- BlackAle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21I wonder how many GOOD shows they'll cancel this year!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14How about they bring back Arrested Development. I'll stick to Cable otherwise.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Heroes, Justice, and Studio 60 look pretty good. Knights of Prosperity may be good also, we'll just see
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Eh, I'm not impressed by any of these yet... but I'm a slow adopter of new tv shows.
I'm just excited about the returns of:
Smallville
Veronica Mars
Scrubs
My Name is Earl
How I Met Your Mother
And maybe a couple more I've forgotten - hiredgun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9The Office, mang
- JaySantos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Which one?
- CUBApete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Who needs new shows when you have season 3 of The Office?
- Adgeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Having moved to Canada from the UK where they have a totally different system - you show it until it's over - I've been stung by getting into shows which they shortened, stopped or killed. This year I'm choosing to wait a few weeks to see which shows survive and then get involved.
Shows cancelled recently I miss (or will) - Stargate SG1, Arrested Development, West Wing... the list, sadly, goes on. - gmillerd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9In the end back to back Seinfeld repeats will topple half of these in revenue. Always a great sign when your market tunes into a Seinfeld with more market share than a pilot or a first run of your show .... lol, that Kramer.
- shultzy055, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9You forgot Numb3rs, which, while being a lil on the cheesy side, is still a great show.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6That presumes that the 4400 was original. But it wasn't. Obviously, the idea of humans being abducted by aliens is not original, nor is their being returned. Heck, that's been done from modern times to Roman Legions. A short list of works that cover that include the X-files, Star Trek(Voyager's pilot, for example), Flight of the Navigator, Jerry Pournelle's Janissaries series, and lots of others.
Super-power hidden among us? Try the Sentinel. Try Unbreakable. Try Rising Stars, or Marvel's New Universe. Might even make an argument for the Watchmen, Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The 4400 didn't tell an entirely new story, it just told its own version. Calling another series a ripoff because it's in more or less the same genre is a bit excessive.
If you want to jump on NBC for trying to exploit that sort of interest go ahead, but it's not like they aren't the same company. Might as well complain about a Superman movie coming out after a Batman one. - EricPeters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I hope they make that pilot that was posted on here a while back into a series. I think it was called "Nobody's Watching." That was an interesting and different idea that probably would have worked out well.
- thehans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Enough Ted Danson, enough.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Wow. Only one show in that list will even get me to tune in to the pilot.
- Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Ya know Scrubs, despite being a great show, is still going to be a midseason replacement this year on NBC.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ripoff? Ripoff suggests a low quality product that looks and feels like the original. How does Heroes fall into this category, except for the fact that a few people in both shows may have extraodinary powers?
- fnaqzna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The pilot for Studio 60 was first rate. It's good to see Sorkin and Schlamme working again. The West Wing didn't take long to tank after they left the show.
- argash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4SG-1 for starters sadly :(
- ericeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Studio 60 was really really good and I'm happy that the early release pilot allows me to promote the show like this.
Jrr6415sun, are you me? Cause I too am waiting for that new Abrams show, 20 Good Years cause of Tambor (and Lithgow), and 30 Rock cause of Fey and Morgan. - psbpv3o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Heroes looks good.....Aceanuu surface was a failure. I was addicted to that show though....
- skullbullet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Jericho and Heroes are the two I'm interested in seeing. Maybe The Class as well, I do kinda like the concept.
- sphinx13, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wow there are way too many shows on TV these days, and only a few of them are remotely good.
- RedShoulder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Apparently you are using a new and broad use of the word "good".
- RichPowers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Only two new shows I'm excited about:
20 Good Years: John John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor are fantastic actors. They might be able to carry the show despite its so-so premise.
Help Me Help You: Ted Danson is another solid actor. And I think the therapy group thing will allow for some very interesting characters. - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What does the title sound like it should be about?
- ErrandboyOfDoom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Two more legal shows? Why?
Ditto on all the shows about friends/neighbors/roomates.
Then there's one about surviving nuclear holocaust with overtones of redemption. Jericho could be really cool, or it could be preachy and awful. All I know is it might actually be *different*. - Jrr6415sun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i've watched heroes, stuido 60, knights of prosperity, vanished and kidnapped.
heroes and studio 60 were the best, knights was pretty funny but i can see it getting old fast... and personally vanished and kidnapped did not get my attention, maybe they just weren't for me.
I'm looking forward to the other show by JJ Abrams (i think the nine), 20 good years (because i love jeffrey tambor in Arrested Development) and 30 rock because of tina fey and tracey morgan are both hilarious - Guano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wish "The Nine" was actually about what the title sounds like it should be about.
- fnaqzna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm not sorry to see Surface die. The pointless meandering plot was just unbearable.
Now, Lake Bell can move on to something better. She was really the only reason I watched it anyway. - Jrr6415sun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.tv.com/story/story.html&story_id=5718?tag=gumballs;title;4
- fliped, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Jericho" and "Heroes" I am really looking forward to because of the sci-fi part
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4At least whoever wrote these summaries is prepared to tell it like it is.
I see two shows that are basically about SNL, and now Becker is playing Frasier.
That Jericho thing sounds familiar, I think they might have included a preview DVD of the pilot episode in something else I bought. Wasn't interested then, not interested now.
"Shark" - James Woods was funny in Family Guy, but I had no idea who he was. Still don't, except for "that guy in Family Guy". Good to see Alexis Cruz from Stargate (movie and SG-1) is still keeping busy.
"Friday Night Lights" - Wasn't that a crappy movie?
"Heroes" - "To explore the blessings and drawbacks of being different in a population that embraces sameness, and to thrill the viewer in the process.". Sounds like soppy teen crap.
"Twenty Good Years" - "'The Odd Couple' rejiggered for John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor.". Yeah because that formula never gets old...They better not promote it as "The Odd Couple on Crack". So cliche.
I wish I could have my own TV network. I'd put something decent on the air for once. I'd hire writers, not re-hashers. And if anyone came to me to ask if I could produce their reality TV show, I'd have them beaten up. - wolfzero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I've seen the Heroes pilot, it's nothing special. The most interesting TV pilot I've seen this year is Jericho, definitely a unique idea. It sort of crosses a small town drama with the end of the civilized world. I wish it were more (not sure if this is the right word) cinematic. It seems to be shot in a fast-moving teen drama sort of way, instead of a big budget movie way I've come to respect on TV shows like Lost and 24. Another impressive show was The Black Donnellys, or as I like to call it Young Boondock Saints. Oh, I'll be watching Traveler, just to figure out what the hell is going on.
- realnebby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'd like someone to put all the networks' fall schedules on a single grid, so I can plan my week.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm not excited about any new shows. Instead of 5 new shows for Fox, they should've renewed AD for a fourth season.
Only series I will be tuning into this fall is Lost and Nip/Tuck. - digidelia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i'm just glad the reality craze has ended
- bmcnally, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Bring back Firefly!
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you do know that upn and the wb are combined now both smallville and that veronica mars show i never realy cared for are gonna be on the same channel
- craterburnsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm hoping Smith gets good, Johnny Lee Miller is my favorite Actor so if they kept him around and had a nice plot, It'd be nice to see him in a good show every week.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Heroes and The Nine. That's about all I'd watch from that list.
- argonlightray, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Battlestar Galactica Oct 6th!
- mactarkus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's always weird when a story from our local mullet wrapper gets to the front page of digg. This is the second time this has happened in two weeks.
- psinormal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://tviv.org/Fall_2006_Grid_%28USA%29
- eddigg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4NBC = Nothing But Crap
- MindOps, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Heroes looks like an exact ripoff of The 4400, which just had its 3rd season finale on the USA channel. But I will be a fan, as long as the powers are cool and the script and plot are bearable.
- davidron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wikipedia has a complete article about all upcoming television shows. While, it's more complete than this list, it contains shows that won't start this year (like the start wars animated show). Here's the link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Upcoming_television_series - austinrules, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2so excited to see a BUNCH of these shows...this fall season is one of the best i have seen in a while. there really shouldn't be that much complaining going on.
- RenZ87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1These people forgot about "The Winner" a new comedy on Fox starring Rob Corddry from the Daily Show. He is following the footsteps of Steve Carrel.
- Hayes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If Friday Night Lights is anything like it looked on the preview, it is a must see.
- fnaqzna, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2..or Serenity II.
