- UbIwerks, on 09/06/2008, -1/+46I miss Arrested Development.
- elbrince, on 09/05/2008, -2/+45Its not one guy or gal, several people submit articles, with some permanent writing staff.
- hamobu, on 09/05/2008, -7/+36I just remembered the reason why I don't watch TV anymore.
BTW, the guy (or gal - I am too lazy to look it up) that does cracked.com is brilliant. He is a funny writer with keen insight into the popular culture. Too bad his work is ephemeral. He (she) should write something of lasting value like a book - Soulbow2, on 09/05/2008, -9/+38The Office starts September 25!
- heretik, on 09/06/2008, -1/+28I cheap trick web pages use to get more page views: Spanning long lists across multiple pages!
- Khast, on 09/06/2008, -1/+25In 2003 I had a surge run through my house, destroying everything, including the surge protectors. (They were repairing a major line in front of the house, when they connected, there was a huge spark, and....well, the only electronic devices which worked were the ones on the UPS and the brick styled A/C adapters...)
TV was fried.... It wasn't a really lengthy goodbye...in fact, I still don't have a TV to this day. And frankly, I don't miss it. - inactive, on 09/05/2008, -2/+21Get the dvd seasons when they come out, you'll save some brain cells and a possible aneurysm.
- tombonneau, on 09/06/2008, -0/+19Pretty sure the exact same list called 5 Cheap Tricks Radio Shows Use To Keep You Listening could have been written in 1920.
- NathanielJ, on 09/06/2008, -0/+16Yeah, and the first three seasons were basically about how much Jim wanted to get together with her, and oh does she like him, doesn't she? Why is she still marrying Roy? Oh they kissed, are they getting together now? Oh good she's not marrying Roy, but oh drat now Jim is with Karen, etc etc etc.
It's the exact same thing. - Yetisquatch, on 09/06/2008, -0/+15you dont need a tv to watch tv shows. youre sitting in front of an "on demand" system right now. i for one enjoy downloading my shows and being able to watch them without commercials whenever i choose to.
- lefthandpisces, on 09/06/2008, -0/+13way #1: in the promos for the show include quick snippets of some hot titties with some suggestive dialogue.
People will watch anything with the possibility of sex. - technohawk, on 09/05/2008, -0/+12For this article though, the author is ALL man. Seriously, I have to shave 7 times a day.
- bigcynic, on 09/06/2008, -1/+13How come "making good shows" isn't on the list?
Oh, that's right. You said *cheap* tricks. - Dumbledorito, on 09/06/2008, -0/+11#2 really doesn't apply to BSG, since, well, that's how the Cylons were set up in the first place.
But for "Voyager," yeah; every time someone "died" it turned out to be a duplicate, a time-travel story, or a holodeck accident. Lame, lame, lame. - althanis, on 09/06/2008, -0/+11"I had an electrical surge that burned out my TV, and I haven't repaired it or bought a new one."
There, fixed your autobiography so it's fit for consumption. - jjb123, on 09/06/2008, -1/+12Go die in a fire.
- gfxlonghorn, on 09/06/2008, -1/+12How come the "The Wire" wasn't on the list in anything... oh wait, maybe because it doesn't need to use cheap tricks to be the best show of all time.
- mnortei, on 09/06/2008, -2/+12***SPOILER ALERT***
- MrZee, on 09/06/2008, -0/+10The women are smokin' though.
- Yetisquatch, on 09/06/2008, -1/+11i love heroes but they are guilty of an even worse crime.... holes in the writing of the characters and plot. i guess that is kind of expected when you introduce so many characters with godlike powers though.
- MalharP16, on 09/06/2008, -0/+9insult is a lost art in our culture
- webkami, on 09/05/2008, -9/+16LOST pretty much does all five, great show anyway.
- willster580, on 09/05/2008, -1/+7#1 is so true. I admit to being a victim of that evil practice.
- DyceFreak, on 09/06/2008, -3/+9what about the non-listed annoyance of not having a scheduled show play for... no aparent reason, expecially when its well known that they have episodes on tap, and there is no sports game or political BS on instead... just an unannounced re-run in the middle of prime time... that I think is as low as it can go.
- InetRoadkill, on 09/06/2008, -1/+7I quit watching TV for the most part because there is no continuity to the shows anymore. There are so many commercial interruptions that it's become nearly impossible to follow the show's action. 3 minutes of show and 5 minutes of commercials. Who needs it.
Pay TV is even worse than the broadcast stations. The only way to watch a show is with a DVR now. - Foliot, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5Unfortunately, Heroes - one of my all time favourite shows - takes advantage of almost all of these tricks. If season 3 doesn't shape up and stop sucking I might stop watching
(I know, I know - ohnoez one less viewer whoopity ***** - but still.) - TheWebSwinger, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5If Jim and Pam are the couple that keeps getting back together and breaking up, I dunno what I'll do.
- norman619, on 09/06/2008, -2/+7"or just steal the shows off Bittorrent"
How does one "steal" something that is freely given away to anyone with a TV set? Downloading shows currently being broadcast over the public ariwaves is pretty much the same as recording them for later viewing. Only difference is that when you download them the ads have been stripped out. - bmystry, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5What? Heroes does this all the time Next Week on Heroes!!! SOMEONE WILL DIE!! Main character dies then gets brought back to life.
- Firespray1138, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5Who shot Mr Burns!?...
- OrangeSoda31, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5Seriously, Digg doesn't work that way.
- crazyechidna83, on 09/06/2008, -3/+8thats why i hate that show, it uses every single trick and mystery in the book to make a huge confusing jumble of a plot.
- imitokay, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5I only keep my tv to play video games on ... not for shows
so good for you - twertyto, on 09/06/2008, -1/+5Everyone hates you.
- mykalimba, on 09/06/2008, -2/+6"the weapon has no affect"
Spellcheck FAIL! - filldeviant, on 09/06/2008, -0/+4Is your child in dire jeopardy? Find out at eleven after the game.
- hamobu, on 09/06/2008, -0/+4Oh Yeah? Which body part are you shaving?
- NathanielJ, on 09/06/2008, -0/+4It told you what shows they were going to talk about every time before talking about them.
- ben_nushmut, on 09/06/2008, -1/+5no and no. ***** off.
- RobotBuddha, on 09/06/2008, -0/+4I know at least one of the people who write for cracked has a book, "John Dies at the End". One of my all time favorite horror/comedy novels.
- MikeyMoose, on 01/30/2009, -0/+4Damn! I was expecting Cheap Trick! "Mamma's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weeeeird..."
Anyone? Anyone? I can hear you breathing... - Khast, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3"I have a short attention span"
Fixed yours as well...hope you like it. - Richandler, on 09/06/2008, -4/+7I hate tv.
- misilman, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3gud?
- Firespray1138, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3But then you're out $30-$50...
- misilman, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3Or TPB... It works for me. :)
- smurfen, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3On the next Arrested Development...
- zer0nix, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2the monkeysphere article is epic and should still be relevant in 50 years time.
- ecualung, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2Oh yes it did--that weapon walked with a certain swagger and spoke to all its friends condescendingly. It certainly had an "affect".
- chicagog19, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2If everyone used bittorrent, then companies wouldn't pay the studios for ads and they would stop making shows. Some of you say that there is nothing good on tv and that is fine if that is your opinion. However, I still enjoy some shows and hope that they continue to be made. Heroes, House, Prison Break, Lost, South Park, and pretty much anything on HBO. If you don't like commercials, just use a DVR or a media pc witha tuner card.
