- DeathJux, on 06/20/2008, -12/+174What the ***** is fring?
- spwpi10, on 06/20/2008, -1/+35However in common ***** sense he got it wrong.
- franklymister, on 06/20/2008, -2/+33I think you "couldn't care less," actually.
If you could care less, that means that you at least care a little. - cawpin, on 06/20/2008, -0/+30It isn't an "American-British" difference. As spwpi10 said, it's common ***** sense.
- ResonantToe, on 06/20/2008, -5/+28Its this really new fring fror freople fro fran't frell froperly
- cl0n3x, on 06/20/2008, -8/+21According to Wikipedia, Fring is a "P2P peer-to-peer Mobile VoIP." Either way, I could care less.
- tippmann1, on 06/20/2008, -2/+13The instructions in the Book of Special Characters states:
"First shalt thou type out the Holy Shift and 1 Key Combination, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Exclamation Point of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it" - franklymister, on 06/20/2008, -5/+16How does a company that no one ever seems to have heard of end up with this many diggs all of a sudden? And a Digg algorithm-bumping spammy first comment, to boot...
- LiberalsSuckAss, on 06/20/2008, -5/+15Wow. This is so cool! Another "web 2.0" startup with a gay name that'll be forgotten as soon as this post scrolls off the front page!
- otis12, on 06/20/2008, -2/+11It is VOIP software that can be installed on the Iphone. However, Fring's application did not seem to work so well. Hopefully this will improve the functionality of Fring.
- Demens, on 06/20/2008, -0/+9Fring allows you to do calls and im over the internet connection, from your phone to almost any popular im-network. Like MSN, Skype, Gtalk.
And it works even over EDGE. Currently available for Symbian and WM-phones. - ianbirtwistle, on 06/20/2008, -0/+8It's fringing free!
- Kinnkster, on 06/20/2008, -3/+10It isn't actually useful for VOIP unless your willing to pay a sip provider every month. So it really doesn't turn out to be that useful unless you've got a skype account.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -1/+8Very useless and stupid boring comment. Thank you.
- shutaro, on 06/20/2008, -0/+6Oh come on... We've been over this before and everyone knows the science behind exclamation points... They operate on a base-10 logarithmic scale, like the Richter scale. So, using three exclamation points make your statement something like 30,000 times more emphatic than it would be of you used just one ((10^3)^(2/3)). The Book of Special Characters is just a piece of quaint mythology...
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -1/+6I love open APIs. Too bad I've never heard of the company.
- PurpleYonder, on 06/20/2008, -0/+5Fring is a free Skype+Gtalk+MSN+SIP client that lives in your mobile phone and is coming to iPhone near you soon. I personally have been using Fring with my Nokia phone for over a year now. Fring is great!
- orlyfactor, on 06/20/2008, -5/+10Not enough !'s in the title. Buried.
- kiensoy, on 06/20/2008, -0/+5I just dugg the story but it was already in the front page. I have heard about Fring before, actually I use Fring. I use it in my iPhone and I can use it to call my MSN and GTalk contacts for free through VOIP. I can't believe Adium or any other IM programs on the mac don't have voice support and yet Fring managed to create an application like this.
- Meursault, on 06/20/2008, -1/+5If only Daddy had lived to see the day...
- blonde20, on 06/20/2008, -0/+4Seriously you guys are so concerned with bashing that you don't know what's good for you.
fring is a great product that allows us the freedom to talk for free (mobile to pc or mobile to mobile) with our friends who are also on fring using the mobile device's wifi connection. Why don't you try it out and save yourselves some money instead of wasting your time bashing? - zeazzz, on 06/20/2008, -2/+6I thought Fring was a matchmaking service.
- houndeyex, on 06/20/2008, -3/+6This is the part where I leave a comment so I can find this later, but not actually Digg it and give it any support.
- ResonantToe, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3Played for and got...
Thumbs up :) - t-readyroc, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3Think Pidgin + Skype for your mobile. Plus it's free. & now it's opened its API. What's not to like?
- wingk1314, on 06/20/2008, -3/+6seriously, you guys shouldn't be so harsh on fring. I mean give these guys a break. If you don't know about it, go try it out before bashing it with comments like "boring.." and "who cares". Perhaps if you try it out, you might actually be one of the ones who do care. For me at least, it's a great app for what it does.
- akilleen, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3I have been using Fring on my Windows Mobile phone for a while now for IM purposes. It is pretty decent, and free. The thing that pisses me off about it is that it supports Google Talk, but not regular XMPP for my business's IM system. Maybe now someone will make one.
- damonic, on 06/20/2008, -2/+5"...to develop new applications called fring Add-ons for the fring community." All 3 of them.
- lazyleo, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3actually fring is good to use skype and other messengers on your iPhone i kinda like it a lot..shouldn't declare it a EPIC FAIL yet..
- Artz, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2God damn freaking haters on Digg are everywhere!
- iHack3r, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2Their blog post - http://www.fring.com/blog/?p=287/
- onicarps, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2fring rocks if you guys only get out of your shells
- poploserdigg, on 06/20/2008, -2/+3Total # of Members of Fring "Community" < Total # of Digg'ers getting laid this weekend without paying for it.
- shutaro, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2I thought Fring was that professor from the Simpsons... GLAVIN!
- tuxidomasx, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Maybe the poster DOES care a little bit. cl0n3x never indicated in the post that they didn't care.
- downat420, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2Not just on the iPhone. It works with Windows Mobile also.
p.s. Tilt > iPhone 2 for business use. Still no internet sharing. When will they learn. - SWiG, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2There used to be a restaurant in Denver called 'Round the Corner that served frings. It was essentially a basket of french fries and onion rings.
- Griminald, on 06/20/2008, -4/+5Doing the rest of the internet a favor and burying this.
- KezG, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Damn, you beat me to it... I was going to say the same thing.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2Can there actually be a negative number of people?
- downat420, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2not true, there are free SIP services if you look. Some are more limited than others.
- Kinnkster, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1If there are please link me. But when they say free on their front page it usually means you don't have to pay an extra fee.
- downat420, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2Why all the fring hating. I use it a few times a week on my Tilt, it is a great product. There are SIP services that offer free calls worldwide if you look, plus it supports skype. I guess it is better to hate a company or product solely because you have not heard of them.
"How could there be something I have never hear of!"
-douchbags above
The API is a great step for fring. - Lick, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2Wow. I like your humor. Penis.
- TheKorn2, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1No, that's f'ing.
- EvilKaz, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2Frings is a great little app i use on my Nokia N82, its a perfect for using as an IM with msn/yahoo/gmail. My mobile operator (O2 - UK) don't actually allow any IM software on their phones and their data plans forbid any usage other than "just browsing". This neat little app gets round that thankfully.
Been using it for over 6 months and i luv it.
As for VOIP through Skype/MSN/Gmail is ok if your in a full hsdpa area but u get a very noticeable delay if your just using 3G. - inactive, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2@donkevin some people also say irregardless.
- pyrates, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1It's the only application on the iphone that allows you to make skype calls, I say it will be around for a while. At least until skype releases their app. But only if skype doesn't limit their app to wifi only.
- Vicki86, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Sounds like a fun application!
way the go :) - speel, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1I'm no programmer or anything but is there a page one how to use api's and what not?
