- Mc_Carter, on 10/12/2007, -17/+72Joss Whedon is the man plain and simple.
- Kumaku, on 10/12/2007, -16/+66I like The Office.
- bitt3n, on 10/12/2007, -9/+35let me guess. somewhere in it is a comely young lass haunted by her supernatural powers and the obstacles they place before her in her path to lead a normal life as a californian teenager/genius space traveler/wonderwoman?

- ngmcs8203, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19RamTech... you know what could also be called a waste of time? Commenting/reading articles on Digg, especially articles that are about things that are below you. If your time is so precious don't post a comment that basically reads: "I'm a condescending jackass that would rather flame than write an insightful comment". Get off our DIGG!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+27Joss Whedon did not write Speed. In fact he has nothing to do with it.
Graham Yost wrote Speed. He is the son of Elwy Yost, host of Saturday Night at the Movies on TVO for the past 30 years at least.
He knows about movies, and submitter obviously doesn't.
Joss Whedon is ok but he's hardly the best writer to ever freaking live. - kyl3, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17I certainly like the new direction the office has been taking... I look forward to tonight's episode.
- TheDude77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Joss Whedon was in fact a "script doctor" on Speed.
- DyDx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12@kenhiggingson: Are we watching the same show? Has it somehow gone over your head that that is the main point of the show, the boss being a complete idiot? He's no more of an idiot now than first season.
- talman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Wow, I thought RamTech was just arrogant, but to come back to check for replies. . . that is the true sign of a arrogant troll. Say hello to Mr Block list.
- quisp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Did anyone else notice that the college student playing Frisbee was wearing a Jayne Cobb knit hat?
- bouche, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Kelly: "Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God..Oh My God.."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11uh no he didn't. How do people regurgitate this garbage without checking their facts?
- Shky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yeah, there are no references, but still:
"Graham Yost, the credited writer of the film Speed, has stated publicly that "Joss Whedon wrote 98.9 percent of the dialogue...We were very much in sync, it's just that I didn't write the dialogue as well as he did. That was a hard part of the whole Speed thing. It's my name up there, but I didn't write the whole thing. But I fought hard to get that credit, so I'll live with it." Writers are often granted credits for generating overall ideas, setting up story arcs or creating plot points, as would seem to be the case with Speed."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WGA_screenwriting_credit_system#Examples_of_credit_conflicts_and_resolutions - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This episode was really great, it had a bunch of very memorable scenes, and the part at the end was actually a bit touching with Michael and Pam.
But, all the credit shouldn't be given to Whedon...he only directed the episode, and most of The Office's brilliance comes from the writing - TheSatan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"He also wrote uncredited drafts or rewrites of Speed..."
"According to Graham Yost, the credited writer of Speed, Whedon wrote most of its dialogue."
Source: Wikipedia - EntropyGuru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Just when you think Michael is the most obnoxious person alive, he manages to flip things completely around -- great character.

Why, it's not like we have a quota or anything? :-) - STKD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Joss Whedon most definitely was involved in rewriting the script for Speed. Specifically he is known to have worked on the dialogue between the two main characters (apologies, their names currently aren't in my head) to create a more convincing relationship. That bit of trivia is direct from the autobio' "Joss Whedon: The Genius Behind Buffy" (Candace Havens).
Fact > "blah". - elstevo, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15Really, guys? +28 diggs for that comment... for shame, for shame! Lets try and be a little more responsible with our thumbs ups
- ewercr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Video of Joss speakig about the episode
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi0xeFyhlns&eurl= - indraneel24, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i think the show has come into it's own. no more of that "it's not good british humor" crap. they're not ripping anyone off anymore. tonight's episode showed why.
- nbcaffeine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4also, dont forget that he was a writer on "Rosanne"
/so ashamed for knowing that... - wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wheadon made his bones in Hollywood as a script doctor, and as such was usually buried in the credits, if there at all. It wasn't until Buffy that it became clear that he could do things on his own.
- Lynxpro, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7
Cough, O'Neil, cough.
Cough, JMS, cough.
Cough, Bendis, cough.
Cough, Frank Miller, cough. - CanuckMakem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I just want Firefly back :(
- Splitter402, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9No... Joss Whedon was involved on Speed. Just because you hit IMDB and didn't see his name doesn't make it the supreme authority...
- stukdog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Ironically, tonight's episode has a bat in the storyline.
Synopsis from LITO -> http://www.lifeintheoffice.com/2007/02/15/business-school/ - sonofalink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No, the real first episode was Serenity parts 1 and 2.
The first episode to air was The Train Heist. - gts24, on 10/12/2007, -8/+11Someone please let me know when Firefly is back on the air. Fox sure can screw a good thing up.... :(
- Aang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No *****??!?!?! I missed the episode, but it would be worth seeing just for that!
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ zeromous
Bragging about who wrote or didn't write Speed shouldn't really be an issue.
"Pop quiz, HOT SHOT. What do you do? What...do...you...DO??" - ocha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I saw this just in time to turn on The Office.
Good save. :D - RyAnderson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It was a great episode.
- GirSaysDoom13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just want my kids back!
(obscure arrested developement reference) - nunbot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lets never speak of speed again. ever!
- Carramrod72, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2RamTech...
I like how watching TV is a waste of time but taking the time to comment on a story you obviously have no interest in isn't...
"I do! I want some man meat..." -Dwight - gameface247, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4pretty funny ep...still miss gervais tho
- DooM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree. Good episode, but anyone could've directed it -- it seemed to be shot exactly like every other episode of the Office. I'm a huge Whedon fan but this was nothing special, imho.
- smokeyjohnson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I'm watching it right now... brilliant.
- sabotank, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Wuh duh ma huh tah duh fong kwong duh wai shung
http://fireflychinese.kevinsullivansite.net/episode2.html#omr - Propaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0STKD may know too much about Joss Whedon, but not what an autobiography is.
- TechLaw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I never knew the Toy Story credit...but does this mean that the Office is going to be cancelled at the end of the season?
- frimsah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0completely disagree. I think The Office has a solid (and rather large) fan base and has earned a reputation for being a consistently funny/entertaining series. I don't think the show won fans over because it follows 'My Name is Earl', which in my opinion is a pretty retarded show.
- starf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1If you're replying to me, I did try watching the original pilot the second time around (ie "real first episode when it came out on dvd"). And maybe it did get better later on, but if so, I couldn't get to that through the crap it started with.
- funkytaco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I guess the bat thing was an homage to Buffy, lol.
I named my business after one of his movies - http://www.serenityhost.com - CornrowWallace, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6Anyone who doesn't see the beauty and brilliance of Firefly is a complete 'tard.
The Firefly 'verse is so well crafted and realized, it could have come from a master like Larry Niven.
if you don't respect the 'fly, you don't like Science Fiction.
The turbine impeller scene at the end of The Train Job is art. As is the Mal/Jayne bit in teh airlock. No one did that sudden violence to more effect. - sunexplodes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wait, has Frank Miller written something worth reading sometime in the last 5 years?
