- dxprog, on 05/15/2009, -2/+39Am I the only one who thinks this is a really bad idea? Why can't we leave good movies alone?
- Culero, on 05/15/2009, -0/+26$$$
- TwistyMcFister, on 05/14/2009, -1/+25doesn't say if Jack Black will be doing the voice. my guess is no. hopefully they can get someone to at least be close to his charisma for the main character.
- btraxx, on 05/15/2009, -1/+2480's and 90's Nickelodeon > anything currently on the channel X 100000000000
- ekula, on 05/15/2009, -0/+15I don't suppose it will be even nearly as good as the film :/
- TheVirus, on 05/15/2009, -1/+12If it's anything like Avatar, it'll be great.
- BrownieMix, on 05/15/2009, -0/+9I hope it doesn't end up as lame as Barnyard: The Series
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -1/+9omg? exactly.. Jackblack got to be in there!
- Klisk, on 05/15/2009, -0/+8I don't think any modern animation is going to live up to Avatar. Not for a long time.
- digitalArtform, on 05/15/2009, -0/+7I guess if you can get some more life out of the cg models and rigs, it's dumb not to. I hope whoever does it inherits that stuff and doesn't have to reinvent the wheel.
- Jerky1312, on 05/15/2009, -1/+7How is the movie going to get worse? If you don't its going to live up the standards of the movie, don't watch it. It's that easy.
- SirBruce, on 05/15/2009, -1/+7Skadoosh!
- solvable, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6Something tells me 9 year olds wouldn't like that.
- cawfee, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6Why can't they have it in the style of the movie's intro sequence? It's gotten to a point where "traditional" animation actually seems novel in the slew of recent 3D releases.
- soggydave2113, on 05/15/2009, -1/+7i still haven't seen this movie yet. From what I read, I'm missing out.
- yoshiboy, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6Nevermind that Wall-E is a Disney property.
- stuffradio, on 05/16/2009, -0/+5The old Rugrats was great.
- mmittimm, on 05/15/2009, -1/+6It's Kung Fu Panda, a kid's movie. It's not like they're making a series based on Pulp Fiction or something.
- Elementix, on 05/15/2009, -2/+6*****......
- VinnieDaMac, on 05/15/2009, -2/+6At least you know you're gonna get dugg down.
- charlie6969, on 05/15/2009, -0/+4Well, THIS story sure made my little girl happy.lol
- nzBeans, on 05/16/2009, -0/+3I've never seen Penguins of Madagascar, but it's a quick and dirty series to produce since EVERYTHING is done inhouse (voices are provided by Dreamworks staff). From what the article said, it was a winner in the ratings and is only second to Spongebob.
Kung-Fu Panda will suffer. As digitalArtform mentioned eariler, half the work is done already in terms of models, rigging, etc. With Dreamworks in a slump period until their next "big hit" (i.e. How to Train Your Dragon (which is directed by Chris Sanders, who was kicked off Bolt) in 2010 and Shrek Goes Forth (I am not going to give it a chance) in 2011), they can quickly and cheapy churn out 26 episodes alongside developing the second film, which is due in 2011. - keviniskool, on 05/16/2009, -0/+3I'd watch that.
- jah37066, on 05/15/2009, -4/+7buried for "digged" down.
- defectDS, on 05/16/2009, -0/+3Dan Schneider (iCarly, All That, Drake and Josh, etc) is soley keeping Nickelodeon afloat right now. It's unfortunate that Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly) gets overlooked by Hannah Montana and the other soulless tween actors on Disney Channel. She's a truly talented actor who doesn't need to rely catchphrases to substitute for comedy and she didn't have to ride on her Dad's back to get where she is today. I'd much prefer my sister watching her than anything that airs on the Disney Channel.
But yeah, don't bash iCarly just because it stars a teen girl. It's one of the only 3 shows I watch, next to Dexter and Jeopardy. :P - agentsrecord, on 05/16/2009, -0/+3I'd happily accept Kyle Gass in his stead.
- sigmaman2, on 05/15/2009, -3/+6Dreamworks = Base Hits & RBIs.
Pixar = Towering Home Runs. - pyromcr, on 05/15/2009, -1/+4why do they do this to our young?
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -1/+4More proof that the masses will flock to there lame idols.
- defectDS, on 05/16/2009, -0/+2I'm surprised it's up there with Spongebob as I gave it a watch and it's really nothing special.
Actually, I'm surprised Spongebob is still up on the charts as well. After Season 3/the movie, it's mindless plots and poop jokes without the original creator and producer Steven Hillenburg. It's horrible that they've managed to keep it going this long. I don't think I've ever wanted to sign a petition to cancel a show, as opposed to un-cancel a show. :P - solvable, on 05/16/2009, -0/+2That's what I'm saying. They don't make cartoons to please you.
They make these cartoons with slapstick comedy for kids. - s0nicfreak, on 05/15/2009, -2/+4I knew this would happen :\
- unclejimbo88, on 05/15/2009, -1/+3Except Nickelodeon does this for pretty much every dreamworks movie, and they all use ugly, textureless models instead of the originals.
- tonychenyj, on 05/15/2009, -1/+3Vote for Jack Black.. I hope the story is good, but have to wait until next year. damn it.
- Klisk, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2Not even remotely related to each other.
- Klisk, on 05/15/2009, -3/+5iCarly is good, at least I think so.
- DarkShroud, on 05/16/2009, -1/+3Where's Season 4?! Yes I know it was planned but they should do it anyway to finish tyeing up loose ends.
- yoshiboy, on 05/15/2009, -1/+3Can they seriously do nothing original?
Back at the Barnyard is the television equivalent of a botched abortion.
Penguins of Madagascar is at least decently written, if badly animated.
And now this. Traditional animation has its benefits, not everything has to be synergized with a movie / video game / tv show / underwear. - Hero0fTime, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2I got love for the classic Nick, but there is some good stuff on there now if you take the time to check it out.
Amy Poehler's "Mighty B!" is pretty classic squash and stretch and actually hilarious. The new show Fanboy & Chum Chum looks like it's going to be great too.
Just saying, gotta give 'em a chance. - Swarms, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2You realize that you're not their target market, right?
- MrMischief20, on 05/16/2009, -0/+2I wish they'd release more of their classic shows from the 90's on DVD.
- antdude, on 05/16/2009, -1/+3Is this going to suck like Madagascar' penguins TV series?
- zbeast, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2Say it could be good... the only thing that would screw it up is script approval by Nickelodeon..
They seem to have a bad happen of trashing shows.
The censorship, in tiny toons, the trashing of Zim. Ya, they had a winner with sqarepants.. but i'm not 8 years old so I could
not watch it.. too stupid.. Avatar was a good show... I was very surprised that it was on Nickelodeon.. - sirbeta, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2That would be it. Since they appeared around the same time I figured they were connected in some way. I admit to not watching it before, thus my confusion up till this point. :P
- HillBully, on 05/16/2009, -0/+2yeah.. and Angelinajolie got be in there too!
:D - Sylocat, on 05/16/2009, -0/+1I wish they'd do it in the art style of the opening dream sequence.
- Sylocat, on 05/16/2009, -0/+1They liked WALL•E, didn't they?
- TeCuervo, on 05/15/2009, -3/+4That's awesome now they can ruin a fantastic movie properly.
- immatellyouwhat, on 05/15/2009, -3/+4Hope Jack Black is in it, otherwise the series will suck.
- BugMeNot2, on 05/15/2009, -1/+2Srsrly. That Penguins of Madagascar show is so ugly.
