- MikeDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15You know, I don't want to start a huge flamewar here. But honestly, 24, of which the characters have been kidnapped 30 times, by 20 different captors.
I've developed a drinking game based on the movie, everytime a character gets kidnapped, you have to take a shot (It would be about 10 shots for season 1). By my estimations, during the first season, Jack's wife and daughter got kidnappend, and escaped about 4 times. THAT IS INSANE!! Do you realize what sort of crappy day one would have if they got kidnapped 4 different times by 4 different people, all within a 24 hour period? C'mon. . .
While I understand the whole concept of Lost is pretty far-fetched, at least they don't pretend to be real. - ImOscar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13This article was pretty bad in my opinion. Poorly organized and poorly developed concepts.
- Clive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I thought this was referring to the philosopher at first glance
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14Don't like it, don't watch it. Personally, I've found Season 3 to be great so far. Or at least, better than the halfway point of Season 2 (which did get boring, as nothing really happened).
- ThePikey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I've got a drinking game as well with 24. Any time the word Perimeter is used, be it, "Set up a perimeter.", "He got through our perimeter.", or "Realign the satellites to give us a perimeter sweep of the entire area." I know Irish guys who can't make it through an entire episode.
Perimeter - leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Locke
- andreascliment, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Why is it going downhill, and why is it boring to watch?
I run a site about Lost and obviously I still think Lost is pretty good, but it would be interesting to know why people are stopping to watch the show. - mrsark, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10< heroes
- Merkidemis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I am leaning towards stopping as right now they seem to be making weird stuff up just for the sake of making weird stuff up. While I am sure everything is connected and whatnot, it does get trying to watch with a week between episodes. That, and the point of what the characters are doing is getting muddied and lost.
On a mostly unrelated note, I am also getting bummed about Prison Break. They too seem to be making things up just to get another episode out. I mean seriously, these guys are total on the ass end of Murphy's Law. Enough already. If that show goes to a 3rd season with the same characters I am going to cry. - perryge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4As a philosophy student, I found that headline truly perplexing at first :P.
- ramiro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Damn!
I thought that the article was drawing an interesting parallel between Lost, Luke Skywalker and John Locke, the Enlightenment philosopher. - PixelVision, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3the first 2 episodes of Season 3 didn't answer many questions and were kind of frustrating. But Episode 3 was fantastic, reminded me of the early episodes. John Locke is a very entertaining character.
- woody56292, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@mrsark: I completely agree. I loved Lost, but now it is just too weird and they are making up too many back stories ( some of which don't make sense, as it would of affected the character in season 1.... )
Heroes on the other hand, is great so far and getting even better! - Rethcir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2At least the Locke in Final Fantasy VI fought an evil empire.
- ShagNASTY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I really liked the first season of Lost which in my opinion was the best season. And I have to admit that I'm getting the feeling that they are milking the show for all its worth. I read an article by Stephen King in EW in which he mentioned that eventually the ratings for the show will matter more than the plot.
All I hope is that the writers have a clear idea of what the whole story is about and how they are going to wrap it up. - chabuhi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I am a LOST fan (read that: "fan of LOST") but I have to admit to some frustration this season (actually, beginning last season). Here's my feeling:
There's too little payout. It's like dumping $20 worth of quarters into a slot machine and getting a $2 payout ... every $100. I personally feel that we don't need to meet any more new characters, for starters. There's enough to explore in the lives of the first season characters, let alone those that were introduced in season 2. Also, I know it will be explained (or, at least, I sure hope it will be), but I'm really turned off by the "Others" and their seeming omniscience.
It's also becoming a bit too "Jurassic Park" meets "Planet of the Apes" for me. I know I'll continue to watch, but I don't think this show has much life left in it if it continues to be a race with no finish line. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and, to me, Lost resembles, more than anything else, an episode of Scooby Doo that never ends, and we never get to see the evil Old Man Wilkinson get demasked. Damn meddling kids.
- SomeBlackGuy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Prison Break is awful....
- TheBrandman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, I was hoping to be able to baffle my We the People teacher tomorrow with some twisted corelation between seperation of powers and womprats.
- Chairboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Does that mean Princess Leia is Demosthenes?
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't think his character is based on John Locke, but surely when the writers were envisioning this series Locke's theories were in the back of their mind.
- TyRaNNOus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think people are watching the show, but their is alot of people like me who don't watch TV on the actual boob tube. I almost always download tv shows with the exception of a couple shows a week I tune into if I have the time.
- perryb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Lost is a show that has been designed by committee to earn network ratings. There is no overall purpose or "meaning" to the show beyond that.
As long as they can distract the audience with pointless coincidences and an arbitrary revelation or two every episode the fanboy crackheads will keep tuning in for their next fix.
The show will not come to a satisfying conclusion. Most probably as the ratings take a dive and the mainstream audience loses patience the show will get cancelled.
A well coordinated email petition will grind into action and the show will continue as a straight to DVD release for the remaining geeks who are rabidly devoted enough to give a *****. As long as the business model shows that such action will return a profit of course.
Lost is the most cynical piece of trash I've ever seen. Hell, it's even more cynical than I am. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did anyone else see this one about Locke -> http://digg.com/television/Lost_John_Locke_everyone_s_favorite_fiddle
- rebotfc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just given up on lost really, i mean it was great to start with but nowadays nothing ever happens....ever...
- willard34, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I thought he was supposed to be the philosopher John Locke...guess not. Okay, then:
sawyer = solo
kate = leia
jack = annakin? (I prefer him as luke actually)
hurley = chewbacca (cited here; no not jaba...that's mean)
Sai'id = lando
locke = obi wan or gwai gin[sic]
ben = darth sidious
that's about it for me - isbhod, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1nevermind, I was beaten to it.
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1John Locke from the show is named after the philosopher... or at least, that's one of the theories.
- uberneoconcert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yeah I was disappointed to see from the comments that the John Locke I think of as a superhero wasn't the subject. Didn't even read the article.
- september29th, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Bah... I've been ranting about this for months at http://www.ekobase.net
- RableRableSnarf, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Yeah, but you make it sound like it's random people being kidnapped for no reason... each time had it's own reasons, unique circumstances, and creative solutions. The fact that 24 is so action packed makes it entertaining, not completely unrealistic. If I wanted something entirely believable I wouldn't be watching TV.
- Fenrok, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2This means that Elton John is Palpatine
- jasper976, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1''Lost'': Locke hunts for Mr. Eko.
so Eko is Leia? ouch - ectocooler, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2agreed, if i wanted to watch a soap opera, i'll turn the tv on during the day, not during prime time.
- dstrube, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2I didn't even read the article yet and I'm digging you up. The summary alone is so badly written makes me wanna kill...
- dejah, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Isn't John Locke the Devil?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Did anyone else see this? -> http://digg.com/offbeat_news/Lost_Buy_the_Hatch_Painting
- Knullare, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5Longest unnecessary quote ever.
- RableRableSnarf, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Decent article but...
Lost< Prison Break< 24 - Pic0, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Things happen in LOST? I thought it was just more unanswered questions...?
