Also the first character introduced is the first character from the book Jurassic Park. Dr. Bobbie Carter. From the beginning of this script:

A puddle of water lay still in a muddy jungle. We can here the crickets chirp, as well as other animals. Then, they start to fade away until only the crickets are left chirping. I don't see how anyone could go supergeek and try to say that it's impractical or past it's prime. It's an excuse to have more dinosaurs eating people, it's not a ***** saga. So yeah, I'm for the movie and if you have JP1 on a pedistal somewhere where you pray to it daily, gfy, now gtfo.

For franchise movies like these, they sometimes commission dozens of completely different scripts.

Actually I read that Spielberg wanted this one to be "as scientific as possible", and try to shoe away from dinohorror that was so common in the first 3 (especially 2 and 3). Which would be a nice change if its true. -
