- fakeapassion, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Is it just me or is the audio slightly off on this video? Anyone have a higher quality clip?
- KingAdrock, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Yea the music sounded pretty generic and contrived, but I don't think that was the encoders fault:)
- Forgery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It looks like a screener. When will the studios get with the program and start releasing stuff like this on the web first?
- Ryland, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The music sounds like Nickelback. Ugh. I hope that's just some marketing *****'s messed-up idea and not an omen of how the series is going to be...
- fakeapassion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1By 'off' I meant 'not in sync'. sorry for the confusion.
- naibmichael, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Sorry about the sound, it got off when I uploaded it. I'm not sure what happened. BTw, thanks hyper for the better quality version.
- Carbito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://rapidshare.de/files/26272822/BSG_Season_3_Preview.avi
- viclopez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is like my fav show. god i cant wait. :D
- kbarrett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14It's look freakin awesome! I can't wait.
- CriX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7ahh! I'm wary of potential spoilers. But so excited for S3.
- sanman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I dunno, I didn't like the new music in that trailer. Also, it seems like they're tossing away the classical Battlestar Galactica space battles that made the original series so appealing, and instead going for the look of running through the woods like Red Dawn. This and the fact that the classical Biblical exodus plotline is being replaced with the newly fashionable mujahedin underground resistance fighter plotline.
I wish Hollywood would stop trying to be so politically correct. Exodus was fine, there's no need to try and transmogrify it into mujahedin resistance plot just for the sake of political correctness. - chaospenumbra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@sanman
They aren't trying to be politically correct at all. Season 3 parallels WWII (Europe) not an arab resistance group. I am really stoked for the new season. I'm sure there will still be plenty of machine guns and space battles. The thing about those is that they stop being cool if you have one every episode, like the original. Not only does it detract from realism if the cylons attack every week, but you don't have room for subplots, character development, Baltar's wit and sex scenes with hot women - all things that help make the new series awesome.
- jorgemir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5can't wait!!
- TheAnti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Woooooow, can't wait for this in October, I love this show. Awesome effects and good acting.
- Waylander1970, on 10/12/2007, -24/+4Now I like it too, but to say that the acting is good is a little off in my opinion. The Starbuck character is just awful and when you watch something like Lost! afterwards it really really shows.
Each to their own I suppose and I do love the series, but some of the actors are just wooden. - TheAnti, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I meant in comparison to other SciFi channel shows and movies. It isn't that hard to beat the other shows acting, but it just stands out among alot of it.
- grouchyman, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1@Waylander1970, agreed! The actress who plays Starbuck is horrible. I'd also say the chief and that lady who played the prosecutor in the first season. Other than that, the show is pretty good.
- phuibonhoa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Acutally I think the actress that plays Starbuck does one of the best jobs, especially considering that Starbuck's character is one of the most complicated ones on tv today.
- Waylander1970, on 10/12/2007, -24/+4Now I like it too, but to say that the acting is good is a little off in my opinion. The Starbuck character is just awful and when you watch something like Lost! afterwards it really really shows.
- slainbyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Greatest show on television.. Hands down.
- Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Season 2 was a little dull, but had its moments. I still feel this is one of the best shows on TV today, and like the top 3 best sci-fi shows ever. Most sci-fi shows end up being so cheesy.
I would wish though that they start airing these shows like regular television season shows, why wait until October, see 10 episodes every week, and then wait another few months for the next 10. Its worse in Canada because our networks do not pickup the show until after the first ten episodes airs in the US, this is why I download the shows. I will make up for it by buying the DVD box sets.- gentmax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I understand that they are going to do a full 24 episode season this time around.
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17Ooo...looks great. But what's with the ***** NIckelback, or whatever that is?
- daworld, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5You don't like Nickelback?? BevansDesign is a Cylon!!!!
- nigeltufnel123, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9Agreed.....Nickelback=yuck
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10Nickleback blows.
- techmonkey4u, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Yeah I noticed that right away.. the music didn't fit in with the ominous, apocalyptic, and warzone tones of the show
- theburningficus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I give everyone a nickel if it meant I wouldn't have to listen to Nickelback *ever again*. What a contrived and formulaic piece of music to put against an eagerly awaited trailer.
That is, unless BG is moving to ABC Family is being paired up with the next season of 'Wildfire.' Then that fit right in. - Anubis2051, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Does anyone know what song it was by nickleback?
- floejoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's the one that's playing on the radio right now that is actually the same song as their first single "How you remind me" just different lyrics but same emo style (The world doesn't understand me! I have to cut my wrists now.)
NPR did a nice piece on how Nickelback is essentially stealing their own music.
/don't believe me? Do a sound analysis and comparison in Adobe Audition. - SoxFanNH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yep It was Saving Me by Nickelback
- CaptainEquinox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11This is an excellent show. The best TV out there.
But that music was a truly horrendous choice for the preview. I had trouble concentrating on the characters and images, because the inappropriateness of the music distracted me. I guess they're trying to reach for a more mainstream "OC" type crowd? The standard music from the show would have been much better.- martz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Whereas I'm not a nickelback fan at all, I thought the general vibe to the song played well with the editing. Probably was just the guitar riff at the beginning that made me like it. Could've done better, but could've done much much worse.
- zadadka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Remember what they did to ST:Enterprise music in series 3 ?...that went the same way... :(
BG is a terrific show ....though I hope & pray it doesn't lose it's way with tenuous long story-arcs...
more space battles is what we want to see, right folks?...Viper cannons rattling in the vacuum, and BG's defence solutions pounding out the beat...
Now an admission of being dumb....who/what is Nickelback? - floejoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@Zadadka
who is nickelback?
An american band contrived by a record company with enough bland tones and meaningless messages designed to appeal to kids who cut their wrists because the world is so cruel.
- borchard76, on 10/12/2007, -15/+5The music was okay, but I'm still not interested.
I like Stargate much more, and Eureka which debuted last night has some promise. If they can keep it fresh and interesting, it will be worthwhile, but I can see it getting stale.
BSG seems too fragmented: I can't keep track of the core characters, and I never felt like there was enough of the story in one episode. I think I will watch it in a few years once there are four or five seasons on DVD and I get sit down and watch them all through. I am treating LOST the same way.
Stargate is a great show for watching from week to week, and they don't take themselves too seriously. BSG looks like a good one to treat like a movie that has been broken into 45 minute segments. I'll watch it a whole season at a go, not episodically.- chrisbtig, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Stargate? Please tell me you're joking.
- ChicGeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12SG-1 and Atlantis are great shows, but they don't even compare to BSG. From the production, to the story to the acting, there is no fracking comparison. Try and get into the show. Watch the mini-series and get a taste....you won't regret it.
- intangible, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I love BSG as much as the next guy, but you have to admit, it's a SciFi Soap Opera. If you niss an episode, you're screwed. SG1 is much easier to follow.
- Anubis2051, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3The acting is worse in SG? You have to be joking, stargate has some of the best acting I have scene in a while. And if you ask me, SG is a much more believable storyline, more fun (IE not always very serious, but still creates a sence of drama/fear/danger, etc.) and way easier to follow. All that said, I still think that BSG is a good show, and I still watch it every week.
- markormesher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wanna see a great comedy/sci fi show? Doctor Who baby. Here in America, they haven't released the second season yet, but when that happens watch a bunch of US tv channels try and buy the rights from Sci-Fi, and then they bite thier thumbs at ABC and that lot. SG1 and SGA went down hill as soon as they lost Richard Dean Anderson, who kept the stories in believable check.
- RocketSeason, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Man it seems like its been forever between seasons. I have high hopes for season 3.
I agree with Borchard. It is a bit hard to follow if you havent been watching from the beginning. My number one complaint for the series: Its hard to get newcomers on board.- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I came in halfway through the last season. So I went over to iTunes and downloaded every episode from the begining and watched two seasons in about two days. It was awesome.
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is true of any serial... and most of the best shows these days are serials - Lost, BSG, Stargate. You can't jump into the middle - and if you do, you're missing out.
- Razman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@RocketSeason
Agreed, but if you follow from the beginning, the greatest show currently, and in my mind, ever it surprisingly is overtaking my love for Farscape. which similarly, was hard to follow if you did not start from the start, and had long story arcs. Which made it hard to get newcomers on board also. I hope this does not bring the downfall of BSG.
- jlawson1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10frakin' great show in my opinion...
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I have tingles going up my arms. This season is going to rock!
- SoxFanNH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Awesome can't wait till Season 3 starts!!
- wylddog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6this program so rocks
- jacobu9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hope they keep up with the Bear McCreary music that they've been using so far and don't turn BSG into some sort of WB-feature-a-new-Nickcleback/The Fray/Daniel Powder-song-every-week series.
- tdp05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3haven't quite finished all of season 2 yet, but dugg because the awesomeness of the show.
- Spastastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I know i'm repeating what a lot of people said but I can't wait for season 3. It is the best show along with lost on television. Though, during season 2, if you watched all the dvds over a course of a week or two like I did, you would notice that after the peagasus arc there were like 3 or 4 episodes that was just completely useless and awfu like the apollo, the prostitute and the blackmarket story. It gave the feeling that the writing staff were running out of story ideas. Hopefully, such episodes will be absent or minimum at the most.
- jefe46, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Has anyone heard anything new about these 10 "webisodes" they were supposed to be releasing over the summer? I saw a news story about it not too long ago, but I haven't seen anything on their site about it. Were they cancelled? Anyone know?
- jmob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2hell yeah
- CrimsonBlur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I LOVE BSG! I am looking forward to Season 3, I thought season 2 was even better than 1. I really don't understand the people saying season 1 was better. I liked the stories in season 2 more, the acting was better, the characters were developed more, they tackled some more complicated social and moral issues, the production values were bumped up a notch and there were more different types of locations. I have a feeling they will crank all of these factors up even more for season 3, including the action.
Two of the top 5 shows on TV right now are sci-fi series. BSG and Lost are both excellent shows. Apparently Surface is good also... never watched it. I LOVED Invasion, it took a bit to get going but it got really good and interesting, too bad that was cancelled. I like Eureka, I enjoyed the pilot, and if that "screw on head" series gets picked up (whatever it's called) that will be a lot of good sci-fi on TV because the Stargate series are both entertaining as well. Wow! - k4st, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm surprised Nickelback was in there. I've always found the drums in most of the shows to really highten the mood. I can't wait for season 3!
- WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3holy sweet ***** christ i cant wait till october
- matusov, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hottness
- mahoutie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Nickelback...... You've got to be ***** kidding me!
- psbpv3o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3When last season ended and I heard that the next one wont be till October, I got pissed. I can't wait till the next season. I want to see how they get out of the conundrum that they are in with the cylon takeover. I have a feeling many characters are going to die....
+ That clip had a nipp! (that's hot)- fakeapassion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Thanks hyper, it looks good.
- hyper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i put up a higher quality version on my site if any of you are interested its at http://hyper123.net/files/vids/bsg3.mov
- cohortq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1With ads like this hitting digg's front page, they don't need to spend a dime on any more advertising.
BSG SEASON 3 COMING THIS OCTOBER ON SCIFI!!! - Hoffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3October is a long ways off, but it's even longer until it comes to Universal HD. Why isn't SciFi high def yet? It is the perfect channel for high definition.
- drewbeatty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think my brain exploded watching how fraking cool that was while trying to block out the immense cruddiness of the song. Nickleback - stop ruining it for everybody!
- Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Looks good, but the music just destroys the mood. Gone is the specially composed BSG-themed suspense and action music, and now we get nickelback or something.
- sabotank, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2shiny!
- netburnr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't want to wait until October :-(
I feel like there hasnt been a new BSG in years, even though its only been months. I need my BSG fix! - im3ngs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0October???
- dave9999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone know when season 3 starts in Canada?
- Zedizdead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nickelback was probably used so that they can attract a more mainstream audience. BSG is a sci-fi show that is good enough for a mainstream audience to enjoy as well.
- SoxFanNH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Or the fact that the song went well with it, if you listed to the lyrics you might realize that... Even the title "Savin Me" is rather fitting...
- DumiHard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1IDK the song really doesnt suite the show...
http://www.prisonbreakscene.com - LEDDY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!
- Saust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can't believe this isn't over a thousand Digg's?! Where's all the BSG fans?
- TeddyBearVin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0THAT WAS A BRILLIANT PREVIEW, and I do also agree that Nickelback sucks, but come on look how well that song went with the that that preview. IT WAS FRACKING AWESOME, with the begining sounds of the guitar and the way it blended with the scenes and heightened the tension and action, which made the waiting so unbearable for season 3. I like the classical style of music and Im sure Bear McCreay (SP) music will be back for season 3 as its a fundamental part of the show. I just got the soundtrack for season 2 and it is just one of the best soundtrack I have ever owned.
Like other people have already mentioned, the first 6 episodes of season are gonna be based on New Caprica, with the resistance movement in a WW2 style french movement, with people second guessing whos collaborating with the Cylons. While the ships that jumped with the Galactica and Pegasus have realised how screwed they are in their current situation and are in no way ready to mount a rescue mission.........Like how do you rescue approximately 40,000 colonials from a planet thats most likely heavily defended with cylons troops and basestars, with two undermaned and underpowered battlestars?...... (although they do as we see in the preview :D HORRAY!!!)
While Adama is feeling the guilt, after realising what he did by leaving all those people at the mercy at the hands of Cylons and Lee (whose eaten loads of pies) has had a nervous breakdown and become a wreck. Lets not talk about Kara and the rest of the colonials back on New Caprica and how fracked they are.
Nice scene: "This Kara, your mother" - with Leoben holding a kid and showing Kara.
And also at the end with guitar solo at the end conluding the part where Lee was talking to Adama with "If we go back to New Caprica, humanity just stops."
And Adama responds at the end: "Im going back"
(Cue great guitar music!)- TeddyBearVin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok to be honest Im sure the classical usual BSG music would have been good, but what they did with Nickelbacks song was pure genius, using it to show all the action that is gonna happen in October. Plus they also edited it so well that it shows the emotion and situation of the chracters so well, which is one the reasons why BSG is good and how they use classical music to do it. That song was perfect to be used, with an action packed theme at certain times (cue Viper battles and resistance fighting) to go with the scenes and yet have a sorrow part to go with the emotion filled scene (Kara holding on the cellbars look traumatised).
It was just so brilliant and nice to see a change and if it was intended to get mainstream audiences who dont watch BSG, who can blame them? I'd certainly think WOW, Battlestar Galactica if cool. But if you think just by watching this preview, that they are gonna start using Nickelback songs, just turn of the television and walk out of the door and on to a highway.
Best SciFi show ever!!!!
