"All propaganda must be popular and its intellectual level must be adjusted to the most limited intelligence among those it is addressed to. Consequently, the greater the mass it is intended to reach, the lower its purely intellectual level will have to be. But if, as in propaganda for sticking out a war, the aim is to influence a whole people, we must avoid excessive intellectual demands on our public, and too much caution cannot be exerted in this direction."
"The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan. As soon as you sacrifice this slogan and try to be many-sided, the effect will piddle away, for the crowd can neither digest nor retain the material offered. In this way the result is weakened and in the end entirely cancelled out." ~ Adolph Hitler - roflcawpter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23GE is the most interesting company in the world. They own a large percentage of the world's media, and are known for making anything from water filters to parts used in nuclear warheads.
- DeskFlyer, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25I'm sorry, that's not a hair question.
- SignorDildo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists. Terrorists.
Hear something enough and you'll start to believe it's the only issue we face. - kingkilr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17I get all my news from Jon Stewart... oh wait :D
- agrabob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17and what percent of the population reads digg?
this is all about the fact that the vast majority of media is owned by a handful of individuals, some of which have ties to things which conflict interst: such as arms manufacturing by GE. So they make the bombs dropped overseas and then get to decided which explosions are reported? sound right? - sickswaystop, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15and I always thought it was Rupert Murdoch
- sickswaystop, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12any type of talk about media ownership scares me
I can almost feel a takeover already, not even mentioning a merge. we're defenseless as individuals. - macewan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12How accruate is this resource since the NSA isn't listed on the AT&T map?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Another Hitler quote on the Big Lie Technique:
"It required the whole bottomless falsehood of the Jews and their Marxist fighting organization to lay the blame for the collapse on that very man who alone, with superhuman energy and will power, tried to prevent the catastrophe he foresaw and save the nation from its time of deepest humiliation and disgrace. By branding Ludendorff as guilty for the loss of the World War they took the weapon of moral right from the one dangerous accuser who could have risen against the traitors to the fatherland. In this they proceeded on the sound principle that the magnitude of a lie always contains a certain factor of credibility, since the great masses of the people in the very bottom of their hearts tend to be corrupted rather than consciously and purposely evil, and that, therefore, in view of the primitive simplicity of their minds they more easily fall a victim to a BIG LIE than to a little one, since they themselves lie in little things, but would be ashamed of lies that were too big. Such a falsehood will never enter their heads and they will not be able to believe in the possibility of such monstrous effrontery and infamous misrepresentation in others; yes, even when enlightened on the subject, they will long doubt and waver, and continue to accept at least one of these causes as true. Therefore, something of even the most insolent lie will always remain and stick-a fact which all the great lie-virtuosi and lying-clubs in this world know only too well and also make the most treacherous use of."-Hitler, Mein Kampf - pdeco, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14Wait, The Bible Network pulls in $240 Million?
- secretwhistle, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14I'd be most worried about GE. They've dipped their wick into military production.
- Alesir, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Well, according to English grammar, all words in a title (with the exception of small words such as "the", "of", or "or") are to be capitalized.
- LavaHot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8That, just, doesn't make any sense. Bush is entirely irrelevant to this topic.

- mayhemchaos, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6New World Order, anyone......anyone? One Goverment, One Media, One Religion - sounds like the beginning of movie trailer - "In a world, ruled by a New World Order.....One Man can stop it's evil hold on the world...He is..." well you should know that part ;)
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6msaleem's submission on the front page? Who would have thought? You people might as well just read his blog so we can have some diversity on here.
- Lionstone, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7God needs LOTS of money.
- g00dETH3R, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Yes but this is only half the picture, the big companies that own the media are themselves owned by wait for it ...... financial institutions (Banks). These institutions own prey much own everything.
Check it out for yourself on Yahoo finance.
- pintomp3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6his news corp is listed.
- superspud, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6You really that surprised?
- kingfrank, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5How old is this? There's no such thing as "Knight-Ridder" anymore, considering McClatchy bought the company for about $5+ million in stock and other ventures. On top of that, the company sold several newspapers to offset the cost of KR's debt. But to be honestly, you really don't have to worry about print media anymore. Sadly, newspapers are becoming a thing of the past and everything (even broadcast media) is now geared around the Internet. It won't be too much longer before you'll be able to get the news in two places: TV and the Web. And I can promise you, one will always contradict the other.
- avnerlevit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4yeh.. he's right..........................................(right mom?)
- oo7akbnd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I think Chomsky said this in Manufacturing Consent.
- cjmac87, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6government owns your media and minds!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4LOL @ you fools who "fear" terrorist attacks in North America. North America has had far, far, far, far, faaaaaaaar less terrorist attacks than the middle east, Africa, South America, all of Asia, and Europe. Check the stats to see how ridiculously safe we have it. Stop being so scared; your odds of dying while getting out of bed are much higher than dying in a terrorist strike.
Yet you morons are so scared by the media that you think an attack is imminent in your city (lol even small cities!). This propaganda ***** works. You are living proof. - dbwood, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Of course it only makes a fraction. What companies are the ones reporting about how Murdoch owns everything and is trying to take over everything? Those companies.
- DanAtkinson, on 10/11/2007, -6/+10Ever Thought Of Only Using Capital Letters At The Start Of A Sentence?
- worldinmyeyes, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Who owns the media? Mostly a bunch of criminals who manipulate the news to fit their agenda, while brainwashing the majority of the country.
- Lionstone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I wasn't aware that digg had investigative reporters onsite everywhere. Where is the "Digg" news section?
* - noseeme, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3MOOOOOOOM!!!! These guys are making fun of you!
- LastVisibleDog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Yeah - this all happened in the last 7 years.....idiot
- LavaHot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Surprisingly, it makes only a fraction of what Time Warner and GE make.
- DroidBlender, on 09/18/2008, -3/+6we also own the internet and we control satellite signals via bagel shaped dishes. Its all in the user manual : The Articles of the Elders of Zion. I liked the comics better, but that's just my taste.
- foopirata, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I'd think you're right. Gimme a sec to ask my mother, though.
- DaleoftheUK, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5One name "Rupert Murdock"......damn someone beat me too it.
- LavaHot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3You have to keep in mind that GE was an industrial company before they created consumer products. They are grandfathered into the arms business. I mean, do you think Jay Leno sees any money from the arms deals by knocking war?
- bobblender, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2wow you're pretty up to speed with memes
- haydesigner, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3ilkeryoldas, that truly was one of the most ignorant things I've read here in a long time.
Get out of your cocoon at least once in a while. - dbwood, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Of course then, it probably has nothing to do with the prevalance of terrorism..since that is all orchestrated by the government, and truly there are no terrorists right?
- LavaHot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2the candle is mostly arms, and has been for over a century.
"From the people who brought you the AK-47, present, 'National Broadcasting Company's Radio News'." - neodorian, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Business owns your government, your media, and your minds.
- Lionstone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Never.
- ch33sehead, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Apparently they own almost half of the entire media.
- shanealeslie, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Be honest, you guys may own it on paper - but your mothers REALLY control everything don't they?
I'm not being anti-semitic. I dated in the jewish community for a while and heard from a lot of jewish girls in their 20's about how they could not stand jewish men because of the power that mothers had over them. I found it very amusing that most of them ended up marrying jewish guys when they got into their 30's and realized that us bad-boy-goy-toys where not conditioned for the type of family life that they had been conditioned for (as everyone is conditioned by their upbringing to have certain expectations and 'comfort zones' for familial interaction). - clark1001, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2In name, yes, there are a lot of companies controlled by huge conglomerates. When you have a couple billion dollars in cash laying around, buying up already massive companies makes sense if they are profitable, and media organizations are no exception. Practically speaking, though, I doubt that there is much "artistic" instruction coming down from the CEO's office other than "make more money for our stockholders". If speaking truth to power every night made more money, that's what you would see on TV. But what people really want to see is guys getting hit in the balls.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This is important, if not exactly obscure, information, but it reflects the cultural Marxism of its authors. What's more important, but completely whitewashed, is the fact that all of the presidents, as well as a majority of the executives and directoral board members, are all ethnically Jewish, when Jewish Americans comprise a scant 2% of the population. It's a bit absurd to challenge the *corporate* concentration of media outlets while ignoring the *ethnic* concentration of them, or by ridiculously suggesting that they're all run by "whites" (= assimilated European Americans). European Americans comprise almost 3/4 of the population, yet have zero control of the media that relentlessly scapegoats them and attacks their culture so ignorantly and prejudicially.
- dbwood, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2and the government isn't big? Favours are done everywhere, nothing is out of the control of the almighty Dollar.
- profOblivion, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1How old is this? Viacom doesn't own Famous Players, as of two years ago...
- UnstableMind, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1So where is GM/RCA/Hughes/DirecTV/XM/Sirius? I thought they had a pretty good size foot in media? Also, who owns Dish?
