- giapet, on 12/19/2008, -0/+11I just interviewed guys at Crunchyroll, prior to my even reading this article, and much of what we talked about contradicts what's Anime Almanac proclaims here-- such as that TV Tokyo "forced" Crunchyroll to go legit, which is absolutely not true. (Friend me if you want to be notified when my interview goes live.)
I really wish he'd open up comments; there's so much potential for *dialogue* on these. - JasPruett, on 12/18/2008, -0/+10I wonder if they took porn into consideration when they said the Anime DVD market was breathing its final breath?
- inactive, on 12/19/2008, -0/+8I've got a fansub P2P monster...IN MY PANTS
- bluemist, on 12/19/2008, -0/+7I know this won't be relevant to me, US-only region locks and all, but anything that legitimizes entertainment viewing on the internet is a good step forward. I believe the frontrunners of this revolution would be Naruto and similar mainstream anime. Catching up to the latest episodes in Japan will be a godsend for most, effectively killing fansubs of that show.
If you had a choice of torrent of video stream, which would you like? With torrents you will still need to wait minutes/hours until the download completes. For streaming, seconds later, you're having your fix already. And if the streaming is legal (as it will be), you have no gray-area feelings.
But the next step will be opening it worldwide, to us, the rest of the world which is often abandoned. - Gundampilotspaz, on 12/19/2008, -1/+6Don't listen to this guy. His articles are based on a twisted bias against the internet Anime community. He is so caught up in his own beliefs that it is akin to religious zealotry. Notice that he has comments disabled? It's because that his "facts" could not stand up to criticism from the community. Sure, he looks like he knows what he is talking about. But if you dig a little into the subject it all turns out to be *****.
- AshVelveteen, on 12/19/2008, -1/+5I'd prefer to watch shows legitimately. When ever I download I feel a bit guilty, but I don't have the money for DVDs :(.
- inactive, on 12/19/2008, -0/+4I didn't even know that the Japanese had lost their claim on the internet. When did this happen?
- spokenkaraoke, on 12/19/2008, -0/+4props to fan subbers especially the GITS crew, laughing man subs, you made me decade!
- JasPruett, on 12/19/2008, -0/+2No, Internet porn has lead the way to the death of the DVD. We must remember, however, that the DVD brought our porn to us when the internet was still in its infancy. Respect the DVD just the same as we respect the porn which it carried to us.
- Nastjuid, on 12/19/2008, -0/+2If they don't want their DVD sales to die, they need to stop charging $90 for a 24 episode season.
And stop dubbing them with HORRIBLE midwest voice actors. - thespi007, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1Don't you mean CD and not DVD ???
Remember Remember the porn of December ... ! - inactive, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1Through scat porn....lots of scat porn.
- Falldog, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1The US Anime DVD market is in the ***** because they're incredibly overpriced and feature lackluster (at best) dubs.
They also have a tendency of licensing series' they have zero intent on releasing in the states and being ***** about content showing up on YouTube. - dnc34, on 12/19/2008, -1/+2waf the fwack!?
- michaelpinto, on 12/18/2008, -1/+1Porn has lead the way to the death of the DVD...
- inactive, on 12/19/2008, -1/+1If only they did this with Hentai...
- Danteling, on 12/19/2008, -2/+1interesting - thanks for sharing
- mattycoze, on 12/18/2008, -8/+3This person has way too much time on their hands to be writing essays about Anime.
