- macguy815, on 10/10/2007, -6/+106This proves DRM doesnt work... it was a protected file, but it still gets onto torrent sites. Who woulda thunkit?
- kalel90, on 10/10/2007, -3/+41This happened a week ago its already been fixed and people who bought the episode got the premiere and a $2 credit.
- Rikushix, on 10/10/2007, -3/+38Apple is not getting good press lately.
- lazyrussian, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27yup, blocked.
- CbME, on 10/10/2007, -60/+85Too bad that this couldn't have happened with a show that was actually worth watching
- SpookyET, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22You're an imbecile.
- darkNiGHTS, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19DRM just stops the average user from giving it to a friend for free.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -18/+35Rotten Apple.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20DRM doesn't prevent anything from making it to a torrent site or p2p network.
- Woah_G!, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19SG1 > atlantis
- mistafreeze, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Stargate is anything but low budget, the people working on the vfx, do so by choice, I know some people who work on the vfx at the show, most everyone there choose to work there, and they do all they can do within time and budgeting constraints (which is quite a damn lot).
It's not like they use cheesy effects, the vfx on Atlantis are superb - antoniojvr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10B-L-O-C-K-E-D What does that spell?
- nonnald, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8except that the RIAA probably wouldn't have much say over Stargate, unless it was the new Broadway musical ensemble Stargate
- MioTheGreat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Amazon accidentally did that last year, too. Same show. They put out half of the midseason two parter, "The Return" early.
- NccWarp9, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9such a sweet mistake, only problem now is that the wait till the next episode is now 2 weeks ... or not if Apple releases it early :)
- wal9000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8DRM's more of a barrier to people who don't realize how easy it is to remove and that fair use gives them the right to use their media fairly. Nobody honestly believes that it stops piracy.
- tempusrob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8And so instead the average user says "But you can probably get it online somewhere" ...
- r81984, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Well we all know that with the RIAA there are no accidents and your guilty regardless if you knowingly shared files or not. Think the same torts will apply to the tv shows. SOOO I would expect apple to be sued for much more than $220,000.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8The issue was not the people who ordered it being upset and not getting credit. The issue is an episode available before it aired, thus costing the network potential ad revenue.
- jubilee123, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I'd like to see Rudy Giuliani's explanation
- Tenoq, on 10/10/2007, -6/+12I was going to agree with you... but then I struggled to think of anything better to watch. Care to elaborate?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Too bad you have no clue what you're talking about. 10 season of SG1, and Atlantis on its 4th. Seems like quite a few people find the show "worth watching"
We can't all be fans of manga. - macguy815, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Having the episode felt normal to me... SciFi takes a mid season hiatus, where as sky one shows the whole season consecutively- meaning torrents make their way from the UK with the mid season cliffhanger to the season finale, all way before they air in the US.
- macguy815, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5That was sarcasm.. incase some of you couldn't tell.
If you can see it, or if you can hear it, it can be "un-DRM'd"
Like in the leaked atlantis episode, the guy used a screen recorder to rip it. - PhoneJack, on 10/10/2007, -0/+59/11
- HonoredMule, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I say it's MGM's fault for supplying episodes with screwballed product numbers. Who wouldn't see prod# 401 and think, "Hey, that must be season four's first episode?"
- McHoffa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4except it wasn't shared by apple, it was sold, right?
- EdgarVerona, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I'm not sure if I should be admitting this here.
My wife loves Stargate and Stargate: Atlantis. She got me into it too, but mostly because it's something we can watch together. I mean, the show's pretty good for modern TV standards (I'd watch it over some Reality Show any day), but it's frequently pretty hokey. Anyways... she heard that some kind of "Complete Set" was coming out soon (how do they release something like that when the show's still on anyways?), and needless to say it's on her long queue of "things I must get for her." Such is the unspoken costs of marriage. ;)
Let the whip sounds commence. - jb55, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7http://www.torrentz.com/cb9c1eb5ef9e711f83e510b331 ...
- lengau, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4But it's not a huge explosion every 5 seconds, so the masses don't care. They forget, of course, that the whole city (not the sets, but when they show the whole city at once) is CGI.
- slippy4twenty, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4So shouldn't that be considered true piracy? They made money on it.
- hraza84, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3MONEY, it became too expensive to run the show for an 11th season. Money is the answer to everything in the television industry.
- HonoredMule, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3DRM just stops honest citizens from using their media in LEGAL manners, duping them into thinking that things they're doing aren't legal.
"This won't work. Oh, I guess I'm not allowed to do that. Ok, I'm a good law-abiding chump, who do I pay to [ stream music over my home network | put ringtones on my phone | supply me with a backup copy | let me keep hearing the music I already bought ]?"
The ones that realize suggested illegalities are ridiculous instead assume that the technology is to simple to handle their needs, that it just can't be done. Few ever think to blame the content producers for what they can't do with their content, so DRM is the ultimate cop-out. - Murdats, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4files using it have been released right?
its safe to assume that at most 2 weeks after a form of protection is released it has been broken - allyant, on 10/10/2007, -7/+9Lost is ***** now, the first 2 seasons were OK, should have ended it there.
- h4mx0r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Not with the direction season 9 and 10 were heading. Claudia Black = fail.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3The original movie was awesome, though...
- Konrad9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Because of the ER problem.
If you keep the same actors on for 10 years a show becomes impossibly expensive.
You have to kill off/get rid of characters as you go along, otherwise you just can't afford to pay them all. - shortarabguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah, like how they're rewarding early Zune adopters with firmware updates to make them on par with the new Zunes.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3No more crack for you.
- Sokkermick, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3This is old news, http://www.gateworld.net/news/2007/09/doppelganger ...
- anks329, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The complete set (releasing on Monday) is for Stargate SG-1, with 10 seasons, and 54 dvds. Stargate Atlantis is the show that is still on air, currently in season 4.
- macguy815, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2*Dr. Weir does a jazz square*
- Aanr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yea Me too. I guess a lot of people will get a "Double Header" next week. :)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It is not just a mistaken link. It is not like Apple has every show available already and just makes the links available as each episode is aired. Most shows are only shot about a month in advance anyway. So at most you could be 3-4 episodes ahead.
- Tenoq, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Tall poppy syndrome. Just check out the bad press MS gets. ;)
- AlxCds, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1money is the answer to everything in the world :)
- willij, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1It is on Sci-Fi. Stargate SG-1 is off the air. They are making two movies straight to dvd. Stargate Atlantis is the current show on now.
- darkenin13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1do you expect anything else from Apple employees
- mercano, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yes, but I'm not going to stop watching Atlantis just to spite SciFi for canceling SG1. They'd go and cancel Atlantis and, just to be evil, Doctor Who or something. (Or at least stop buying them from the BBC.)
