- greener, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think we will soon see FeeBay ads in our skype client...Och!! If they just needed the technology why no buy the Gizmo Project for much less?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1At least he took the time to write something constructive. Your comment adds no value at all - so why do we have to put up with your 'endless key fodder'. And PLEASE don't include any shameless plugs o your pointless site.
I think push-2-talk makes sense and will help eBay complete transactions in the same why that the acquisition of Paypal did. I agree though they overpaid - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does this mean that feebay will be charging EVERYONE to call each other??
- tghw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have to say, I think the author of this one is nuts...or if he's right, eBay is nuts. I would never want to have to deal with talking to buyers, that's the whole reason I'm selling on eBay in the first place. If they have questions, they can send them to me via eBay's existing 'Ask the Seller'.
My 2 cents ('cause I know you all care[sarc]), eBay has a huge market of people who are less technically savvy than the average Digg, or for that matter, Skype user. I think they're hoping to get Skype out to the noob masses using their current position as a site that everyone can use. - heydigital, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Skype is nice, but is it worth the 2.6 billion eBay paid!?
- odin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0probably overpaid?
- csopelario, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This quick, opinion, was whack... Hate Skype? Why... I used it to call Asia plenty of times and it has worked flawlessly. Now there may be Adds? Bunk! Anyways, this guys short article was common sense - The second I heard that eBay was thinking on buying Skype, I already pictured this... didn't everyone else (the business-minded folk)?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was under impression that eBay was buying skype so that I could leave negative feedback directly with my airhorn / progressively deteriorating turrets symptoms and talk smack during the closing minutes of an auction... if that's true, it was worth US$2.6bn.
> screw Skype I'm going with Gizmo now.
yes, but is Gizmo a decentralized P2P VoIP application incorporated in Luxembourg that thumbs it nose at CLEA and threatens to use strong encryption? Wait, I guess neither is Skype any more.
Oh, never mind, I just noticed that skype causes my WinTV PVR250 to progressively drop more and more frames.
Whoever buys Gizmo sure as hell ain't going to be paying a billion *anythings* for 'em.
Anyone ever notice that google talk and skype using the same VoIP engine? I think I'll just wait for google to get their ***** together (which will happen when they finally use their ICANN registrar status to create .tel top level and proceed to hand out phone numbers to everyone under the sun). If google is smart, they'll hire/acquire Zimmerman and spin the talk part of google out into an off shore company. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+03 words:
More ***** Fees - mercury81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0screw Skype I'm going with Gizmo now.
- cashoutcurse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0common sense.
- monkeybutler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great. Thats exactly what i want. A skype call from some sucker who 3x overpaid for one of my old video cards.
"Uh, can you help me. i cant figure out how to install this." or "you said it shipped but i didnt get it yet. i cant figure out how to track the package."
No thanks. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't forget that Skype is also a pretty decent IM Client/System.
I would not have a problem with some sort of "click to IM" you buyer, seller. Voice maybe thats a little too much, although for people that have "ebay-stores" that might be a good way for them to provide a little more personal customer service.
- mattza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seems like a great way to avoid ebay fees by using gizmo. $2 a call, thats ridiculous. They should just make it free, but I guess they did spend a couple billion. I thinking Skype won't get the other two billion that is based on performance, you could outperform two billion dollars?
- teacherG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think that article useless. It was a completely and editoral without any real facts:
"...I'm finally starting to understand..." , "I think eBay are also hoping..."
How about asking Ebay why they made, what looks to be, a stupid move. - sp4rky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0duh
- Thurloat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0cool idea, but i hate Skype ;)
are they going to use this in customer service? i always hated how bad eBay was with customer service. - jman420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Who takes the time to write such common nonsense?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0This title should be renamed to "My opinion on why Ebay bought Skype". I mean none of it comes from facts besides the endless key fodder that this bored individual took time and a few beers to come up with. No Digg.
