- chesterjosiah, on 10/30/2008, -3/+43At times, the campaign has seemed so incompetent that I've thought they might actually be throwing the election.
I have no idea why they'd want to do that. And it wouldn't work anyway, because there are too many people who are so dimwitted that they'll vote for "their team" NO MATTER WHAT, rather than comparing the actual candidates and their policies. - InJectaH, on 10/31/2008, -1/+38You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon'.
-Chris Rock - KingLeo, on 10/31/2008, -1/+31"You don't need to boo, you need to vote!" - Barack Obama
- socalftw, on 10/31/2008, -1/+22Although McCain's campaign is pretty damn comedic....still....go out and vote.
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -0/+18Actually, it'd make sense to throw the election this year - eight years of Bush have effectively flushed this country down the toilet - whoever wins this election will be left to clean up the mess, and thus will get blamed for all of the horrible, ***** policies of these past eight years.
- the42ndpotato, on 10/30/2008, -4/+22McCain is deadpan to the max. He is the new Steven Wright.
- yugosakimi, on 10/31/2008, -0/+15"The country backed him through most of his decisions" ...
I'd say about half the country backed him. What country were you talking about? - inactive, on 10/31/2008, -0/+14It's sure as hell not my fault, I'll tell you that much. I never supported the moron. Not when he was leading us into war with Iraq, not when he was signing the Patriot Act, not when he was stripping our civil liberties, not when he condoned torture, not when he established Gitmo...
Certainly, I see your point - it is as much the fault of everyone who backed him up on his terrible decisions, but don't smugly sit there and pretend that this country was somehow 100% behind him with no voices of dissent. - roberekson, on 10/31/2008, -2/+15The Daily Show and The Colbert Report have the best writers on TV and there's not even a close second.
- po43292, on 10/31/2008, -0/+12McCain may seem down and out now, but if we don't vote he still could win.
- NeoCortex, on 10/31/2008, -3/+14Here's a conspiracy theory:
- Throw the 2008 election by nominating a neutered McCain (as opposed to McCain 8 years ago) and a hockey-mom Palin
- Hope that Obama somehow ***** up in his first term, or at least is unable to fix everything about the country (the President doesn't have unlimited power, afterall. So it's unlucky everything will be 100% in only 4 years)
- Nominate a real candidate for 2012. Now that they are a full 4 years removed from the stigma Bush has placed on the Republican party, they have a more reasonable chance of getting him elected.
If they played their real candidate now, he would very likely lose anyway thanks to the anti-Bush voters. And running the second time after losing once already may not work as well. So I think they may just be biding their time for 4 years since this election was likely lost to them before it even started. - honesttussey, on 10/31/2008, -0/+10I won't call you a conspiracy theorist. It's entirely possible, although I hope for our sake you're wrong.
- olivcarla, on 10/31/2008, -2/+12You just didn't get it, did you?! That was the whole point! It was a bad joke/prank. Stephen sometimes is too genius for people to understand... But that is just my opinion.
- po43292, on 10/31/2008, -0/+10Who said it was a news source?
- olivcarla, on 10/31/2008, -2/+11"Remember the time he picked Sarah Palin?"
Perfect! I have been waiting for someone to say that! That was a joke (a bad joke, that is).
I love you, Stephen! You are really a genius! (Notice that he starts with a bad joke, to make the point in the end!). I just wish that more people watch this great show. - alapoet, on 10/30/2008, -1/+10McCain wishes he had a millionth of the massive coolness of Steven Wright.
- maley, on 10/31/2008, -0/+8Did they give Colbert laughing gas before this? I can't believe he pulled laughing like that for so long. Also, he sounded like Mark Hamil (ala Joker) a few times while laughing.
- bdsams, on 10/31/2008, -2/+10McCain should be put on the list as #2....right above bears
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7Uh, the video was on the first page. I have no idea where you were going.
- flyingclutchman, on 10/31/2008, -4/+10dunno why the digg downs, he really was annoying in this clip
- gweedo767, on 10/31/2008, -5/+10I thought exactly this when watching this episode (and my wife did too)
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -1/+6Damn, i thought they debunked the whole socialist thing.
- olivcarla, on 10/31/2008, -1/+6I like your train of thought, but I doubt they are this smart...
- DiggzDE, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4The moose thank you.
- omegaant, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4That is exactly right - I was watching a McCain rally and all those people cheering against themselves! I could only think these people think it's a football game and they are just supposed to cheer for their team, no matter what they stand for. Poor ignorant *****!
- Murdats, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4oh i see, you are unable to tell the difference between telling a joke and pretending to tell the news, well I guess if you watch fox long enough where the news is a joke then it might be confusing
- DukeLeto2, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4Your not alone in thinking they want to throw this election.
- Rainemaker, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4McCain on Wright.
"I got up one morning and couldn't find my political convictions, so I called Information. She said, "Hello, Information." I said, "I can't find my maverickness." She said, "They're behind the couch." And they were! - woofers07, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4actually they get to broadcast unfiltered news under their guise of 'comedy show.' Which makes them one of the best news sources in the nation. But you can go back to Fox news now if you would like.
- BoneStamp, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4@Latentk
If you think that we actually believe that McCain's campaign is an elaborate prank then you're as out of touch as McCain. - KingLeo, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4He said those exact words yesterday, but he's said it several times before. Here's a clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd3MWH4a2KA
- ArchetypeRyan, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3What a bunch of rubes!
- ShiftyBizniss, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4dugg for Canada
- BoneStamp, on 10/31/2008, -3/+6It's also possible that some people did not find it annoying.
- dondara, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4Off your meds, huh?
- omegaant, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3"Oh, I get it, she's not qualified! And McCain is so old, she might be President!" LOL
- magic6435, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3O damnit wrong post. i was posting on some image gallery. sorry guys
- Anonchrist, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2The GOP would not have a woman on the head of the ticket. Palin was just a gimmick
- EricSchC1, on 10/31/2008, -1/+3GASP!? Socialism! Oh no, Run! Douche.
- shujin, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2When did Obama say this? Do we know the context?
this is a pretty awesome quote - johnl87, on 10/31/2008, -1/+3It would be awesome if it was Ron Paul.
- vuzman, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2The really scary part is that Obama isn't that much in front. Over 40% still want to vote for McCain!
- Latentk, on 11/01/2008, -0/+1The insinuation given off by the title of this article.
- Latentk, on 11/01/2008, -0/+1I'm not sure I understood your blatant and near belligerent attack towards me, and my personal opinion. But from what I gather you do understand the entire "joke" motive both Stewart and Colbert go for. Which is great, unlike your compatriot above. As for your opinion towards fox. I am absolutely Republican, but even I cant swallow some of the stuff they report. Fox, though, is just as convoluted in poor news as every other news station. I prefer them as they cater more towards my personal ideologies. If you watch MSNBC, or ABC, or CBS, and not have a skeptical and open mind, you are going to miss the subtle hints. People pick on Fox as it is the pinnacle of Conservative news, without much competition, hell, anyone can pick on the one guy.
- xpope, on 11/01/2008, -0/+1When Wednesday rolls around and I hear McCain won, I will be looking for a new job, a new house, a new car, a mistress, the nearest bank to rob, and then, "I will have realized I was watching a Desperate Housewives dream sequence with my wife in 5 years from now".
- sphira, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1do you think they threw it for a different reason than mess cleanup Usal?
- zentehflash, on 10/31/2008, -17/+18I've never said this, and I hope I won't have to ever again, but Stephen is really annoying in this clip. The fake laughter is just horrible.
- ldailey06, on 10/31/2008, -1/+2go outside
- inactive, on 11/01/2008, -0/+1I miss "Strangers with Candy" , "Ace and Gary", and the stuff he did on "The Daily Show".
Better than "half of America is stupid". -
