Did you not read the summary? Or is that sort of thing beyond you? - TKDWILSON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25@sirspocksalot
Idiot. What does HUGE mean to you? You WERE warned. To me, huge means a page that is 10 Mb or more. I figure that if I can't send it by gmail, it is fairly huge. I expected a flash file that was this big or bigger actually You know, clicking on a link and then closing it out because you have a crappy connection doesn't really negatively effect you that much. .
Eric Wilson - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25Good for you! It's usually the same 4 people who get stories on the front page around here.
- dan2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Broadband beware arrrghh
- alantocheri, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18It does say "..timeline with everything that's known to date".
- TKDWILSON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12@sirspocksalot
By the way, Your specks are simular to the one I am using right now and I am having NO problem. And I have torrents running too!
Eric Wilson - npinski, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11to the 100th person whining about the size of the image.
psst. You know you could just save it to your computer, open it in your favourite image editor (or even your 2nd favourite image editor, or your 3rd, or you get the picture), and zoom in and out to your heart's content. - shotmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11@sirpocksalot: 4mb is too much for your system to handle? You've got problems. I agree a slightly smaller version would probably do just well, most of the things don't need to be in size 21372 text, but there are some places making it smaller would make things harder to read.
- joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11works fine for me so far.
But if it hits the front page, the site will have issues. - nox327, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9It would probably have frozen your computer if he put in PDF.
- kacymartin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"Maybe YOU have some monstrous gaming rig with dual 512mb video cards"
so since when do you need dual video cards to display a jpeg.
good lord man, give me a break. - skunkman62, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8fellow diggers we must be tolerant of users like sirspocksalot. remember it is the new era of digg v3.0. so expect more dumb ***** like him. btw, that map be HUGE.
- benlundquist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The image is being served by esri.com the producers of the actual map making software. So...
Where is this from? Is this official "unofficial" content like the Hanso TV ads? - bs0l, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I know it's late, but sirspocksalot, if your computer crashed cause of a JPEG, then you don't belong on the internet. Stop whining.
Great find, love it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Minor complaint:
It says the “Door” is hatch “? of 6” but it wasn’t even a real hatch let alone one of the 6 stations talked about in the orientation film. Also, I don’t think the Pearl should be included in the 6 either; according to the map on the door the 6 hatches are surrounding it. - gaanagaa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Optimized and cropped Images.(smaller file size)
http://www.vakaruge.com/temp/LOST/ - jbestrom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Can't wait for new episodes to start up again.
- olddirtycr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5uhh dont most browsers have a zoom...
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Seriously... complaining about a reboot is about as lame as it gets, especially when you were warned.
I would like to see this as a page, rather than one big image though. Doesn't work well with Greased Lightbox. - antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34381K
Yea, diggmirror sucks now. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Either this thing is HUGE or the site is getting the Digg kicked out of it.
- WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4awesome map, despite the spelling errors. you'd think someone that anal about lost mythology would learn how to spell "Arrow".
- speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Here is a mirror:
http://everything0.googlepages.com/85121816138512.jpg - jonst52, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes, it was a bad choice of format. As PNG or GIF, the file would not only be way smaller as it would also have much more quality, without those awful JPEG artifacts.
- shad0w, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Haha, I thought that was intentional.
- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Damn, I was just going to post a duggmirror link until I noticed they aren't mirroring any new sections. What's up with that?
- SpaceCow!, on 10/12/2007, -1/+37200 by 7200 pixels!
- SPARTACVS, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5SOOO hard to navigate in 1024x768.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was going to add a comment similar to yours, but I didn't want to be the anal one...
- colelt1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It says the plane is a 777, its not, the plane they used for the wreckage (they used a real plane) is a L-1011 (my dad used to fly them before he retired)
- tdp05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm a huge fan of the show, as I'm sure this/these person(s)? are. If one spends as much time as it looks like they did, why not have someone spell check for you and help you spell Arrow correctly?
Regardless of that nitpick It's an amazing effort, and I'm terribly impressed by it. - Blarbo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That picture would be vastly smaller in size if it was a GIF or PNG.
- Roadkill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The map is not complete. If you remember one of the first video rolls they found of the Hanso institute there was som fotage of a small town who then zoomed in on a man in the center building. These fotages is from the Norwegian town Narvik. The produsers of Lost has confirmed that the fotage is from Narvik, check out the pictures: http://www.lost-norge.net/go/183

- innerspirit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3curiosity killed the cat :p
- nazsco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2why do you need 33in for 800x600? you could probably count the pixels making a circle around them with a marker. :)
- goodieyux3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3wow this is cool!
good find! - jtrost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's a lot of information, but I don't think a jpg is the best way to present this information. There's a lot of scrolling (especially on larger screen resolutions), which makes the information difficult to see.
- tmgneuguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just got a new home office and this would make a great poster for my wall. I wonder if I can order a 20"x30" print through Shutterfly or something of it. I guess I could always print it with my inkjet and piece together the pages (real high class).
- joshHighland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ESRI software is awesome
- Beerduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@sirspocksalot: You claim that you have a 2ghz P4 with 512mb of RAM, right? And that this HUGE jpeg completely locked up your computer, right? Now my HUGE suggestion to you is that you go and find a HUGEst sledgehammer you can find and HUGEly ram it into the side of your computer, thus HUGEly eliminating the possibility of any future claims that a 4Mb jpeg file would lock up your computer, when it is very clear, that you my good sir, have simply failed at life.
- dm1030, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34.3 Megs in size.. Best to use a download manager to snag it. Very slow.
- poipoipoi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14 lcds and probably two inches of dick, braggart.
- lokon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol where have you been? no coordinates? 4.815000, 162.342000

- djAnakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In response to the comments in this story, i'll just list them out:
- It's not 1995. Get a better computer.
- Yes, it's a large jpg. Get over it and set your resolution to something higher than 800x600. Or, just zoom out. The pic is huge to fit everything on it. If it was small and crowded, you people would bitch about that too.
- We don't need 50 different people making the same comment.
- OMG one word was misspelled. The world is over.
- You want it in PDF? Awesome! Instead of a 4M jpg, you'll have a 30M pdf. Good idea!
This map is very well done. Excellent job. - m4v1s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or use Opera's built in zoom feature.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The Pearl is the official name for the ? hatch. Watch the ? episode again.
- Chongo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1doubt it part of the ARG (Game). It's cool though....
I've been following the game very close and have NEVER come across a "probable" location for the island. I know it's in the pacific somewhere..... But there were never long/lat coordinates ANYWHERE. -
