- malex, on 10/10/2008, -1/+40Should this happen, I expect Fey to pull a Steven Colbert (as in at the White House Press Corps Dinner speech) and just mercilessly lay into her.
It's not like she needs to worry about her job. - shauntacular, on 10/09/2008, -1/+38I guess the joke is dead now.
- FredFredrickson, on 10/10/2008, -0/+29It might help the McCain campaign... but it'd ruin SNL.
- To0pak, on 10/10/2008, -0/+28Tina Fey should ask her what's up w/dinosaurs
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -3/+29I can't even imagine how funny this would have to be...
- PeteSchiller, on 10/09/2008, -1/+27Will this hurt or help the McCain/Palin election if it happens? What does everyone think?
- AmyVernon, on 10/09/2008, -2/+25I honestly don't know, but I always give a tip of the hat to any politician willing to make fun of his/herself in that way. Like when Biden couldn't stop laughing about his portrayal on SNL last weekend when he was interviewed on GMA this week.
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -0/+16Palin coming on the show would ruin the joke.
The joke is AT Palin, not WITH Palin. I would hate it if they sold out and brought her on to do a Palin/McCain campaign-friendly version of their jokes. That would just suck. - PedoRcketSrgeon, on 10/10/2008, -1/+16It would help Palin +100%. In Canada we have a long tradition of politicians going on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's (CBC) various political comedies (This Hour Has 22 Minutes) etc.
It humanizes the candidate, makes them look like they can roll with the punches. It also in a way acknowledges the criticisms that SNL has brought forward. Palin's handlers will only do it with pre-conditions anyways so it's very win-win. It'll be a great memento when she resumes her job in Alaska. - rz8472, on 10/10/2008, -1/+14So far it the tiny fey thing has only hurt her image -
http://www.mediacurves.com/Politics/J7046-TinaFey- ... - RobotBuddha, on 10/10/2008, -3/+16It won't be funny at all. If I've learned anything from the simpsons, it's that some people in the public eye are both desperate to appear like they can make fun of themselves, and also totally incapable of doing so. If they did this, I can promise it'll be a little joke about something along the lines of their glasses looking alike, or her accent, when there's a million ignored elephants in the room trumpeting about actual things to joke about that would be funny.
- huff51, on 10/10/2008, -0/+12funniest thing ive seen this year!
- whiteonyx981, on 10/10/2008, -2/+13This wouldn't change my vote.
That is, unless the two of them make out. - Shirleycakes, on 10/10/2008, -0/+11Twist it. Have Sarah Palin do the Weekend Update as Tina Fey and have special guest "Sarah Palin".
That would, of course, take a sense of humour. - wphj, on 10/10/2008, -2/+12Sarah Palin would be stupid not to go on. It makes her look like she's in on the joke, and she's really likable when she's got a teleprompter.
- yolanda1222, on 10/10/2008, -0/+9I agree that Fey is badass enough to do it, and I'm sure that she wants to, but SNL seems like it might be kind of uptight. Palin on Colbert would be an utter trainwreck. A hilarious trainwreck.
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -2/+11right because shes so bright and articulate
*winks* - mjbk24, on 10/10/2008, -2/+10I suppose it would be scripted anyways... like the rest of her appearances.
- n8o8, on 10/10/2008, -1/+9This would help the McCain campaign.
- yolanda1222, on 10/10/2008, -0/+8I don't know. Tina Fey is capable of utterly decimating her. But SNL doesn't seem like the show that would have the balls to do that. I would love to see Tina Fey completely ridicule her to her face, but I think I will be disappointed.
Now, if she went on Colbert, THAT would be awesome. And a terrible decision on her part, because he certainly wouldn't hesitate to humiliate her. After that correspondents' dinner I have full faith in him. - Rikkochet, on 10/10/2008, -1/+8I think it'll help - it always does. It makes the lefties smile a bit knowing that she'll play into a joke at her expense to some extent, and it makes the righties applaud her courage in walking into a hostile crowd and showing she's not rattled.
- maz2331, on 10/10/2008, -0/+7As good as Joe Pesci and Robert Denero walking on to the set of "The Joe Pesci Show?"
- Kidddrunkadelic, on 10/10/2008, -0/+7SNL was ruined long ago :(
- Jareth86, on 10/10/2008, -0/+7Clearly, she needs to watch SNL with the sound on at some point.
- Jareth86, on 10/10/2008, -0/+7A presidential candidate giving interviews?! Just what country do you think we live in?
- Callik, on 10/10/2008, -1/+8But which one's the comedian?
- idontlikeyou2, on 10/10/2008, -0/+6This would only confuse Palin's supporter. How are they suppose to work out which one is which.
- mcjaggernaut, on 10/10/2008, -0/+6Tell us how you really feel, though. Don't hold back.
- Coffae, on 10/10/2008, -0/+6Will the real Sarah Palin please wink and say "Nucuelar".
- MooseOfReason, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5"I love her, she's a hoot and she's so talented," Palin said. "It would be fun to meet her, imitate her and keep on giving her new material."
She just has to talk. The material is all right there! - mjbk24, on 10/10/2008, -2/+7Why is that?
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5When all is said and done, and you look back in a year, and you are more ***** then ever, I know I will still be proud of myself for wanting/supporting/donating to Ron Paul to be in office. Laugh now, you did 6 months ago when he was telling you all of this was going to happen.
- huff51, on 10/10/2008, -2/+7what will she say when she has no talking points?
- RobotBuddha, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5Ok, I'll admit that one was pretty great. They actually played along with the general conceit of the sketch, and were willing to have some fun with it.
- cinder, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5Failin.
- clickmyface, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5Totally agree. But, I don't think its going to happen, and I dont think Fey wants to do it. There is a reason why Michaels is quoted in this article saying they will probably have to find someone else to play Palin if she wins VP.
"I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5. So if anybody can help me be done playing this lady Nov. 5, that would be good for me.” - Tina Fey doesnt like Sarah Palin. - mikbunn, on 10/09/2008, -5/+9I thought you had to turn in your sense of humor about politics when you registered Republican.
- UberNick, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4Not if she has a Joe Cocker moment and angrily glares at her double.
- Twenty, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4I had to check to see if I was getting Onioned when Palin said that she thought Tina Fey was "a hoot."
- petebot, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4That show was more making fun of characters they've played, instead of calling them incompetent, crazy idiots.
- LilJimmyNordin, on 10/10/2008, -1/+5A Fey-Palin meeting is just your typical publicity stunt/ratings grab. If they're smart, they'll combine the two names and just call it Failin'.
- empraptor, on 10/10/2008, -3/+7Tina Fey is the lookalike? Most people I know remark how much Palin looks like Fey, not the other way around.
- rheaume, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3Maybe stab her w/knife?
- Idietired, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3The joke isn't dead until Lorne Michaels gets Will Ferrell, Darrell Hammond, Dana Carvey and Dan Akroyd to play George W., Bill Clinton, George Bush Sr., and Jimmy Carter (respectively) all on the same stage.
With Fey as Palin and current cast members filling out McCain, Obama and Biden, they'd make you think they've rounded out the political line-up just before Randy Quaid comes out dressed as Regan back from the dead and millions of viewers around the country would have their minds blown all at once.
With a political skit that epic, it'd be another 30 years before they could top it, and THEN the Fey/Palin joke would be dead. - UltraMegaFilms, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3Especially after Katie Couric, the McCain campaign is certainly not going to let her go anywhere before securing the script and making sure there are no unfavorable curveballs. That is why she keeps complaining about the questions the media is asking her. They aren't the ones that she wants to answer!
- diggdowner, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3I'd watch if they started kissing, but I'll pass otherwise.
And this better not sway a single vote in Palin's favor... - Aethirig, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3Cue the matter/antimatter explosion.
