"This video is currently softcore. You can help Wikiporn by hardcoring it" - JHaze, on 01/19/2008, -1/+26Wow. Thats gonna be a pretty big endeavor, but it's a logical evolution of the site.
- eaglexro, on 01/19/2008, -2/+21"Kaltura videos can be created and edited by anyone, much like Wikipedia pages. You can also see previous versions of a video and a list of people who have worked on it."
That should eat up some resources... - AxemRed, on 01/19/2008, -1/+16That could really bog down Wikipedia.
- stutimandal, on 01/19/2008, -0/+7Competition with Google Knol has begun.
- inactive, on 01/19/2008, -1/+6When do we get the computer that can not lie.
If it can't prove and re-prove the subject matter it's left blank ? - Tophillious, on 01/19/2008, -0/+5Wow, if WP has terabytes of data just with text...
- DismantleRepair, on 01/19/2008, -1/+4Can't they just stick to linking to YouTube?
- rankftw, on 01/19/2008, -0/+3Maybe, but it will keep us entertained.
- Tripacer9999, on 01/19/2008, -1/+3Who's complaining?
- WaRdRivR, on 01/19/2008, -0/+2This is beginning to feel a bit Orwellian, but still...very intriguing! I'm just glad they're keeping the code open source!
- l0k0, on 01/19/2008, -0/+2This shows how it will work and shows the editor in action.
http://www.kaltura.com/devwiki/index.php/Tutorial - Alex2, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2I had a 'stern warning' from a moderator who was an 'anti youtube' zealot.
The mods are not neutral there, and some are on an Anti YouTube mission. - rye425, on 01/19/2008, -5/+7Great now were gonna have porn on wikipedia too.
- Aharoni, on 01/19/2008, -0/+2I have a feeling we're going to hear a lot of great stuff about Kaltura in the future!
- Varz, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2Hopefully the video quality will be better than youtube's.
- ikamos, on 01/19/2008, -0/+2Wtf? Knol isn't even out you dunce.
- bmerkl, on 01/22/2008, -0/+2also, check out: http://digg.com/design/2_8_Languages_of_Wikipedia_ ...
- Enjia, on 01/19/2008, -1/+3this is missionary style, this is doggie style, this is camel toe heaven style....
- Singularitarian, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2It will be a great step for society once you can easily find a good video explanation of any scientific/mathematical or academic topic that you'd like. Hopefully this is only a few years off. Teachers, if you haven't already, start recording all your lectures and putting them online.
- LonesomeFighter, on 01/19/2008, -3/+4so donate money so they can buy more servers
- threetoedkoala, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1Does wikipedia really need this? They should just link to a third party site that hosts the video service. Plus they could monetize the feature through a third party site with ads without changing their core model of begging for donations.
- moletimer, on 01/19/2008, -1/+2I think that may have been censored. WikiTruth will probably have the video somewhere.
I feel sick... - inactive, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1And you learned this how?
- nc0onc0o, on 01/19/2008, -1/+1Aw *****. Stupidity gains another foothold.
- inactive, on 01/19/2008, -1/+1I was just thinking, man "knows" so little, there will be a lot of free space on such a site...
- aidanh, on 01/20/2008, -0/+0I wish they would just improve their search box.
- cr3ative, on 01/19/2008, -2/+1What if we don't like the idea of video, but like the idea of freedom of information?
I regularly donate to Wikipedia, but if we couldn't donate for one or the other, I wouldn't donate at all. It seems like a really silly resource-hungry move which I wouldn't like to fund. - feacesface, on 01/19/2008, -1/+0Was the link description part of the leaked Scientology transcripts released today? Because you lost me after the 10th "wiki"-prefaced word.
- Andreasgalvaro, on 01/20/2008, -1/+0hmm.. i some how doubt that they will have any success with this. It seems they have to compete against bigger fishes in industry, like youtube.
Andreas,
http://autovit.info - warlokaz2004, on 01/19/2008, -2/+0video? VIDEO???? What a great way to spend that money they are always begging for. Please note my sarcasm. With dozens of 'free' services posting and sharing video's, why on Earth would Wikipedia want to create ANOTHER? Wiki will LOSE vs Google Knol if it keeps doing boneheaded moves like this.
- Xihix, on 01/19/2008, -3/+0Not really. Once again, videos have been on Wikipedia for a while. It's a matter of "not enough free use" videos that you haven't seen that many. And, secondly, there's no competition between Knol and Wikipedia. Knol will be more of a About than an encyclopedia.
- Xihix, on 01/19/2008, -5/+1Wikipedia already has videos, idiots. The "Ejaculation" article used to have one, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore
- cr3ative, on 01/19/2008, -7/+1duuuuuuuuude.
- ch0240, on 01/19/2008, -8/+2So I went over to my hippie neighbor's house and asked for a pot holder, he went inside and came out with a sandwich bag...... note to self new best friend.
