- aladrin, on 03/31/2008, -0/+19Would be a better article if I had -any- idea what any of those acronyms meant. I thought all 'journalists' knew better than to use acronyms without defining them at least once?
- tehrich, on 03/31/2008, -0/+15Am I the only one who read the title, and caption, and article, and still have no idea what's going on?
- TheWriteGuy, on 03/31/2008, -0/+8For the love of God can't they wait until LOST is finished??
- Vouksh, on 03/31/2008, -0/+7Brain... melty.... acronyms... hurt....
- Tochi, on 03/31/2008, -0/+6AFTRA - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists
SAG - Screen Actors Guild - Tochi, on 03/31/2008, -0/+4From my understanding, and I could be wrong, AFTRA and SAG are both organizations that represent actor's, singer's, etc. They were going to present a joint primetime TV contract to the television industry, but AFTRA has decided to instead separate themselves from SAG and present their own contract.
- synthaxx, on 03/31/2008, -0/+4Agreed, that article was horrible.
I couldn't figure out who was doing what and why. - PinkoCommie, on 03/31/2008, -1/+4I came in here to see if someone deciphered the article. Guess not.
- HydrogenY, on 03/31/2008, -0/+2I once read something like this, but it was in very, very small print and mentioned something about the universe in perpetuity.
- OwdenBowden, on 03/31/2008, -1/+3Not for nothing but if you are reading found on Variety (an entertainment publication) you can confidently make the assumption that the acronyms relate to the entertainment industry. Further - You could always place the acronyms into your web browser and get the definitions.
On an note about this situation - Both sides are idiots for keeping this ***** up. They are losing people that pay them (US) every second. - SparksKincade, on 03/31/2008, -0/+2tehrich, I also have no idea what is going on, but I'm guessing the article is saying SAG might go on strike?
- RJLaframboise, on 03/31/2008, -1/+3What I gather from the article is the two unions used to negotiate their contracts together, but because of feuding, AFTRA has decided to go its separate way. Like someone mentioned above, I'm wondering if SAG is going to strike? Maybe AFTRA doesn't want to be a part of that. Either way, a strike would be great for Lost. Terrible show.
- HydrogenY, on 03/31/2008, -0/+1I think this article was written by a lawyer when all the writers went on strike.
- rhesusattack, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1Nope, I guess it's a real union. Whoops.

- TheKappa, on 04/06/2008, -0/+1***** actors... get back to work, you lousy meat puppets!
- rhesusattack, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1I was under the assumption that the A and F in AFTRA probably stood for April Fool's
- zway, on 02/10/2009, -0/+0bloody actors!!
