- geoboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't like the idea of having a captcha at all for when it comes to posting comments. Luckily I am not a new user and I don't have to deal with it. But early one morning when I tried to post a comment I was getting an error telling me I had to enter a captcha so I could post my comment when there WAS no captcha to even enter! It was one hell of an annoying bug and there was nothing I could do about it besides send a bug report and forget about posting any comments for a while.
Captchas are also very descriminating towards users with disabilities (namely blind people who rely on screen readers). I think a much better way to stop the comment spam would be to allow one user to post no more than five comments in a row for a single digg story. After a user posts 4 comments directly in a row for one story they would get a message giving them fair warning. It easily would've stopped the koolaidguy spammer who made THOUSANDS of comments IN A ROW through a script.
Also, about this digg cloud thing... it seems like there are only 4 different font sizes. I thought there would be more variation. - bobbyj1049, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wat do you consider "an active contributor"?
- NoOneButMe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sounds good - though i'd like to see an Edit feature for comments - the main reason that i post more then once in a row is because i forgot to add a link or wanted to add something to the comment.
- gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey dont forget the "problem?" box is now blue and not green
- ba747heavy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome stuff.
- Ostermayer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome features
- LordHalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0who's responsible for the nomenclature? just want to know folks
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the captcha system is really buggy... often times no image appears and I can't get it right because of ambigious capitalization of text. this needs to be fixed, or newcomers aren't going to be able to post at all :(
- jobeats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ godmode
it does show up
http://digg.com/search?search=Hot+Chicks+with+Network+Equipment&submit=Search&area=all&type=both&age=all&search-buried=on - odysseus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What does the number next to people's names signify?
For example:
AdamCo (2)
Rounin (3)
This is not explained in the FAQ. Am guessing it's the number of stories submitted by that user that made it to the home page? - timjbart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg just gets better and better
- Dabellah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey! The problem button for stories is blue now instead of green! Where's that feature?!
- anorris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like the report box being blue, it matches the rest of the site much better... I never cared for its green color.
- LtJimDangle2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@odysseus : yep
- godmode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://digg.com/hardware/Hot_Chicks_with....Network_Equipment
that story still refuses to show up in search >_ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@gamer31
Yes i did notice that but i assumed i was slow. - Ruiner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll dig so Kevin and Alex can promote with a clear conscious:) or Karma:) Earl
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe you should Chill out?
Anyways. I was wondering if anyone has had to enter in a "captcha" yet. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice to see the changes :)
- stokestack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They didn't mention the weird unspecified limit on how rapidly you can post comments. If you post a couple too quickly, it rejects your comment and tells you to "chill out." LAME.
- TommyVallier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I had to enter one to post this comment.
it was ufythcn - brucebeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yay, finally! less comment spam!
- fionna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Digg Cloud! Nice Work!
- BlueBlade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just like the "Check Spelling" button right below it. Now only if they could check grammar...
- Chris_F, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1But can it run linux?
- nuxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice work guys! keep the evolution coming!
- Judman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@redalert
digg cloud is in the search for diggs. There is a tab at the top - WALZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awsome! I love the Digg Cloud, the search for buried stories is always good, and you can't got wrong with Anti-Spam :-)
- Rounin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@jamiejamez
Agreed. They need to keep this thing accessible. - vicd28, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice changes.
- jamiejamez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I haven't seen the Captcha yet, but I hope it has an audio link for our visually challenged viewers
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no it hasnt
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Your captcha is too difficult. I have to go through about eight of them before I get one right. The problem seems to be in upper case vs lower case letters. That, and the "n" and "u" rotated look the same.
- TheTraveller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice changes, yes.
But two things:
1. this should be automatically submitted to digg news (category which has just one entry in the past 100+ days. Makes it look as if nothing "new" happens here, but the opposite is true)
2. the digg blog is where official digg news are posted, right? It mustn't be some hidden thing that you have to bookmark - add it to the about digg page, that's where a link to the blog should be. - JoshuaH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0New Anti-Spam in Action
http://digg.com/links/Why_I_should_get_a_dial-up_connection - dvdavid888, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i just wanted to say i ***** love digg digg rules!!!!
- AdamCo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like the digg cloud page
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0here what happens if you post too fast:

take that koolaidguy! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if it asks me to chill
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i wanna see
- DrinkPaint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've never liked clouds
- scorwitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NICE, now if only you would allow us to access them!! I can't find the word 'clouds' anywhere??? I'm thinking next time you MIGHT want to provide a link.
- bat-21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Correct link for DiggCloud:
http://digg.com/diggall/cloud - toekneebullard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I truly hate the "You post to fast" function. I've always hated forums and such that use that. Using tabed browsing, and reading and typing quickly, it's nort hard to come up with responses faster than the anti-spam thing lets you. Lame. No digg.
- bat-21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There should be a link for DiggCloud (http://digg.com/diggall/cloud) on the front page. It's less frantic than DiggSpy.
- nature, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Please add anti-diggs so people can mod down most of the garbage that gets posted here.
- crispytown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't like the cloud feature. It seems to junkie. granted there is tons of info there, but it first look... it makes me think of that junk yard down the road.
- IceDog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's nice to see great new features being added still yet. Getting complacent isn't good for any product service or whathaveya.
- treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BLUE PROBLEM BOX!!
Woohooooo! - greenlight2001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DiggCloud is frickin' sweet!
