- vermin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What's with all the Yahoo bashing? They have lots of good services and they contribute ALOT to open source. Goggle fanboy-ism is getting way too rampant.

Amen. - dasgof, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Paul Graham sold out to yahoo back in the day... and there is no shame in pushing your product to the next level with a powerhouse like yahoo.
- sizemoresr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Waxy is going to Yahoo.
- mcewen98, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Man what a sellout, I've never seen such ass kissing to a company that sucks so bad like yahoo does."
And I'm sure you wouldn't have accepted a large sum of money from yahoo? I think anyone would. I've often thought that this was the business model of many trendy, 'thing of the moment' websites, including *cough digg cough*. 1) Think of some unique service that does not yet exist, 2) make it easy to use and free to build a large enough user base to be noticed by a larger company, 3) profit.
In my opinion there's nothing wrong with that. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pretty cool. Five years ago who would've thought search engines would be buying companies to integrate into their homepages...
But now... Yahoo! and Google buy companies like it's nothing. - a99tandem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Google is pure 100% concentrated evil. Seriously.. would you put your faith in a company who actually stated that their goal is to have ALL the world's information in one place?? On that note- my Google Talk keeps disconnecting. Apparently they fell short on the knowledge of how to write a decent piece of software.
(Hypocrisy is one of the great privileges of being American!)
Yahoo! is a 1/2 decent company.. Of course its easy to say that when their stock gains have paid for 2 semesters of college. (Thank you yr 2002 for your weak stock market!) - mr.hostility, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is definately digg worthy... *roll eyes*
Why is this posted? Now we can brag about our accomplishments on digg!
My nephew pooped in the toilet, please tell all your friends to digg this!!!! - FRAGaLOT, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1And we should care because....?
- ArtVandelay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What an amusing set of comments.

You're in the money
You're in the money
Ohhh you've go so much money. - search, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You own UpComing.org? COOL!!! I use that for another website of mine. I was actually developing the idea myself until I came across your site. It does most of the stuff I was thinking about. Now its part of Yahoo?
!!!
Cool. I hope you get to talk to the Konfabulator guys and make a really cool interactive widget for the site on your desktop. - bash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0only beef i have with yahoo is their cluttered interface. google is much cleaner (and search.yahoo.com's ads still enroach the page too much, google is much easier to ignore).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I like google better, but yahoo is getting on everyone's good side and doing something great by paying attention to cool new uses of tech., and it will be interesting to see how they integrate it into their site. Yahoo would be a good search alternative to google if they had you on their site already, looking up your flikr photos, checking your upcoming calendar and such... it would just be convenient
Also, even though I like google beter, I am really happy to see competition for them. We don't want any monopolies, no matter how "cool" they are. - dalen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1how is that site useful? i think it sucks.
- dasgof, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0google search is better than yahoo search, but yahoo search is not all of yahoo. they remain #1 in alexa for reasons other than search.
- johnxstone, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3The Yahoo family... Where all the step children are anally raped.
- wynnwill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0but that being said, congratulations. it does look like Yahoo is doing a lot of right things right now, and upcoming.org is a cool site.
- wynnwill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0there are lots of reasons to dislike yahoo. it is annoying to deal with their domain names, they screwed up Flickr, and their email is pretty lousy. the spam filter is bad and marks real messages as trash. also, they try to make you pay for basic services like email forwarding.
- benspicer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Dude, congrats. I've been a long time reader of both yours and Leonards blogs, and I've watched upcoming.org grow. This is a definetly the right to step to take, for both you and the company, taking it 24-7.
Best of luck!
And to all of the peopel that rude and stupid comments: jealousy will get you no-where. - doofus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Yahoo is like Fox. Going around buying up crap sites that nobody uses let alone have ever heard of.
- asuh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I'm a friend and coworker of the owner of upcoming.org. Pass it on to your friends to digg the story!
- jmccorm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0The Yahoo!.... family? Seems a little disfunctional.
- Billistic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Man what a sellout, I've never seen such ass kissing to a company that sucks so bad like yahoo does.
- Rsulliv1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I guess it's good to get some acknowledgment from a conglomerate, but wouldn't your integrity get in the way? btw, yahoo will always be second fiddle to everyone else.
Can anyone else think of a second rate company that produces little to nothing in-house and only buys up cheap products to relabel?
I'll assume you got a huge check out of this. Congrats on that. - colosus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Never thought I'd see someone say they were "proud" to be a part of Yahoo.
- goat2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0wtf is upcoming.org
