- BrettFromTibet, on 12/03/2008, -0/+24Looks awesome! Much improved, not just an incremental bugfix.
- Eminemdrdre00, on 12/04/2008, -1/+18Im not a fan of the new UI. But I love automatic upgrading! Im currently running 2.7 RC1
Heres a screenshot of the final build:

- alecks, on 12/04/2008, -0/+8Yes, it upgrades wordpress itself. not the plugins
- NeoNevermore, on 12/04/2008, -2/+9That's what she said.
- edrift101, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6Wordpress.
- Elsewhere42, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6Dugg so I can fit in with the cool kids.
- kinggimped, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5I swear it prompts me to upgrade every time I sign in to the admin panel... so an automagical upgrader would be a bit of a godsend... instead of removing and replacing the \wp-includes\ & \wp-admin\ folders and then overwriting the contents of \wp-content\ each time... then doing it again a week later.
The UI improvements look great, too.
Doesn't seem like it's a huge upgrade, but I reckon the 2 new features will be pretty useful for the millions of Wordpress bloggers out there. - MtheoryX, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5There's no way I would even consider using a hosted solution, TBH.
Self-hosted FTW - jaygeeze, on 12/04/2008, -2/+7Yet another update, I hope this release focuses on increased security for a change.
- isdereks, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5Auto updates as in you can go into the Tools menu and initiate an upgrade when new releases are announced. Alternatively, a direct download link is available on that screen as well. Essentially, the feature is similar to the auto update feature currently used in 2.6 for upgrading plugins.
- Porkgod, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5WordPress, no question about it.
- derekteixeira, on 12/04/2008, -2/+7What would you guys say is better ... blogger or wordpress? thanks
- arjunprabhu, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4when is tomorrow ?
- jpkeisala, on 12/06/2008, -0/+4This was posted 2 days ago but I don't see download line yet on http://wordpress.org/
- audiophiliac, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Still think I'll wait until after a live version has been out for a week. I know it's sad that in this day 'n age. I wait a week for software to go live before I try it. In tech years 1 day = a year :P
- edrift101, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Nice! Hopefully, this release will fix the issues I've been having with thumbnails...
- derekteixeira, on 12/04/2008, -1/+5If its not too much trouble, would you mind telling me the benefits over Blogger? Thanks.
- abbathdoom, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4It never said it was a review numbnut, its a news item about it launching tomorrow.
- Schmich, on 12/04/2008, -1/+5Tomorrow on digg: "WordPress 2.7 is out"
In 1 day: "WordPress 2.7 has been out 1 day"
In 2 day: "WordPress 2.7 has been out 2 days"
etc.
Any day after the release: "WordPress 2.7 - The Review" - sloppychris, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4"I'm rubber and you're glue" up next?
- Linguo, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4Nice. I hope it's awesome.
- ronocdh, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Welcome to Web 2.0. Don't like it? Get out.
Personally I find it quite clean and pretty, and still incredibly functional. Part of me wants to ask what your specific complaints are with the new design, but the rest of me doesn't give a damn, so don't bother telling. - ronocdh, on 12/04/2008, -1/+5I do find this a very important release, but I'm not sold on the issue of automatic upgrading. As many've said already in this thread, WP releases aren't without their problems, and an auto-update feature would really hammer the servers when a new build is pushed, I think.
I imagine the logic here is that it's better to have people running newer buggy versions of WP than old buggy versions of it. - sfcaptainrob, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3Takes one to know one.
- morninglorii, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3Right now, on my plugins panel, under Akismet, it says "There is a new version of Akismet available. Download version 2.2.3 here or upgrade automatically." If I click on "upgrade automatically" and type in my FTP info, it upgrades for me.
Is there something about this "auto update" feature that makes it different from what's already there? - thebuggalo, on 12/04/2008, -1/+4I dugg you down because you're dumb, not to vote for my favorite blogging site... which is also dumb. take care!
- MrViklund, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3And?
- sloppychris, on 12/04/2008, -1/+4Not for wordpress itself.
- JasonHaley, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3"Comments (Used to be Comments)
This screen has a new layout, and action links appear on hover as with other table-based screens. “Awaiting Moderation” has changed to “Pending,” but the meaning is the same."
Finally! With a feature like that I'm surprised it's not a 3.0 version! - TaintBrush, on 12/04/2008, -1/+4What's so snazzy about automatic upgrading? The option to use SVN has been around for years already.
- alecks, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3WOW, what a huge penis!!
- lilykhanom, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3Woah... I never knew about them. It reminds me of how facebook's notes ..minus the extra junk.
- scubaninja, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2If you are so inclined, use this automated Perl script to do WordPress updates. WordPress updates take seconds, not minutes. It's really helpful, especially if you maintain more than one WordPress instance.
http://orbislumen.net/node/91 - erichh, on 12/04/2008, -1/+3Yeah, it's supposed to be like that.
I don't really like it - since the images are kinda what pulls me into the article when I'm actually visiting the page. - purseonality, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2I haven't looked at it yet--that makes me wonder if 'automatic' means 'unassisted' as in 'Microsoft Forced Auto-Updates' or merely 'from within the admin interface when I request the update and ONLY when I request the update.' Either way, I'd like to know if it has an "off" function.
- se7en11, on 12/04/2008, -2/+4you're trying to hard...
- diggdatt, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2This could be inaccurate is someone discovers a major bug today, then RC2 will be released instead.
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2I'm undigging this and burying it as inaccurate. It won't' be available on WordPress.org until later in the week as stated on the official blog. Only the main WordPress.com was updated.
- se7en11, on 12/07/2008, -0/+2Re-RFTA
- djAnakin, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2If you're putting adsense code anywhere other than the theme, you're doing it wrong.
- Cararan, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Looks very nice :D
- alencoral, on 12/06/2008, -0/+2Where it is?
- VelvetBlues, on 12/06/2008, -0/+2Lame. I want it on WordPress.org... I've been checking thrice daily.
- chrisbaskind, on 12/10/2008, -0/+2And they shipped a new release candidate tonight (10 December). WP 2.7 RC2
- abbathdoom, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2That sounds reasonable to me.
- JasonHaley, on 12/04/2008, -1/+3You can also check WordArc.com
Pros: You don't have to worry about set-up, views (since multi-blogs are incorporated), invasive-adverts or bugs.
Cons: You don't have control over the design, code, and it's closed. - MtheoryX, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2wat
- kinggimped, on 12/09/2008, -0/+1That wasn't a rant.
Nothing wrong with the new Facebook design, either. Far more functionality, looks just as appealing. What you're having a problem with here is *change*. Everything changes. Get used to it. - hullodare, on 12/11/2008, -0/+1I just upgraded and it went fine. No problems whatsoever. Check out my blog here: http://www.starttheinsanity.net/
