- statik99, on 11/03/2009, -2/+53Dear Yahoo,
Less is more... please no more clutter. My browser can't take it.
Signed,
A google user. - cx0der, on 05/27/2009, -0/+19During the days of dial-up connection, I switched to google, just because google pages would load sooner than yahoo.
Please yahoo you don't have to stress test the browser with your home page. - itsfunny, on 05/27/2009, -0/+16How about a nice 404 page? That would make me happy.
- fleischkopf, on 05/28/2009, -0/+13Needs more ***** on it.
- fluidfoundation, on 05/28/2009, -1/+11the only way it's going to make Yahoo more relevant is if somewhere hidden in the javascript there's a wayback machine that sets the clock back to 1998.
- Thorpe, on 05/28/2009, -2/+11Yahoo! is so 1999 for me.
- UMDWei, on 05/28/2009, -0/+9iGoogle is my homepage. Why? Cause what's important to me is dictated by my personal preference, not by sponsoring ads or some large ad-whoring co. Sadly, no amount of redesign dollars will ever get that.
- GoKings, on 05/27/2009, -1/+10It seems like the CEO runs the operation like Christopher Walken ran the Blue Oyster Cult...
"Sir, we have a lot of clutter and we need to fix the..."
"You know... I think we need more clutter."
"No sir, you don't understand... We're trying to REDUC"
"WE NEED MORE CLUTTER!"
"Uh... ok... Well here I'll just throw a bunch of ***** on here...?"
"That was brilliant man! The page needs more clutter!" - redwallhp, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8search.yahoo.com
- krisrm, on 05/28/2009, -1/+8No, I don't think Yahoo would understand that level of subtlety. You must speak directly to the offenders who designed this travesty, in their *own* language:
Dear Yahoo,
WANT TO ENLARGE YOUR PENIS FOR FREE?!
WOULD YOU LIKE SOME MORE ADVERTISEMENTS?!
HOW ARE YOUR SHARES DOING NOW?!
Signed,
ANYONE THAT JUST WANTS TO CONDUCT A FRICKIN WEB SEARCH!
Please... make it stop :( - rossnyc, on 05/27/2009, -0/+6Will AOL copy this one too?
- Zippo, on 05/27/2009, -1/+7Yahoo should just put up a giant FOR SALE sign on their front page... once a web giant, I don't doubt Yahoo will cease to exist as a separate entity (if at all) for much longer.
- kdmkdmkdm, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6A google user.
- ashkan101, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5Or you could set it as your homepage, that would save you 3 clicks.
- Wreckage, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5Signed.
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5They do own Flickr.
- tzhu07, on 05/28/2009, -0/+4The most savvy Internet users have long realized that Yahoo! is like Wal-Mart in that it does a little bit of everything, but excels at nothing. Kind of like a person who's a jack of all trades, but a master of none.
For every section of Yahoo that is linked on the front page, I can give you at least 3 alternative and better websites for the subject. - poprocksandsoda, on 05/28/2009, -0/+4How about a page dedicated to the 25 dollar difference between what MS offered for their disfunctional company versus what it goes for per share today?
- IcedKasz, on 05/28/2009, -0/+3Does nobody else see this as an improvement? Large obvious buttons on the left. Search box on the top. Logo on the top left (the "click here for home" button). The center is their own Flair section, i.e. "Crap I don't need to read unless I'm bored".
Yes there's clutter, but at least it's kept away from the navigation border. - MarkusDee, on 05/28/2009, -0/+3Porn, then fantasy sports.
- Flamekebab, on 05/28/2009, -1/+4I doubt they'll be able to find the toggle switch marked "Make our company better".
I really wish Yahoo would go away, I've not found anything they can do well. Could someone name something other than Flickr?
(I don't like Flickr, mainly due to the bandwidth and storage limits) - fluidfoundation, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2And Flickr does a head slap every time they think about that, too.
- MarkusDee, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2They should make yahoo fantasy sports their homepage. That would save me an extra two clicks.
- pearllog, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2Wow ! ...

- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2Yahoo Pipes, but it is a bit nerdy. http://pipes.yahoo.com
- gordigor, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2Well if Yahoo's homepage had more cowbells, I might just use it.
- ArtLovour, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2eh
i like the whole layout idea but...its a bit crowded - doraemonxo, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2people still use yahoo? wow.
- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Dear Yahoo,
Do us a favor by redirecting your www.yahoo.com domain to www.microsoft.com. That way, we'd really know your true colors and that you're one of us (our global imperialist hegemonic anti-trust monopoly).
Yours truly,
Microsoft

- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1and Google is so 1998?
- mziegler, on 05/28/2009, -2/+3What's different?
Looks like the same bunch of crap. - Chirp08, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1I'm tellin' you, you're gonna want that clutter.
- brundlefly76, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1This is a common misconception of internet users who know nothing about business.
Yahoo! been operating at a profit every year since they went public, and is the #2 trafficked site on the internet. Yes, that makes it a web giant, sorry to say.
What people really want to say is that Yahoo! is no longer a *growth* company, which is fair to say. That doesn't mean that it is not a web giant or an income property.
Sometimes people forget that companies like Digg, Facebook, and Twitter still have not reached profitability after 3-7 years of massive *user* growth. Now *these* are companies which should be hanging a 'For Sale' sign.
Zuckerberg has publicly stated that he does not expect Facebook to be profitable until 2011 (!)
That's SEVEN YEARS (HALF of Yahoo!'s existence) of burning investor capital without a penny of profit!
Similarly, Twitter is not profitable after 3 years of operating on about $150M on investor capital - but unlike Facebook, I see absolutely no effort at monetization of that property, except the forthcoming 'Premium Paid Twitter' accounts (sorry hard to type that without laughing).
Then there is Digg itself, after blowing several profitable buyout offers over its 5 years of operation, its still operating at a loss, running on $100M or so of investor capital. On December 8th, Adelson said Digg was no longer for sale and they they were going to start on a plan to monetize the site immediately. 6 months later....? ? ? ? - rossnyc, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1Agreed. This redesign looks pretty nice. Yahoo is not Google. Sure they're both known for searching but Yahoo is more than that. They're more of an "internet magazine". Of course they're going to have more ***** on their homepage linking to parts of their "magazine".
- tj_walker, on 05/28/2009, -2/+2This is top news? Really?
"Our top story tonight, TJ Chinaski Farted."
= : )K - sippykup, on 05/28/2009, -1/+1News, Finance, and search engine marketing.
SEM is a big one. We pay 1/3 as much per click on Yahoo as we do on google, and get 3x more impressions on Yahoo. It's a bargain, largely because the competition is too brain-dead to look beyond google. - yurimxpxman, on 05/28/2009, -5/+2Dear Yahoo,
Rot in hell. We don't want your "services," and we would like you to completely disappear so we don't have to deal with stupid people who bother to try your "services."
Thanks,
EVERYONE - inactive, on 05/27/2009, -16/+1I made up a mock of How i think it should look.
Take google's simplicity but with some of yahoo's entertainment and weekly web content and mix.
