Zivity Founder Bares All To Promote Her Startup
techcrunch.com — Zivity is definitely one of the most controversial startups of 2007. It ’s the first (as far as we know) adult site to have received Silicon Valley backing, including an announced $1 million angel round. And they certainly livened things up at the TechCrunch40 conference a few months ago. More..

- mojaam, on 12/30/2007, -2/+2Zivity's CEO Cyan Banister http://www.digatechgirl.com/images/img_93.jpg got 25 votes behind the #1 model Pearl http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=533458792& ... with 117 votes. I can see how that's justified. Anyways, how on earth is this business model going to last long with thousands of free models/photographer networking sites and flickr and the rest of the free stuff (yeh porn) on the internet? Only celebrities might be able to make this work.
- aflury, on 12/31/2007, -0/+1Minor correction: Cyan is a co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer. Jeffrey Wescott is their CEO and another co-founder. http://zivity.com/about
BTW, there was a recent interview with both Cyan and Jeffrey on Tech Now, which I think was pretty well-done. It's available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tAgKXvkqLo

- takeitez, on 12/30/2007, -1/+1Models and photographers will stick around for the money and make it a more fun place for users than free adult sites.
- dognose, on 12/30/2007, -0/+2I hope it opens soon.
- hjw3001, on 12/31/2007, -0/+0Glad to see Zivity getting more press, can't wait for the site to go live!
- aflury, on 12/31/2007, -1/+3What bothers me about some comments here and on the techcrunch site is the constant comparison between Zivity and porn sites. From what I've seen so far, Zivity is about tasteful and artistic content, as well as giving fair revenue to the models and photographers. The fact that Cyan would model is just more evidence -- it certainly doesn't seem like a promotional gimmick to me, but rather a testament to her goal of creating an adult-oriented social network without the smut. I wish them the best of luck in accomplishing that ambitious feat.
- sajnikanth, on 12/31/2007, -1/+2One of the job requirements @ Zivity - Enthusiasm for an entrepreneurial startup environment and a high tolerance for pictures of nude women a must.
- djdto, on 12/31/2007, -1/+0Can't wait for it to go live.
- smacksaw, on 12/31/2007, -0/+1It's interesting how people will say that no one pays for porn, but insists people will pay for MP3s and movies.
Obviously, there's something wrong here. If the Zivity founders believe there is money to be made, perhaps people do buy porn. Maybe the MPAA/RIAA are wrong. Maybe they're right and people don't pay for this crap. It's just interesting because on Digg you hear people saying constantly that paying for downloadable content is viable and the MPAA/RIAA are just being paranoid...and then no one buys porn?
Let's see... - veedubmonkey, on 12/31/2007, -0/+0I think Zivity is going to change the way people will view ladies on the internet. I wish them the best of luck.
- ineedaname, on 12/31/2007, -0/+1This is certainly worth a digg. :)
- Member148, on 12/31/2007, -0/+1Reminds me of one of those dreams where you go to work without adequate clothing.
- Martild, on 12/31/2007, -0/+0Looks, hot! Can't wait to "pull the covers back." I'm wondering who determines how hardcore the site becomes.
- HLynnC, on 12/31/2007, -0/+0I love this company- sexy and woman positive, that's a very hot combination!
- rjsmom13, on 01/02/2008, -0/+0I love this site! As a woman it is nice to see a website that cherishes women and their bodies in a tasteful and classy way! I enjoyed voting for my favorites and look forward to the launch of the site when there will be more competition! Still wondering where the men are though!! I loved Zivity! Look out American Idol!!
- enthal, on 01/04/2008, -0/+0Oh the waiting. And yes, this succeeds only as contextualized social networking: sexy images are around wherever.
- diggsite, on 01/04/2008, -0/+0You'll be able to get in soon!
- prajnacole, on 01/05/2008, -0/+0I'm thrilled to see women being powerful, and having the spot to do so in sexpositive ways. Go Team! I'm eagerly anticipating the opening.
- tastynuggets, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0I think the VCs who funded this need to go back to bschool. Going into the subscription porn business at a time when there are thousands of beautiful porn 2.0 sites out there (youporn, pornzala, redtube, pornhub...) is akin to going into the music CD business...
