- jewdiknight, on 10/12/2007, -7/+35Hey, I have a great idea. How about if we don't air a show at 10pm on Sunday Night.
- jake8689, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30@ jewdiknight
i have a better idea, stop airing wrestling your the ***** sci-fi channel god damnit - aywwts4, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22Sorry for being off topic.
Just a note: As always with battlestar discussions, someone walks, reads the threads, and then gets angry because someone reveals something, and they haven't kept current on this season, or watched the last episode.
Just a note to that person, since there is always one. Why are you here in the first place? Leave now, (Right now) Or forever hold your peace.
Oh, and starbuck died. - mikeruiz7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11It might be me, but I can't imagine them stretching the story to 5 seasons. The one thing I always liked about BSG is that the writers were really aware of themselves, the cliches of 'sci-fi' shows, and the over-drama of television series. BSG's writers cleverly avoided these most of the time. But I have to assume that, since they are so aware of everything else, they would also notice when they're pulling the stereotypical 'cashing in for all its worth even though it will ***** up the story' that a lot of long-running shows do. I don't like it any more than you guys do, but BSG ending in season 4 might be the best--I wouldn't want to be left with a bad aftertaste from a series that started so well.
- guyzero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It's not a rumor:
http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/news/ - mzchamberz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Waiting until January is gonna kill me!!!!!!!
- Goner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Who cares when it comes on? Most of the audience TIVO's (a general verb covering downloading, PVR'ing, etc.) it anyway..
- Dipster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I dunno.. the writers of the show lost me at the point the Colonials tossed out the virus from that one satellite they picked up that only killed Cylons. What were they thinking?!?! They had the ultimate tool to purge all the Cylons hiding in the fleet and they didn't even think about it! Instead, they just merrily went on their way with all the sleepers and active Cylon spies safe and sound.
Sheesh. - mancat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7What is wrong with season 3? The story development has been great.
- AlphaMichael, on 02/24/2009, -2/+6Apparently, we learn the identities of the Final Five Sunday night. :)
- Cyberdactyl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Dude Sunday at 2200 is a great time for those of us that actually get out of the house on Friday and Saturday night.
- Stalks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5OMFG WTF HAVE YOU DONE, IM GONNA TOP MYSELF CUZ OF YOU, HOPE YOUR HAPPY!
- aywwts4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4But that means it isn't uploaded until 11, and then I watch watch it until 11:10, And that is too long to wait.
- garfvader, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Back-nine is just referring to the additional 9 episodes added to the season. Originally, season 4 was only scheduled to be 13 episodes; now it's 22. :)
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The point of that episode was to highlight genocide and biological warfare, in *any* form, as being a malevolent and evil action, and, no matter how justified, they should never be an option.
The real truth of the matter is that you can justify any action, no matter how evil, as to being necessary. That way, things like invading another country to "liberate them," taking away civil rights to protect people, and even exterminating Jews can all find a place on the road of good intentions heading straight into hell.
That's what I got out of it, anyway. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Bury.
- EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Well, if they don't start revealing the final five cylons soon, another 9 episodes ain't gonna help. I can almost hear the music...
- insomniacal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Agreed, dipster -- except it wasn't a "they" decision at all. It was a "he" decision, made by one person only: Helo.
And has that person faced an ounce of consequence for this action, keeping the human race in perpetual danger of extinction? Nope.
That's bad writing. - roxya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'd have settled for 14 if it meant less filler episodes.
- swgc5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Praise the Gods!
- tjvdberg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dwight Schrute will be pleased
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sorry for sounding like a n00b (as english is not my native language), but what "back-nine pickup" mean?
- Konrad9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2...yes, 12 models.
6 = 6
Boomer = 8
De'anna = 3
5 = crazy tour guide dude
Cavil
Leoben
Simon
That makes 7 models.
There are the final 5.
That accounts for all 12 models.
How the fraking hell am I incorrect in saying there are no more? - wideawakewesley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Season 3 kick ass, best season yet by far!
- tackle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I hope Season 4 is atleast as good as Seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 was not as impressive as the previous seasons. As someone had mentioned earlier.. only 4-5 episodes were comparable to the good ones from Seasons 1 and 2. The rest were just filler episodes.
- Wrathernaut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Konrad
There's 12 MODELS, not 12 total. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Having to wait 9 months to a year (which is ridiculous) to see the next season will kill this show. The casual fans will not come back.
Season 4 will be the last IMO. - CrimsonBlur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@dclowd9901
I understand that was the point of the episode, we all do. The thing is, the Cylons in the fleet are an immediate danger to everyone, and there really is no way to weed them out effectively. They are pretending to be human, to be part of the fleet. My guess is if they spent more time researching it, they could have found a cure for the Cylons or a way to control the virus. Why not use the virus to their advantage? If not KILL the Cylons in the fleet, use just enough to make them sick so they can be found and contained. That's the part where they had bad writing, they needed to make it more clear as to why they completely abandoned an advantage as strong as that one without weighing all of their options. They didn't address why it couldn't be taken advantage of in ways other than killing off the entire Cylon race. Why not go somewhere you know there are no resurrection ships nearby, release a toned-down version of the virus (maybe that has some kind of biological marker to make sure that's what made them sick) and arrest everyone that gets sick? Or just use it as a testing agent in other more extreme circumstances. - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4The final 9 episodes of a season.
- insomniacal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@korashime:
I really need to get back and rewatch that old series. I was such a fan as a kid! I imagine that now I wouldn't be able to stomach the campiness. Those ships of light -- I still remember feeling mystified by them to this day ... - insomniacal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@SyFyMichael:
Funny. Final Five = contrived way to put Baltar on a base star without immediately giving away the rest of the unrevealed cylons.
Lame. - straxus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The first thing that felt 'wrong' to me was when they had a crippled resurrection ship completely isolated. They were in no eminent danger. They didn't even consider investigating the ship to learn the identities of the rest of the cylon models. They simply blew it up. I thought that was pretty sloppy writing, but gave it a pass at the time. There have been much worse things since then. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy BSG. I just expected better writing after such a stellar start.
- semiotix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Reading some of these comments, if I didn't know better, I'd think some of you weren't obsessive fans for whom half of the fun is complaining about how much you hate the show. The show that you actually love nearly as much as life itself. The show whose plot details you have memorized, whose actors you refer to on a first-name basis, and about whose story arcs you've written forty-page summaries on your blogs.
But I know better. - AlphaMichael, on 02/24/2009, -0/+1I would definitely like to see less filler episodes this coming season ... or if we do get them, that they are nothing like "Black Market" or "Hero"
- user98887, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was happy with the mini-series, and season one was OK,
But that show sucks, believe me I celebrated when starbuck died. How annoying was the starbuck/Apollo thing (the stupid boxing episode for one).
that show really took a dive.
A Frog that has been dead for four or more years could write better scripts then the people they currently hire. - Wrathernaut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"All of this has happened before, All of it will happen again."
So there better be an ending, otherwise they can't recycle the scripts with a new set of actors the season after 4. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I lost my suspension of disbelief right around the time those big crystalline ships started abducting viper pilots....whoops. Wrong BSG. Or is it?
- milomilomilo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3good point.
Many people will assume it was canceled, or simply decide not to watch it since season 3 was 10% story 90% filler.
So what happened in season 3? they found something that may or may not be a clue to finding the way to earth. That took 2 episodes, sadly the rest of the season could have been entirely discarded.
I'm all for character development, but without some story progression I just stopped watching bsg.
First a time change to sunday which did bad things to their ratings, now a 10 MONTH hiatus?
They'll be lucky if they have enough viewers left to do season 4 without getting canceled.
damn shame. - alsotopia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I don't know why everyone is moaning at Season 3 - there's been some absolutely brilliant episodes in the set, imo.
- straxus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No one has ever pulled a B5 except B5 (to my knowledge). B5 was planned as a 5 year story arc before a single ep was shot. All of the major story was already laid out, along with 'trapdoors' allowing for key characters to leave in case real life took an actor away from the show. (And it did.) The BSG guys have an end planned from what I gather, but everything in between is done season to season like the rest of TV.
- EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1SyFyMichael, I heard the same rumor. I think we need a betting pool.
- drlha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lucky they're planning on having a movie to tide you over in the fall then, eh?
- MegaBad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats awesome, Awesome to teh MAX !
- gquaglia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1BSG last season. Yahoo!, more time for wrestling. Pass the Budweiser and pork rinds please. SciFi is going down the tubes fast. I give SG Atlantis another year before SciFi drops the axe on them too.
- ABadInAlbany, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Unfortunately this is likely due to the fact that season four will be the final season, and they need the episodes to wrap up the story without going into a season five.
- insomniacal, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4@SuckItUp: Exactly right. Good to know someone else watches with a keen eye.
- divabox, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Really good. I've always liked posts like that. Dugg.
- tuaregorama, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Perfect post! Even if it's not true it is quite a nice idea.
- addman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Golf term meaning to play the second half of an 18 hole course.
- AlphaMichael, on 02/24/2009, -0/+0That's the telemovie, not the 20 episodes that make up the fourth season.
