You mean, like a YouTube for HD content? - DisembarkedOne, on 10/12/2007, -7/+50no flash player / in browser viewing = not great success
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+46This could be a great thing if used correctly (illegal content)
- chedabob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32Is that necessarily a bad thing?
- m1th, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Azureus 3.0? Am I missing something here?
- iammatt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21Now all it needs is a nice GUI, Holy Crap!
- neoform, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Bad? No.. but where's the interesting part of this story? This is just another Torrent tracker.. I was given the impression from the headline that this was something new or innovative..
- Fatalis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19I'm gonna get dug down, but I think your girlfriend would appreciate µTorrent more.
- bergur1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I tried democracy and the speeds were horrible for most of the videos I tried
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I don't understand something.
Some if not most of the shows (including HD content) were already available to download via torrent and otherwise before Zudeo came around. Secondly the article claims that Zudeo offers gigabytes of storage space, when in fact you yourself offer gigabytes of your own storage space to share your own media. You upload the torrent file to the site, and seed the file from your own computer. And finally Zudeo is compared to YouTube however the main difference with YouTube and BitTorent is that YouTube allows me to view files in a flash based web browser environment without having to download. BitTorrent however is the opposite and requires me to download the file in order to view it.
Maybe I'm crazy... - doubledoh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I'm not sure if the files themselves are hosted with Zudeo, but if they aren't...this will be an incredible way for people to share all types of videos very very easily...legally and not so legally. Not that it's very difficult as is...but it would be great to have all the good video torrents in one spot.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Azureus 3.0 still requires JRE.
- j3one, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8All they need is low res streaming like youtube, coupled with the hi-rez bit torrent
- Fatalis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I *really* hope it's not Java.
- ISUBMITMYSTUFF, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Dude, you HAVE to see this clip I checked yesterday on Zudeo. Here it is, man check this out... Oh, wait a sec, just getting the video to download. Yeah, it's slow, only have like 3 seeds. What, your lunch hour is finished...? Ok dude, no trouble, just come back in (checks monitor) 5 hours. Man totally worth it!
In short : no this is not like Youtube in any way. Not until you can check a video 10 seconds after you click play. - refux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The genius of YouTube is the immediate gratification, you click on a movie, it starts playing. Email a link to a friend, he clicks on a link, it starts playing.. its that simple.
Zudeo is not. - Jake2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Report on Zudeo:
Downloaded 'A San Francisco Minute'. Took much longer than a minute, unfortunately, with an average speed of about 50-100kB/s. Not bad for your average torrent, but alas not the promised 'blazing speeds' I was hoping for. Maybe this will be cleared up in the near future.
Interface is very, VERY nice. It's fast, pretty and best of all not buggy at all (so far).
Anyway, I downloaded the movie in about five minutes, played it in QuickTime and it turned out to be a nice, round figure of 1280x720 resolution. Good quality picture too.
To conclude my extremely short report, I have high hopes for Zudeo. :) - 2L84ME, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6In Beta at the moment.

(I couldn't find a link in there though, so I'm as confused as you are, but pleased to add seemingly *nothing* to this topic.) - stephenv, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7It's Azureus with some crazy Zudeo interface built in. Dunno, I'm kinda keen on it since I thought AZ was kinda java blah looking before.
I might install this on my GF's computer now since she was hella confused with Azureus 2.x and this might make things much easier to understand. - MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Does Azureus 3.0 still take 75 megs of RAM to run like it used to? This site's definitely not going to trick me into leaving uTorrent for the super-bloated Azureus+JRE.
- wolfzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Uh...I'm kinda worried this is the end of progress on the Azureus core. And can I get rid of the 'hot' content on the right?
- compressedaudio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was expecting streams.
- itsmattadams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://stage6.divx.com/ has high quality videos too
- kalmi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Your BT client gets the IPs of the computers that have the requested file from a tracker.
- kodt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So more or less this just provides an easy way to post video torrents / search / download torrents?
If there are no more seeders as happens often on old torrents will the video just be unavailable? - trylleklovn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Now ready for Linux images usage .. err.. linux video captures.. ermh.. something with penguins!
- jerbaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Maybe I'm crazy"
I would say so. I'm curious how you imagine you are able to view a video without actually downloading it. I think you meant that YouTube streams it and Zudeo does not. - LeeVal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I do not like Azureus 3.0, its too bloated
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I sure hope this doesn't require Azureus, since it is a total RAM hog. Thank god I can now run uTorrent on my MacBook!
- ISUBMITMYSTUFF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You sure go there a lot. (Referring to your OTHER comment, made 4 minutes before that one...)
- shoeberto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3As has been previously mentioned, Democracy Player is much better. They've been hard at work on it for years to make everything work and be as user-friendly as possible. If you haven't checked it out, I really recommend it.
- badlyspawnedboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3and still hogs system resources like no tomorrow.
as you can judge from my userpic - utorrent ftw - logomancer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OK....I ask a perfectly reasonable question, I get dugg down. Someone else criticizes it for being a Democracy clone in the next post, he is not affected.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? - stephenv, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Heh, µTorrent is actually what's currently installed :)
- nanopod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where is the torrents? I don't want to use Azureus, I want use uTorrent, but it seems as they are trying to force me to use Azureus to be able to download.
- uberneoconcert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2hey i just went to wikipedia to figure out what a torrent tracker is but even the summary is too technical. maybe someone here will add to that article. thanks.
- uberneoconcert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haha sorry i didn't wear my helmet today
- jaydj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Agreed. This has to be in their game plan. Get people to start sharing high-def. Create low-def flv clips for quick viewing. Get purchased by Google. Retire.
- osc1882, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Azureus is by far my fav BT program. So I really hope they don't F this up and get in legal trouble and have Azureus go down with it.
- dbug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Probably.
- bergur1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Good. Now I can actually view something that looks good. Thank you Azureus
- Dorkbot101, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1'bloated' is completely relative term, compared to something like uTorrent.
- leomyhero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1am I the only one having trouble getting this to work? when I download the torrent file, it's NOT a valid filetype.
- xnike2livx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hopefully the programs theme song will be done by Phil Collins. Because I know I would definitely use it if it went, Zu...Zu...ZUDEO!
- cyberbeing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its nice to see that the Azureus Director Edition beta which lanched in September finally went public.
@havocwon The gigabytes of storage part is because everything gets seeded by Azureus's servers. - Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Do I have to use Azureus with this site? If so, then I'm not even going to bother with it.
- SpookyET, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Azureus is dead to me. Now, it is just another Democracy Player.
Alienating your users to push a video shop is stupid.
Azureus' old interface sucked. But the new interface is horrible.
I expect a fork soon. - KingLeo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that's cool... I wish they had a low-res version of the video for in-browser viewing before downloading a video I know very little about and then finding out it's crap.
- pegothejerk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5The video I just downloaded ("Loud and Clear" music video, 20 megs) would have had a conversation more like this: Dude, there's a pretty cool music vid on this new software, let me download it. Go get me a beer from the fridge, and make sure you open that bitch. .. Cool, thanks, it's done downloading. Check this out.
took no time at all. -
