid rant though. Their advertising is more than just annoying, it's getting in the way. It really is aweful what stations are going to do to advertise something.
- Twinked, on 10/11/2007, -25/+34Ok how the hell did this make the FP? Buried as lame... Come'on Diggers this is really annoying.
- davidgolding, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I just read some of Seth Godin's "Permission Marketing." Really, this kind of interruptive marketing is useless; telemarketing and the like don't make any sense to me. It doesn't work, it really doesn't, and that's where Godin proves the point from the business side. Why do people persist in forcing us to see their ads when we don't care anymore?
Cause teaching an old dog new tricks never, ever happens. It's gonna be an uphill battle for years before advertisers realize they're just wasting our time and their money with their nonsense. - underrun, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Aside from this post being about a blog rant....
There are stations here in Chile that during a movie display animated characters bouncing around the screen with full audio. The animation starts small and quiet and for the next 20 seconds it gets bigger and louder and then you find yourself not watching the movie anymore.
It's great advertising but I'm not sure I can affoard paying VTR $100/mo to distract me from movies. Seem expensive. I can be distracted during a movie without the help of my cable provider. - shaft3205, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8TBS Stopped being relevant to me when they stopped their full season Atlanta Braves coverage and started playing Everyone loves Raymond 6 episodes a day (GAG). But I remember the halcyon days of TBS where all they did was play Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jaws all the time, and broadcast every braves game. Better times,
- tconnect80, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10I love the "or you could just stop watching TV" and "stop complaining!" posts. By this logic, all of you geniuses should leave digg because you won't stop bitching about how much the site sucks now. See ya!
- ziffel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Agreed. I just canceled cable TV completely last year, and I don't miss it one bit. If i want some entertainment of that sort I put a DVD in.
Turn off your cable folks. These past few generations seem to think we can't live without it. Take it from an ex-TV junkie, you can. - SkippyDoorknob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6And he was eating jumbo shrimp at the time just after reading old news.
- andre321, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5you know you can stop paying too.....
- Chubarama, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Not a complete loss, I can see how some of these ads could actually improve Mama's Family reruns.
- notman, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10Not that his complaints aren't warranted, but is it worth getting THAT pissed about Everyone Loves Raymond?
- NoahK, on 10/11/2007, -7/+12Don't you mean... "People still watch TV?!?!?!?"
- BrainInAJar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5you pay the cable company for cable. The TV station doesn't see any of that.
In fact the TV station isn't selling anything to you at all, they're eyball-dealers... their customers are the advertisers, and their product is YOU. - PhilH, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I hope to God that was sarcastic...
- smallestmills, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Oh quiet, Mr. Cooler Than Thou, you KNOW people watch TBS. Stop pretending you don't.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Good point! Well. Theres a little of them. But they're huge! ...Ah screw it, you win.
- clickwir, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Don't rag on him. He wants to watch tv, he's allowed to. Hell, like most people, he probably pays to. So basically, you are telling him "even though you pay for it, you shouldn't expect to get what you want. AND even though you pay for it, you shouldn't watch it".
There was a time when you paid for cable to help get rid of ads. - JonnyLegal, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Take a couple deep breaths...
