- snypa, on 10/12/2007, -12/+51that was pretty cool, few minor details wrong such as marge and maggie sitting in opposite sides of the car compared to the actual, but very nicely done.

- haphazardly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30Re: Location of Springfield.
In fact, the makers of the show have gone out of there way to confuse the matter show after show. It has become a regular gag. On the DVD commentary, they stated that they haven't decided, it doesn't matter, and that a good guess would be "Springfield, Anywhere in Generic USA" (not a verbatim quote). - vann, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Springfield isn't anywhere in particular. There are tons of geographical contrdictions and other such things. For example, Springfield is near the coast (re: the episode where Springfield decides to deport all illegal immigrants) but also has a large mountain, the Murderhorn (re: the episode where Homer tries to climb it). Also, it snows in Springfield, but can't be so far north that six inches of snow wouldn't cancel school.
There are non-geogrpahical contradictions, too. The radio station is KBBL, which means that Springfield is almost certainly west of the Mississippi since the name starts with a 'K,' otherwise it would start with a 'W.' However, there's an episode where Bart returns a squishy bottle or some such for a dime, but Michigan is the only state in the Union where you can return cans for a dime.
So where is Springfield? Nowhere in particular. Or, really, anywhere that's convenient for the episode. - eddieroger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Yes, it was British. The car position, roads were dead giveaway. Still, incredibly awesome, considering they make it live action.
Also, the band instructor was spot on. - EddieW, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Looks to me like the UK.... So thats why they were at wrong sides!
- cyb3rllama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Excellent treatment. It would be nice to know who produced this and why.
- Pharmboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15They left it obscure for many years, but have painted themseves in a corner, and Lisa even admitted it in one episode, with her comment "It's a bit of a mystery, yes, but if you look at the clues, you can figure it out."
In episode 248, it was revealed they live in Northern Kentucky. Goggle it or search http://www.tv.com. It was the fake VH-1 "Behind the Laughter" episode. - cduquette, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Great! Any idea who actually created this? It'd be cool to see what else they've made.
This is almost as cool as the real life Simpsons HOUSE!
http://www.lasvegassun.com/dossier/misc/simpsons/photos03.html - gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Yeah i noticed that too, i think it was filmed in Britain though, definitely not America check the license plate. I think they drive on the opposite side of the road there. need someone to confirm that
- ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Explain this:
Homer drives on left in car, however marge drives on the right side of the car.
:S - benspicer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11this was filmed in the UK, you can tell because:
- the cars, they're all european, but yet right hand drive
- the policeman that bart skates past
- the signs (like the 'danger high voltage')
incredibly well done, just like the real thing.
edit: anyone else noticed if you edit your comment you cant add the plus sign in? plusDigg :) - marnaq, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12It is not clear which Springfield the cartoon takes place.
- yllabianbitpipe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8That was pretty cool, but also scary because it reminds me of those crappy live action cartoon remake movies like "The Flintstones" and "Dennis the Menace." I hope that never happens to the Simpsons.
- thepandoras, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11This was filmed in England, and will be used as the opening scene in an upcoming episode.
- DJB31st, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9More on the video from "the sun" newspaper
http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2004580002-2006100428,00.html
turns out they are using it for a new episode - magicmonkey23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I remember there was one done for british tv to celebrate 10 years of The Simpsons some time ago. It might be the same one.
- Gruesome, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Homer's plumber's crack is especially nice.
- craigeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7also the green thing didnt bounce up and back into homers suit. though that would be hard to duplicate. very well done
- navster15, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8That was freakin' awesome. I can't believe that in the 15+ years that the Simpsons have been airing no one has thought of that. +digg
- skellener, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Google Video has it as well...
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2231271827736577327&q=simpsons - kday, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Compare this intro to the real one:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hxeDS4-vlAI&search=simpsons - richardiscool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It was filmed by Sky One
- hadem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Pretty well done. There were a few minor things missing, like when Homer drops the nuclear waste, it just falls, but then suddenly he has it in the car, and if I am not mistaken, doesn't Bart turn on the corner and not go straight?
- skippy2057, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Very clever and well done - "Homer" even showed some butt crack at one point....
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I wish I could digg that twice. That was awesome. Does anyone know what that was put together for? It looks a little too professional to be merely a fan film.
- RadicalBender, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, that was done only in the first season intro. They redid the opening sequence for the second season.
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Digg for sheer beauty and "I WILL NOT EAT THINGS FOR MONEY".
Again, some mistakes, but I'd be shocked if this DIDN'T become a Simpsons movie trailer... - crazyman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Really well done camera work. I however don't think they did a good job repeating some of the shots. The person who played Lisa was pretty bad seeing how she had no idea how to play the sax.
- indiefan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually, the behind the laughter episode was supposedly (according to the producers) meant to be profiling a fictitious simpsons family who were actually actors in a tv show. I guess this was supposed to be a joke that went wrong.
Although, in the second season he goes to mail a letter and it looks a lot like an "IL" on the envelope to me.... - ddufour, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4In the old original Simpsons episodes, Bart went straight.... no turn. I noticed when I got Season 1 DVD.
- jamesperkins, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Maybe they got an imported car in to film homer, because he has to sit on the side he was on to throw out the nucular rod, you can drive left or right handed drive cars in the UK, as long as your on the right side of the road.
PJ - Daedrik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2NRA4EVER was a gag for that one episode. It reads $847.63: the monthly cost of raising a baby at that time.
http://www.snpp.com/guides/lisa-3.html#3.1.4 - berzerk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that was cool. i was looking forward to that last part when they all sit down.... but nothing happened
- aquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In the opening sequence, Homer tries to throw away the glowing rod, but it bounces back up and tucks in his shirt. When he's driving home, he feels it behind his collar, reaches back, and throws it out the car window.
- Opelious, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Aww, no giant shoe to crush them when they sit down?
Great video, though. - mikedpirone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The simpsons is a great show. It's the only show that after 18 seasons can still make me laugh every time. Family Guy is definatly close but can never touch the simpsons.
- srodolff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The clothes were all wrong. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie should have been put in there trademark never to change clothes.
Still awesome though. - dbrodbeck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The 'Real Lisa' is a cartoon and is unlikely to know how to play anything....
- NeuralOverload, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Absolutely amazing, i thought it was going to be some crappy remake but it appears it was made professionally.
- MrTea, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3haha! Dugg! I hope there's a futurama one soon *whistles*.
- TexMachina, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Auuuugggghh!!!
I put this link on YouTube last week myself when this digg link was first submitted but hosted with a slower server. Now I am getting flooded with YouTube updates about people are commenting on the video and others are subscribing to "My Videos". My Videos?
What have I done? There's got to be a way to stem the tide. Some option on YouTube, or maybe just change the email in the profile.
It certainly is true that no good deed goes unpunished. - Snyder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I just watched this a few hours ago. Great quality. They get the angles, the editing, etc. very close to the cartoon. Great job. I only wish I knew who made it.
- humanchimp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3definately UK, look at the policeman when "bart" is skating down the road
- okcookienc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It says NRA4EVER, not "no sale." Troy McClor explains that Matt Groening is a gun nut.
- bentrop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Those were my thoughts exactly. I wonder why no one else expressed that concern before. I thought "Cool!" and "oh my god, I hope they will never make a live action Simpsons movie like that!" at the same time.
- Carv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I heard this was a 'couch gag' from season 18 of the show. Anyone know anything about that?
- dropkick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I love it! I'd like to see a hi-res version too.
- haphazardly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In response to stoops:
"were you expecting a big foot to come down and squish them all? lol"
Perhaps you wanted the coach gag from Season 5 where the wall behind the coach raises as a curtain to reveal a stage with elephants and dancers all taking part in an elaborate, choreographed flourish? - _kas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's really clever. Of course, there are some inconsistencies, but it's a good effort. Cool idea, overall.
