- thelastknowngod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+43if NBC ***** up BSG there will be hell to pay. i dont want to have to deal with another Firefly.
- hugh59, on 11/08/2007, -0/+40The corporate suits were created by man.
They rebelled.
They evolved.
They look...and feel...human.
Some of them are programmed to believe the are human.
There are many copies.
And they have a plan. - umrgregg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34"...Writes Fight..." ?
I wish folks would go the extra mile and make an effort to at the least reread their submission once before hitting the submit button. - misterpony, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27So the Battlestar Galactica to NBC rumor wasn't true, but NBC has still managed to ***** with BSG. Nice job, suits.
- cliffzdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Writers are the unsung heroes of TV and film. Without good writing Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise would have to make do trying to get the best performance of Macbeth on TV. Actors are over paid while writers are under paid, so far as their input to create a good product goes.
- drlha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19NBC Universal own Sci-Fi, that's why they're ***** with BSG.
- 1911wolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I knew that NBC would lead to the eventual (best Adama voice) "Downfall" of the show.
Moore: "We're all heading toward a collision over digital content. Somebody's going to blink, but I don't think it's going to be the writers."
Moore and the writers have my full support to do whatever is necessary to win the fight. - MobbyG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12@ thelastknowngod
Amen to that! Has NBC done anything lately to show the writers and actors any kind of love? Just seems like to me they always seem to piss them off. But it could just be me. - reeder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12*****, I'm suprised NBC hasn't added a laugh track to the show yet.
- diggaiden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Kinda sad. While those webisodes weren't really necessary viewing, they gave a nice little backstory to some of the minor characters on the TV show. You got to understand their motivations somewhat, instead of dismissing them as redshirts.
Them being only three minutes long each kinda drove me nuts, though, along with trying to watch them on SciFi channel's site. Ugh. - 1911wolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6If you head over to the SciFi.com/battlestar site and read the blog, the webisodes were filmed during the filming of the "New Caprica" episodes.
- EGOvoruhk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I hope this isn't the begining of the end
If corporate politics bring an end to this is awesome show...I'll....I'll...cry :-( - malfourmed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7FYI Ron Moore took pains to credit all involved in the production of the webisodes here:

The WGA West position on webisodes and similiar materials is documented here (PDF):

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5And so it begins...
NBC suits are starting to ***** up the best show on television. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think it was supposed to be "writers" not "rights."
Do they still teach context clues?
Apparently they teach how to chastise typographical errors.
What about you? "Um." is a major league fragment.
Those colons should be semicolons.
And beginning a sentence with a conjunction? Come on dude. (Note: Irony Intended.) - ryannerd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Damn suits. They have the I.Q. of a...a...toaster.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I don't get why they're not paying them. What would they be out if they did? Like 50 bucks? It's not like writers get paid anything close to what they should.
- zediker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4that explains why sci-fi has become a basin of ***** recently. The only good show on sci-fi is BSG... the rest is just utter tripe and crappy action movies they try to pass off as sci-fi movies...
SPECIAL NOTICE TO NBC: Action movies with aliens, wizards, or 'crazy *****' are not Sci-Fi movies.
QUESTION TO NBC: What the F%&@ does wrestling have to do with Sci-Fi? - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And people think guilds are corrupt. Sorry, corporations are corrupt, guilds are empowering. The writers are the show. They could kill off every main character and still write an incredible show. NBC needs to get with the damn program and empty them pockets.
- Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Damn corporate sutis piss me off more than politicians. At least give them credit for God's sake.
- karn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@CharlieInCO
You got served!
...Awwwh yeah - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"r"
There you go Baddox. You dropped something. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh *****! Please tell me this is NOT happening.
Corporate infighting on the best damn show on TV is not good. /cry - malfourmed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I don't get why they're not paying them. What would they be out if they did?"
It's all about driving a wedge between what the writers (and others) get, and what the studios keep, a gap that will get substantially wider as the net/phones/ipods etc take off as distribution channels; as I soapbox at greater length here:
http://www.worldinprogress.org/wip/archives/2006/10/credits_and_res.html - zindex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I hope this doesn't cause the writers to strike again. You all remember the last time writes when on strike. We had 5 years of crappy reality show on all the channels. God they were just starting to put some good shows on the air again
- ExSlashdotter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I say frack 'em all!
- graemee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4cough torrent cough cough
- Baddox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You have no idea how mad that made me about 11 milliseconds after I submitted the story.
- Velirno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well this explains why every lawyer hands out the same BS.
- Baddox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, CharlieInCO, I blew it on missing the "r," but you really outdid me with your little ditty. "Right" is only a verb if you're doing it to a wrong.
- Shabadoo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I wouldn't have not delivered the webisodes, but rather deliver ones that consisted of Ron Moore reading from the phone book on camera for 3 minutes. I'm sure there's no stipulation that says the webisodes have to be good...
- smackfu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3A little confused here. Weren't the webisodes done during the BSG off-season, and aren't they all done already? This article feels like it's months old, even though it's in this week's Newsweek.
- CharlieInCO, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Um.
First, "rights". "Rights fight." What do they teach you kids in school nowadays?
Second, as far as the suits ***** things up, well, that's their job: they're paid to get as much as they can for the corporation.
Third, Ron Moore's no virgin: he's negotiating, the NBC folks are negotiating. But nobody wants to screw things up, because that's killing the goose laying the golden eggs. - Picard102, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This was news before the webisodes came out. Now it's just PR.
- thrich, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0Agreed.
- Four20, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2webisode?!?!
come on now. . . - AlmostEvil, on 10/12/2007, -55/+5Erm, whoops.. sorry, I accidently marked this as lame.
Wonder if it's possible to undo that?
