- Crazymaniacc, on 08/26/2008, -0/+69That list is totally gonna change in a few weeks when the top series like Prison Break, Dexter, Californication, HIMYM, Pushing Daisies, TBBT, The Office, Desperate Housewives,etc... return.
- Smigge87, on 08/26/2008, -4/+69I thought it was mostly tech savvy people and the like who used bit torrent, but when the hell did they start liking project runway?
- WickEd101, on 08/26/2008, -3/+52No surprises there. Nice to know.
On another note, I've always said Nielsen should track all the illegal downloads. - AmyVernon, on 08/26/2008, -1/+40I'm surprised the Olympics opening ceremony was still on here...
- dontdoitjake, on 08/26/2008, -4/+38RIAA THE *****
- Elias1, on 08/26/2008, -1/+25Nielsen tracks which shows are most watched, not which shows make the most money (as your analogy implies).
A more accurate analogy would be Armani counting knockoffs when determining which styles are most popular. - mrebay007, on 08/26/2008, -6/+26I can't believe Fifth Gear is on the list and Top Gear is not. These two shows are worlds apart.
- smarusich, on 08/26/2008, -5/+24Fifth Gear??? Why not TOP GEAR!!!
- ngmcs8203, on 08/26/2008, -3/+20When they got girlfriends, married or became women themselves. Way to assume that tech savvy people = males
- kiiwii, on 08/26/2008, -0/+17I take it you didn't see the episode where you see Mary-Louise Parker's boobs?
- alapoet, on 08/26/2008, -7/+24Two of the best shows on TV, Weeds (#2) and Psych (#9) are on the list.
- synystar, on 08/26/2008, -2/+19Why don't you post all these comments under your main account? You created DogsBollox today for the sole purpose of making comments about top diggers? Lame.
Are you envious? If so, follow their well documented techniques for getting submissions to the front page (by the way, this includes using a large portion of your free-time to find and submit stories so keep that in mind) or if not then get over it. You could also stop using digg.com. You have choices you know. - gab00n, on 08/26/2008, -0/+16Dexter especially, I can't wait.
- Crazymaniacc, on 08/26/2008, -0/+15Top Gear is showing re-runs at the moment. I think the new season starts in October.
- a1cd, on 08/27/2008, -0/+14not sg1, Atlantis
- MaxIsBored, on 08/26/2008, -2/+16I'm surprised that the author seemed so surprised about this.
- crazyjake, on 08/26/2008, -0/+14i just can't wait until Heroes starts back up again! ...and Doctor Who in 2010.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 08/26/2008, -0/+13They haven't started airing new episodes yet.
- Owwmykneecap, on 08/26/2008, -2/+14Smigge its been a long time since only tech savvy people torrented.
Everyone I know does it. and since most people I know are female college students..
thats how project runway does well. - spammishking, on 08/27/2008, -1/+13I'm more surprised Project Runway is there. Is there a large gay pirate population these days....
- fragmanlivith36, on 08/26/2008, -3/+14Burn Notice FTW!
- underdog138, on 08/26/2008, -0/+11But you know, imitation is a form of flattery. Counting knockoffs to see which styles are popular might actually have some merit to it.
- greepoman, on 08/26/2008, -3/+14I can think of a couple reasons..
1) It's 4+ hours so it's gonna take people longer to download in the first place
2) Added hype with news reports of the "faking" of some fireworks.
3) Added publicity from them showing clips of it all the time throughout the 2 weeks and because of the closing ceremony
4) One of the best things you can use to "demo" your new HD set
5) It was freakin insane...there's just some things you can't do with capitalism lol - Crazymaniacc, on 08/26/2008, -3/+13doesn't rly matter, this season sucked in comparison with the previous ones.
- Jerky1312, on 08/26/2008, -0/+10Tech savvy people didn't start to like project runway, but Bit Torrent has become very main stream.
- nomadofthewaves, on 08/27/2008, -1/+11ENTOURAGE
- ZzFDKzZ, on 08/27/2008, -0/+9They announced this last week.
- Destrider, on 08/26/2008, -1/+10And of course the networks demonstratate, once again, how in tune they are with their audience by canceling Startge SG1.
http://www.tvsquad.com/2008/08/21/stargate-atlanti ... - inactive, on 08/26/2008, -5/+14i see that deadwood didn't make the cut, you heathen ***** sicken me
- Wangeye, on 08/27/2008, -1/+9My wife loves project runway, I wouldn't be surprised if a large majority would download it for their significant others.
- McKoKslarge, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8it also came back because of dvd sales. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_guy
- Apocalyptic0n3, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8Eureka is only number three? Damn. People really need to watch that show more. It's awesome. I have to miss it tonight though. Damn floor meeting.
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -2/+10Project runway...? Really, that show?
- SealandRes1, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8You've obviously never seen Dexter.
- cadmiumpaint, on 08/27/2008, -1/+8it came back because of cartoon network.
- synystar, on 08/26/2008, -0/+7Oh ... I just realized that's a weekly list. I really should pay attention. I just scanned the shows quickly without reading anything else, but you'd still think that Olympics 2008 would have alerted me, as well as the obvious missing shows if it were all-time. I can be a dumbass. And often am.
- silverzone, on 08/27/2008, -2/+9Nope, You're the only one.
- OperatorS, on 08/26/2008, -0/+7how about a list of the top tv shows & movies downloaded for all of 2007? way more interesting...
http://torrentfreak.com/top-10-most-pirated-movies ... - AndrewDB, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7Too bad Stargate: Atlantis has been canceled.
(News was announced today at the SG-1/Atlantis convention.) - dext3r, on 08/27/2008, -2/+9***** Prison Break so hard.
- dext3r, on 08/27/2008, -1/+7boobs were OK, but still doesn't change the fact this season is kinda boring. And with that, I'm off to watch episode 11.
- m0zzie, on 08/26/2008, -3/+9at the risk of being dugg down to hell for being "that guy", i'm going to ask this anyway..
why front page again, digg? TorrentFreak posts the up-to-date top 10 list every single week. does it really need to keep making front page? seems like someone just wants to up their "made popular" count.
/rant. - solidus636, on 08/27/2008, -1/+7Nobody cares.
- Mawds, on 08/26/2008, -0/+6Don't forget the Doctor Who specials through 2009
- mlvassallo, on 08/26/2008, -2/+8You can get Psych and Burn Notice on Hulu anytime you want it.
- danconia, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6Um can't you just go to a torrent search website and pick "Top [xyz]" where [xyz] is like 10 or 100 or something like that? Like on The Pirate Bay they have a top list... so I'm not sure this is much of a big find and am surprised that it's being dugg up.
- synystar, on 08/26/2008, -3/+9I'm not worried at all. If you look at my profile, in three years I have 17 submissions and 0 popular. I think it's wrong that you would promote automatic burying of content that I might want to see based solely on the submitter. You do realize that this is not democracy that you are promoting? It's more akin to a fascist coup.
- Kohaxx, on 08/26/2008, -1/+6I really hope the ratings are good enough to keep Stargate Atlantis on the air, as a fan who has heard about the rumors of cancellation if their ratings didn't pick up before this season, I'd be upset if the Stargate series ends because they don't count downloads as ratings.
- SPECOPS, on 08/26/2008, -0/+5 (QUOTE) Why? The people who make the shows get nothing from illegal downloads (/QUOTE)
(1) First off, downloading content (tv shows and mp3s, etc.) is NOT illegal (uploading / distributing them to more than a few friends, however, is Illegal in some countries.)
(2) Second, they get exposure - usually to folks overseas. People then buy the DVDs - I'm not saying its A LOT, but people who get exposed to something that normally they would not (e.g. they don't have TIVO, they don't have Cable, etc.) may just get cable so they can watch that show, or may buy the dvd etc.
(3) Third, like it was said above, Neilson sells reports of who watches what, how much, and when - they don't report money/content ratios. -
