- TheoDork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22It wouldn't make much sense to say "Larry King Live" and have Anderson Cooper running the show, now would it?
- SOAB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11" "... at least in part because King is not known for tough questioning."
I don't understand the interest or draw of viewers he commands. He's boring at best, and provides only a crying towel platform for his guests. His stuff isn't even close to newsworthy. PLEASE retire SOON Larry. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It's not as much an issue with the name as it is finding someone who has never used the Internet.
- velvethead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Please retire Larry, for the love of god. Nothing makes me change the channel quicker than your tired face and idiotic questions.
- Acadian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Stating the obvious much there, CNN? I can't tell if they're just being boneheaded or are just taking the opportunity to self-promote.
- Gigadafud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The guy is about 3983 past retiring already. What a terrible interviewer.
- Mahstah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I thought Larry King died years ago. His dinosaur media is on the brink of extinction.
- RockMyMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think maybe they were saying they won't use the word 'live' in the sufix of the title. As in Anderson Cooper Live instead of Larry King Live.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4hazard, stfu, love or hate fox news, they sure as hell have better ratings than CNN in the US.
and larry king live does have ***** ratings and deserves them. - jfair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This makes me so sad. Where will I get all my Sandy Koufax related news, delivered by a frog wearing Depends whose shoulder blades touch in the back?
- doofusoftheday, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I have some leftover 4x4 wood that I would be glad to donate as a trial replacement. I'm not sure if the wood would be as interesting, although it does have some nice grain in it...
- BOOFMAN, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8What viewers? His ratings stink. CNN will need to find someone really dynamic to compete and pull viewers from Fox.
- Hazardc, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Eh, who gives a ***** about fox new viewers, if they believe half of the ***** on there, they are a lost cause to humanity already
- Acadian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Who are you kidding? The man's appeared dead for 20 years.
- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They should have replaced Larry years ago. It is frustrating to no end to watch him allow interviewees blatantly lie, but because he has NO research staff, they get a free pass every time. There comes a time when you cross the line from letting someone present their side of the story and into giving a megaphone to someone so that they can spread their lies across the country.
I mean, he interviewed Floyd Landis (the guy who won the Tour de France, but lost the title due to doping) and never once asked "Did you cheat?" Or when Celine Dion went crazy on his show and said that the looting should be allowed and that it shouldn't be a big deal that they were stealing plasma TV's, since they'd been through so much? Or when Darryl Hannah stated that it was illegal for the man who owned the land that urban farmers had been squatting on to sell it? Or how about when OJ Simpson was on Larry King and was only asked ONCE whether he was guilty, and he wasn't even questioned about any of the evidenc??
Oh yeah, and then there was the time he gave 9 female senators a free campaign hour on the show. - jerbroc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think you ToeCheese are mis-informed.
From http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/nov_s_program_ranker_48377.asp
"Here's the Nov. 2006 program ranker. Bill O'Reilly is #1, Hannity & Colmes are #2, Brit Hume is #3, Shep Smith is #4, and Greta Van Susteren is #5. Larry King is #6, repeats of the Factor are #7, and Lou Dobbs is #8." - sandrino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Never mind replacing him, they should can the guy. He asks the dumbest most milquetoast questions. If he had Osama Bin Laden on his show, he would ask him how hard it is to live with kidney disease and ignore the entire 9-11/ jihad issue.
- b0b0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They'll probably just extend Anderson Cooper 360 to fill his spot.
- bizchris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And take Nancy Grace with you.
- aahpandasrun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Larry King should be doing a radio show instead of a TV show. Besides, he's an out of touch cornball.
- strebormj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2He's a partisan clown and a dinosaur, a tired emblem of the neoliberal media establishment. His departure will only be a loss for the morning talk show hosts that punk him every day.
- dogshaft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't forget about the incessant tabloid story milking!
- haxx4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Very poorly written article. No digg.
- newfoundnoise82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"The spot held by King, 73, is one of the most sought-after jobs in all of TV news."
um that show isn't news buddy. occasionally something news worthy is on but most of the time not so much. - romeyinfc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or the fact that dude's addicted to marriage (or weddings more accurately)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm sure they'll find someone to pander to c-listers and throw softballs at criminal celebrities.
- IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3My exact same thoughts.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Jay Leno will be available in a few years.
- Nekko17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You're asking him to please retire?
So you want him to die, is that it? Why don't you just say what you mea. - CarlJohn360, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I heard that in June, for Larry's Birthday or anniversary, whatever, Katie Couric will interview Larry, and then he'll announce his retirement, and then Keith Olbermann from MSNBC is going to be taking over the timeslot.
- Nekko17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@kylesellers
"Or when Celine Dion went crazy" -- Happiness just grew another leaf inside me. - szembek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Do you see what happens Larry? do you see what happens when you ***** a stranger in the ass?!
- Nekko17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't understand what you said. But I find it really funny.
- CarlJohn360, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Larry King is the face of the old CNN, Anderson Cooper is the face of the new CNN. Even though insiders say Keith Olbermann is coming, I still think that Wolf Blitzer is taking over the entire network.
- Nekko17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Mactard
A belt would make it worse, stupid! I think hot wax or liquid metal would be better.
Just like those bonsai kittens. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He does tend to grate on my nerves.
- Mactard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I heard he breaks wind a lot and it really smells. With all his money you think he could afford a belt
- mikebrowne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Larry's great. We'll miss his crazy takes on things and the looks of disbelief that his guests sometimes give him after a particularly bizarre "I'm not really paying attention" comment. Oh yeah, he looks like a hoot owl too.
- killinger777, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3@hazard
Good parrot. Want a cracker? - nodvin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yeah. DUH! Larry King Live starring ....
- ToeCheese, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You are mis-informed. Larry King has higher ratings that any other cable new program. I don't watch the show but I know that from 2001 to 2005 Larry King beat the ratings of all other CABLE new shows. Remember that the ratings for cable news is so low it can be compared to local news programs.
I think CNN should keep the label "Live" and test out replacements like the Tonight Show. Moving another show into it's slot is sure to see a severe drop in viewer for the timeslot. - pygmalion, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I think he'll retire when he dies. And if he's dead he can't be "live", right ?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think maybe they were saying they won't use the word 'live' in the sufix of the title.
http://www.silveradoboysranch.com/ - Kericr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Let's see, King hasn't announced he's going to retire, his show continues to draw consistent, strong ratings, and he does not appear deathly ill or tired enough to question his ability to continue the show. How is this newsworthy again?
- chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2They probabl;y mean that they are axing his show and replacing it with something else.
- SkyRider119, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Later Larry!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0we gonna miss larry king and his grate show :(
