- _Caboose_, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I just searched "***** you bush administration" on Yahoo. That's one piece of search data I wouldn't mind them seeing.
- SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2first they turned that guy over to the chinese, now this. Yahoo must love supporting the cause of police states worldwide.
- TheSenator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If they wanted to fight against children from being exposed to porn on the internet, filtering software could have been more effective against blocking it if there was a .xxx domain for porn, which the Bush administration fought also.... It's a Lose/Lose situation.
- Rndm_Tngnt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, the Anti-Fun League got several million search terms with no real way of organizing the data and absolutely no identification? Sounds like a non-issue.
What you ought to be up in arms about is the Bush administration's War on Sex. - wthulhu, on 08/29/2009, -0/+2Not that I ever used yahoo, but you can rest assured I never will.
- konspence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Here's a big thank you to Google for fighting the administration and not being a coward!
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1never going to yahoo anymore.... no more yahoo at all... everything just un-installed and wont go with any affilated yahoo company anymore...
- SpazticChips, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they didnt supeona, I dunno if you know that, because they did it through the legislative branch, not judicial. None of them had to give it to them, good for google for not giving in to something they don't have to. They clearly state on their site that it has to be through legal process AKA the judicial branch, Yahoo is stupid as hell.
- gheide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1damn... I was so trying to help my girlfriend out by searching for "remove bush"... but now it's in the government data...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They will NEVER stop porn. They don't have the power, and they never will. :-)
Why they worry about what consenting adults do with their own bodies I'll never understand, as they act like we are their property, even though our taxes support those lazy ass ***** known as the u.s, government. - striker1211, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"OK BUT how can you blame yahoo for this. Its not like they had a choice. If it were google they would give the data as well. they are all businesses that dont want trouble. ok?"
"I hate to burst some bubbles here, but Google would hand it over too."
Umm... someone missed the Clue Clue Train - Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I don't even use Yahoo... but that ensured I never will
Tell your friends folks - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I hate the bush admin!!! The supreme court of all places deemed online porn freedom of speech and the bush administration is trying to fight something the Supreme Court. If there is a anti Christ the bush administration surely is it
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what a bunch of pussies!
Go google!!! - elrawtic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Glad I do not have anything to do with Yahoo!
And more on an off topic note.....
I wish more companies were like Google and would stand up to this monster of an administration.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a revolution against the US government if this sort of governing continues.
Spying on American citizens, going to war based on faulty information and subpoenaing search engine companies for their user's submitted data seems way too big brother for me. - tjw12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's the end of Yahoo as a search engine for me!
- Latentk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1PEOPLE WHO DO NOT VOTE, DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPEAK THEIR OPINIONS REGARDING POLITICS.
That is that. You were the dumbasses who stood by and let the real Americans do the work for your lazy liberal asses. Get up off your ass you damn hippies, and do your own voting for once.
Everything that happened after Bush was VOTED into office was immediately blamed on the man, not the many others voted into office who are the real people making the decisions. Newsflash people, Bush, and his administration are very often NOT the people writing these plans.
I know from experience, speaking with Republicans and Communists, that the majority, not all, just a heavy majority, of Liberals out there A) Cant Vote B) Dont Vote and think they have the right to bitch or C) Are ignorant immature kids who know nothing of the inner workings of our government and do nothing but destroy anything resembling facts and truths with their pointless, fictional, propoganda, media perpetuated lies.
The people above to supported Bush, read their words, they hold more truth then any one line of Bush insulting posts above.
PS- Republicans hold the major offices, and Democrats control the media. Things we see, and things that actually happen rarely align. - Aquinas315, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't get the big deal over minorities viewing pornography. I know that a lot of the people in my school have had sex and they're not even 16 yet. So what are they supposed to do? Screw with their eyes closed? Honestly. If you've got people that are doing things like that physically but aren't allowed to go on the internet and look at it, there's some sort of incompatability somewhere.
- massness, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I never use Yahoo and this just makes sure I absolutely never will. Go Google!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice job, Yahoo! Sure your PR department didn't haev a hand in this? LOL
- Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, Yahoo bended over and took it from bush eh?
- dstart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Another mistake by Yahoo
- NeuralOverload, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yet another attempt to take away more of our constitutional rights...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yea if no personal info was released, who cares?
- engalicorn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Yo where's the movie playin'? Up in west side, dude.
Well let's hit up Yahoo Maps to find the dopest route.
I prefer Mapquest. That's a good one too.
GOOGLE MAPS IS THE BEST
TRUE DAT. DOUBLE TRUE! - atbnet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I guess the government doesn't have enough control over our lives.
***** YOU GEORGE BUSH!
The worse president I've never voted for. - Spybot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1why not use scroogle.org or clusty.com?
- delta013, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They said they "did not provide any personally identifiable information." Is that really such a big deal? All they probably want is statistics to prove their point. There are far more companies that know far more about us and what we do then the government. I think it's good that they are taking some action against porn.
- Jaymoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why does anyone care that X ammount of people searched for X on Yahoo/Google/Dogpile/MSN/etc.... ?
It's not like Yahoo is turning over logs (if they even have it), that says "John Doe searched for '12 year old lolita' at 10:03 PM January 20 2006 while he was at home (123 Fake St. New York, NY) watching NBC and also wearing his lucky red shirt... Oh yeah, and his birthday is next Tuesday, and he has cancer" - Metal_Hurlant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0slashdot? is that you?
- gfullert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At least they are not just rolling over for the Chinese government. This proves Yahoo is willing to be a stooge for whatever government puts pressure on them.
- caca4cocoPuffs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0POO on yahoo. too bad all of my friends use that piece of crap messanger service :(
- Hyperion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@caca4cocoPuffs: So use something like Trillian. =p
- CaughtThinking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yahoo did not give any personally identifiable data.
- ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yahoo just made it onto my firewall block list
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I knew there was a reason I disliked yahoo...
- towsonu2003, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0next, our email messages stored in yahoo's servers... time for gmail to get out of beta. and me completely switching to it.
- oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I perceive this, and several stories behind it, are like "Sleeping Dogs". Most of which are best left alone.... Ask that woman who had her face replaced....... And that was HER dog.....
Cyborg
nah - hibiscusroto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is anyone suprised by this?
- pheifdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yahoo has always sucked balls anyway... GOOGLE ALL THE WAY.
no digg - Entilza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0contuining from prior post... (digg does't like less than symbols...)
What it does it try do is restrict kids' (less than 18) access to what would otherwise be legal pornography for adults. The government is trying to reinstate this act, which was struck down by the supreme court. If the government is successful, it will not mean any less pornography of any kind. It will just make it harder for kids to get access to it, and be victimized by it. - Entilza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0From jkfan87:
>> They are going after illegal porn. Kiddie porn, etc.
Actually they're trying to uphold the "Child Online Protection Act", which does not address "Kiddie porn". What it does it try do is restrict kids' ( - rolandog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LOL... I wonder what will happen when the Bush Admin. Staff gets to look at my queries:
Tubgirl
Goatse girl
Bukkake
I'm pretty sure they'll stumble upon some interesting stuff. But nothing beats Google Seppuku:

- FRAGaLOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is incredibly stupid. It sounds like the government got data that was created back in 1998? Well if they needed data THAT OLD, Google didn't exist back then.
Besides, how do they know how old thier users were who might have been searching for porn on the net? And is it really Yahoo's fault (or any search engine's fault) since all seach engines don't require a login. Seaches are mostly annonoymouse as far as the search engine site is concered. Sure they can get IP addresses but I don't think anyone has the exact same IP address from - FRAGaLOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is incredibly stupid. The government didn't even ask, MS actually volunteered!
- kingygk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You Bush haters are Dumbasses Under the Clinton Administration Billy boy and Janet Reno forced all ISPs to use their carnivor email spying program and no one gave a rats ass about. it. Clinton was the biggest threat to this country ever. at least President Bush has the balls to stand up to the terrorists Billy also sold military secrets to the Chinese in exchange for dirty campaign money which is illegal. Billy was too busy lying to the country about keeping his dick in his pants and saving his presidency and kept osma bin laden go when he was handed him on a silver platter. He should have acted on the first world trade center van bombing but didnt. He was the worst and most embarrasing President this country has ever had. We will be paying for his mistakes for generations. Thank God for President Bush.
