- skywake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+77Spam is bad....
myspace profile spam is a crime against humanity..... - exile, on 10/12/2007, -14/+78whoever found this is a genius.
- jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -5/+67@Doxx & Everyone else here digging down Davidu
Did you happen to notice the guy on OpenDNS who posted that blog topic is named David Ulevitch?
I think the guy with the username Davidu is the same guy, hence his jokes make more sense and he shouldn't be getting dugg down.
Sorry but someone had to say it. - OmniMe, on 10/12/2007, -5/+62What's so wrong about myspace.com timing out?
What's even more impressive is someone who uses myspace.com was able to figure this out. - SwabTheDeck, on 10/12/2007, -21/+74@mthode
brace yourself, your brain might implode: "ping" actually exists in operating systems other than linux. - swaxhog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+52Now do it for the other 4/5th please.
- mdshort, on 10/12/2007, -4/+55In Windows:
nslookup myspace.com
In linux:
host myspace.com - eonblue, on 10/12/2007, -6/+44Any person who knows how to use ping would be able to figure out why they can't reach myspace in a matter of seconds. But then again most people who know how to use ping wouldn't be caught dead going to myspace.
- Calypsoaf, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38I was about to ask...
Since when has Myspace actually worked anyway? - gstuartj, on 10/12/2007, -9/+43Yeah. But that's not ping.
- doxx, on 10/12/2007, -8/+40Yeah totally, that guy is really smart... I hear he works at www.cachefly.com, smart dudes.
- exile, on 10/12/2007, -5/+37There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of DNS entries I allow to live.
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -16/+44Hahaha, there's no place like 127.0.0.1!
- davidu, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29You've got questions, I've already got your answer cached!
- TortfeasorG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26tool
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27 Ah, there's no place like 127.0.0.1...
- molecule, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24strictly speaking, 127.0.0.1 is MY SPACE.
- picciano, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26I am the adminstrator for myspace.com. I think you guys really need to look into this internetworking stuff some more. That IP is working fine from our servers so it must be your localized configuration.
- squirrelza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18I think I prefer 127.0.0.1 to MySpace
- noamsml, on 10/12/2007, -12/+28Hey! Myspace.com copied my website!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Maybe they did this to lessen server load by about 1/5th ... like how neopets used to have a neopets is down page that you could get rid of by pressing refresh.
Of course i don't completely understand how DNS works.
and i just admitted to using myspace and neopets... - adstretch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17and 1/5 of all emo kids cried themselves to sleep last night.....
- Pharmboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Ok matrixclown, you win. That is the most annoying website. Ever.
- steevo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Wow look at the size of that Time To Live, its half a day
- jtjdt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15I provide on-site tech support, and I switch almost EVERYONE to OpenDNS. You've probably got at least 89 new customers from me. No telling how many people they've told ;-)
- digdugsmug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12the coolest way for a digger to display myspace's dns is with the dig command!
bash-2.03$ dig myspace.com

It's part of the new and improved myspace load balancing system. This way you have a one in five chance to have lag free browsing and ultra fast downloads.
Ooops, they forgot to distribute the cached copies first! - alanmarchman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6i got sick of my students sitting on myspace during class and not paying attention to my lectures, so i put a hosts file on all the student computers that said myspace's ip was 127.0.0.1. imagine the surprize and frustration as they tried to get to myspace in vain.
i had warned them like 3 months in advance that i was gonna do it. they obviously didn't believe it and just forgot. when you teach web design and development for a living, myspace = evil. - msikma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7MySpace seems to have more mistakes. I only just created one, but for some reason it cannot remember that I'm logged in. I also had to register with a UK postal code (12345, which it apparently translated to an address in America) because my correct Dutch postal code kept being rejected.
- gridrunner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6myspace has always been a technical disaster area.
- SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Of course it is, it's on MySpace!
- JonForTheWin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5127.0.0.1 has sexy users.
- giid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5alias digg=dig
- Aanr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Seems to me they have taken a step in the right direction. They only have to fix 4 more entries to make everything right.
- greyfade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4aww, they fixed it.

- MrBrightside, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5myspace failed like 3/5 times whenever I tried to use it - I ended up just cancelling my account - tis a crap website anyway!
- tadda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I find your assumption that any admin in a Windows environment must be an idiot amusing. i find you advocacy of an IT monoculture a telling sign that perhaps you know nothing of systems administration.
- mentat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Joel: "Oh look! It's Mitchel's profile!"
Crow+Servo: "MITCHEL!"
Mike: "Hey, that's not nearly as bad as The Price of Space's profile, or the one of the villain from Space Mutiny." - digdugsmug, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Amen, its fun and all but what a POS website
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I am constantly amazed at how such a crappy, dysfunctional site became so popular.
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4...so myspace (obviously) doesn't have a graphic designer (of any skill anyway), and now it has become apparent that they are skimping on the techies as well. Oh well, when you're run by a multi billion dollar corporation, you have to make a few cutbacks I suppose.
- dokbeast7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just another example of how a product or service doesn't have to be any good for it to be popular. I bet you can find a correlation between people who use myspace and people who listen to popular music, most of which is crap.
- timrosenberg, on 10/22/2009, -0/+3yeah it's too bad swaxhog already said about 2 hours before he did.
- SuburbanDave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Excellent work.
I had to do the same thing to my old boss. There didn't seem to be a pop-up or banner ad he wouldn't click on. I ended up putting what felt like half the friggin net as 127.0.0.1 in his hosts file. - xero9, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3www.myspace.com doesn't appear to have the same problem

- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I have that shirt. The unfortunate (or fortunate, depending on your outlook) part of wearing it is the dumb looks and questions about how the shirt doesn't make any sense. Of course, that's when I do a double-backflip jumpkick to their face and tell them they're not 1337 enough to understand.
