- and303, on 01/14/2009, -2/+39Every day I watch a pixelated Youtube-looking Daily Show on a giant LCD TV and would wonder when this would happen. Finally!
- KenSPT, on 01/14/2009, -1/+33What's worse than a regular Dane Cook comedy special?
A Dane Cook comedy special in HD !!!!! - pensivewombat, on 01/14/2009, -1/+28I'm sure Colbert's graphics team will cook up something ridiculous.
- WafflePirate, on 01/13/2009, -2/+23Would Southpark in high definition even look any different?
- bryantee, on 01/14/2009, -1/+20Everything benefits from HD. Period.
- luke374, on 01/14/2009, -1/+18/s
- andronmon, on 01/14/2009, -0/+17Who cares if it looks any better. I need more HD content to justify the money I spent on the shiny new HDTV.
- jerryjamesstone, on 01/13/2009, -3/+19if only they streamed it all online
- dirtymerkin, on 01/13/2009, -1/+17If only Dish Network were on the list :(
- jeffstevens199, on 01/14/2009, -0/+15about time!
- GOVStooge, on 01/14/2009, -0/+14unfortunately, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report will continue as upconverted standard def until "sometime in the future"
- PDAIsAOk, on 01/14/2009, -0/+14There is one episode of southpark in widescreen HD available on xbox live and it looks amazing. South Park benefits from HD a lot.
- doiveo, on 01/13/2009, -0/+13Hopefully this will trickle down to The Comedy Network
- Hockey37, on 01/14/2009, -0/+10One more reason to ditch Comcast for DirectTV
- scubaninja, on 01/14/2009, -2/+12Comedy in 1080p is over six times funnier than in standard def.
- colincornaby, on 01/14/2009, -1/+11BEST DAY EVAH.
Seriously. Daily Show is the only show that I still watch that's not in HD. I know initially it's only going to be upscaled, but that's still better than SD. Now lets just hope it doesn't take Comcast forever to add it... - mywhitenoise, on 01/14/2009, -0/+10animation benefits most from HD, in my opinion.
- markgl, on 01/14/2009, -0/+10NO FIOS? Dang man.
- fuzzynyanko, on 01/14/2009, -1/+9I don't know. Sometimes I see details on a person's face that I didn't see in SD, and I'll say "ew"
- MacEnvy, on 01/14/2009, -0/+8They haven't used cutouts in many, many years.
- redrighthand, on 01/14/2009, -0/+7They mention Cablevision, DirecTV And Cox but not Verizon or Comcast?
Press Release-
All-Comedy Network Now Available In High Definition On Cablevision, DirecTV And Cox
With Native HD Broadcasts Of Hit Series Such As "South Park" And "The Sarah Silverman Program" As Well As Stand-Up Specials, Movies And More - jam3p, on 01/14/2009, -1/+8Damn - no Comcast on the list. My roommate and I hardly watch Comedy Central, or a lot of other stations, because they're not in our "HD tier".
- jeffstevens199, on 01/14/2009, -0/+7hell yeahz!
- pantsperch, on 01/14/2009, -0/+6Oh, Time Warner, why must you fight with Viacom?
- nicc, on 01/14/2009, -0/+6Verizon FiOS isnt on the list either, but for the past 2+ months the Comedy Central HD channel on the guide has said "coming soon".
I'll find out when I get home. - wkeown, on 01/14/2009, -0/+6Stewart/Colbert in HD!!!!1
- DarkBlueAnt, on 01/14/2009, -0/+6Yes! South Park in HD... yup... those are graphics I need in HD.
- Zomgondo, on 01/14/2009, -0/+6Seriously. It's not that I want to see every little hair in Jon Stewart's five o'clock shadow, I just want the show to not look like *****. Even upconversion will be helpful if it smooths out the jaggies.
- mattomondo, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5What took them so long? I'm surprised at how many less-popular channels got HD before Comedy Central did.
- bwolf180, on 01/14/2009, -1/+6King of the Hill is one of the best shows out there how dare you put it next to the likes of Dane Cook
- jordanlgta, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5"We're Comcast! We won't have this channel for a few more months, but stick with us anyway!"
- duerra, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5From Comcrap? You won't regret it - it was the best TV decision I've made. The DVR alone is better in *every single possible way* than the Comcrap piece of junk, and I have no idea how the heck Comcrap calculates their statistics for the "we have more HD than satellite" commercials, but it's baloney. DirecTV has more HD, and PPV in HD, which Comcrap also lacks.
- FizixMan, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5Hopefully it won't have to trickle down. Bastards. Us Canadians are people too! Kinda...
- DigitalisAkujin, on 01/14/2009, -1/+6Took them long enough....
- ericrous, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5Time Warner is NEVER on the list. We haven't even got Scifi HD yet (I'm going to have to torrent Battlestar Galactica just to see it in HD).
- digjam, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4heck yeah...now i can laugh with jon stewart in HD :D
- Memnochxx, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Have you tried not stretching out 4:3 content?
- ayeroxor, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4"including almost 30 past episodes of the Emmy®and Peabod"
It includes Emmy and Peabod? That's my favorite show!
/Congratulations on submitting first, Jabrams2! Who cares that your submission looks like crap. You were first! Win! - useraccess, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4I'll be watching the Daily in HD!!!
- Soup4Brains, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4No *****, I'm still waiting on FX HD. What's the holdup?
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -2/+6Samantha Bee HD "mom-bags" .... in about 2 years. I will patiently wait.
- Vagari, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3I'd be more upset Comcast wasn't listed if Comcast would get off their asses and bring more HD channels to my house in general. We still only get like 10 (oh wait, Mojo went off the air, 9) while other regions of the state who also use Comcast get plenty more (and they recently raised our rates almost $10).
Every time one of those ***** commercials claiming they have more HD than satellite comes on I mutter profanities under my breath.
/end rant
Hooray for Stewart & Colbert in HD (soon)! - ericrous, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3I think he's talking about torrents.
- jls33fsls, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3It'll be widescreen.
- harlowsmonkeys, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3It would on my cable system. Comcast here on several channels (Comedy Central, SciFi, Discovery, for example) has trouble with certain colors. Certain yellows have a vertical pattern of dark lines in them. The affected channels are not related in any obvious way, and are fine outside of this region. For each channel that shows the problem, the HD version of the channel does not. Here's a photo showing the problem.
http://tzs.net/yellow.jpg
South Park uses a lot of that particular yellow. It gets very annoying, especially on scenes where 3/4 of the screen is background buildings that show the problem. South Park is the only program left where this is massively annoying, because all the others, like Discovery, have HD versions available here, and I simply watch those. - Memnochxx, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3What do you consider HD? Cause they're barely over 480 and far from 720.
- psychohog, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3No kidding, I'm actually really surprised that G4 hasn't announced anything yet. I figured they would be jumping all over HD especially.
- hsbsitez, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3you do know that you can watch the daily show @ http://thedailyshow.com ?
- DeadPlasmaCell, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3I have Comcast (Houston) and I've been able to see some of the South Park episodes in HD (via VOD) for a few weeks, which is weird since they don't offer the HD channels.. same with Spike TV, G4 and others.. I hate being teased like that x)
- ericrous, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3More like "Welcome to 2002."
