- gthiruva, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38You don't call Al Gore for clogged tubes. Call Ted Stevens!
- neo164, on 10/12/2007, -5/+36Our Pipes are clogged! We've called the plumbers!
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Call Mario and Luigi QUICK!!
- LordSpam, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28And how long before they go getting clogged? This ain't a flatbed truck that you can just load up. I mean I sent an Internet just this morning and my office STILL hasn't received it!
- hochmann, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22Silly Yahoo! It should be called TUBES, not PIPES. Oh well...
Yeah, the site is up and down, sometimes refusing, sometimes responding but generating "system errors" in Javascript, etc. I played with it last night before it got slammed, though, and it is neat. - Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23Calm down - the plumbers are on their way.
- pmcall221, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21The pipes/tubes are clogged... Call Senator Stevens
- 0siris, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22From pipes.yahoo.com:
"Our Pipes are clogged! We've called the plumbers!"
verbatim...
- aakins, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17I bet Google's Tubes wouldn't get clogged so easily. : )

Slantt is my 0.1 mashup. Its surfaces links related to Digg top stories from Del.icio.us and Technorati by doing a bunch of API and page scraping work. Its just one way to add more context and find out more about things your come across on Digg - basically aggregates, filters (no duplicates), and prioritizes (popularity) tag & blog searches. Enjoy, and feed back is appreicated.
Digg this down as spam if you want to, but note that there are no ads on slantt, and I've put this together on a volunteer basis because I find it to be useful and hope others will to. - shamitpatel, on 10/12/2007, -9/+18HAHAhAhAHAHAhAhA
"Our Pipes are clogged! We've called the plumbers!"
Yahoo is down!!!!! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Check this out
http://www.helpero.com/news/Internet/Browsers/Pipes-a-great-new-product-from-Yahoo_254.html - leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9How does this affect my personal Internets?
- banderbe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I'd like Yahoo! a lot more if they weren't called Yahoo!
- nsharp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Wow, digg effect even seems to have killed Yahoo!
Coral has something here:
http://pipes.yahoo.com.nyud.net:8080 - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Yeah, on gmail. Happens all the time.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You. Yes you. You were trying to think of another pipe joke, weren't you?
- mattcampbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4http://m4.pipes.re3.yahoo.com/
- mattgs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I hope they don't use the same plumber I use.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5
How does this affect my personal Internets?
You will have to double flush. - blackjack75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Oh Lord, this is going to get famous in France... (where 'pipe' is the slang word for blowjob).
- cbags, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Down goes frasier!!!!
- tutorbell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The clogged series of tubes is keeping us from getting to the pipes.
- marcamillion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4which brings us to the argument that was happening some time back on another thread about what causes the digg effect. As we can see here, I doubt it is the amount of bandwidth accessible at the hosts end. For some reason, I don't get the impression that Yahoo! would have a bandwidth issue.
The digg effect, I think, is when the web server gets a flood of requests at the exact same time. Controlling such an effect comes down to load distribution, NOT throwing more "pipes" at it, as we can see here. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5you will find an answer here
http://www.helpero.com/news/Internet/Browsers/Pipes-a-great-new-product-from-Yahoo_254.html - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Do you think yahoo hosts its site on some cheap ass webhost ?
- raid517, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm not kidding - although I think a lot of people just don't get it yet - but I think .rss is the future of the Web and that services like this serve only to demonstrate this.
Due to .rss I didn't need to wait for Google TV - I already have my own (Google and others) IPTV channels up and running now.
RSS is where the web is going next - it again is an example of the Web 2.0, or 'the web your way' type philosophy - so that everything on the internet can become personalised to reflect the way you want to see things and the way you want your web experience to be.
It is still in it's early stages however - and I hope subsquent versions of .rss will allow for even more user configurability - but we are almost certainly at the start of a wave, that one day will change the way we do everything. - incubus13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Great, thanks ;)
Sounds interesting, btw... - pmcall221, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Ever wanted to find an apartment close to a park, a school or wholefoods? Now you can..."
Sounds good. It is a huge coincidence that just now I was looking for a new apartment cross country and wanted to know if it was near any grocery stores. - CheapDigWannbe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6With current patent system I think Nintendo could sue Yahoo and win for reference to Mario and Pipes.
- Aeiri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Who is this 'guy with the dump truck'?
- Rodzirra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3OS X's Automator ( http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/automator/ ) is also based on Unix Pipes... That's why the li'l robot dude in the icon is carrying a pipe.
- GeneralBison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm waiting for Yahoo! Dumptruck
- gregdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Unfortunately, tubes != ||, so most of these jokes aren't hitting home with the geeks.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I bet Google's Tubes wouldn't get clogged so easily. : )"
Not with all that dark fiber they own =D - gregdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh yeah? Well I KNOW it is might be are not useful of for to practicall stuff!
- Diggingspoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Because digg is bigger than Yahoo?
- widoka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you know that doesn't belong here....but it WAS more interesting than the clogged pipes.
- incubus13, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hmm looks I'm late. What is this Yahoo! pipes all bout?
- JakePM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1who took the big dump and clogged it all up?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Guys...I think we've just killed Yahoo!
- Trini2daBone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice find. it has everything up and running. that is everything but making new one.
- JakePM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i hope it doesn't turn into geocities!!!!! argh!!!!!
- JakePM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1are you kidding me? How did they let this out and now it's down. that's absurd. AB SURD!
- celeb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Definitely an awesome idea but I agree with the guy who said he would like Yahoo much better if it had a different name...
They should break out all of their other cool technology (like this which requires a bit of understanding) under a sister (more techie) company - llnk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Was anyone else hoping to see that old Pipes computer game? I know I was: http://www.nearlygood.com/game/plumbertwo.html
