It's a decent story though. - inactive, on 09/12/2008, -24/+83Buried as spam.

Users just starting on Digg dont stand a chance. - inactive, on 09/12/2008, -9/+34MrBusinessMan is making money with his spam.
- indyGuy, on 09/12/2008, -2/+24As someone with a director account, I WANT people to download my videos. So that's why I link to my podcast site from youtube profile...
Of course, YouTube has no motivation to allow it. They want the traffic... - MapShatter, on 09/12/2008, -17/+32MrBabyman why are you still here? You have been called out as a fraud now twice and still are submitting stories. Why dont you just start your own website with feeds to arstechnica and reddit. It would be the same effect you have on here and I wouldnt have to weed through your crap.
- str1fe, on 09/12/2008, -2/+17apparently, 9/38 people aren't.
Also, I'm not. - inactive, on 11/13/2008, -5/+20me buried as spam too

- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -5/+12Dude, your top 3 friends are MBM, Saleem, and zaibatsu. It's people like you that perpetuate the problem.
Dump them, and don't digg their shouts. That would give new users on Digg a fairer chance. - ptheroux, on 09/13/2008, -1/+8Safari is available for Windows

- muleskinner, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5Rip from youtube, and convert .flv to a more useable format in two easy steps:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/300 ...
http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/
Or, just watch the flv's with:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - inactive, on 09/13/2008, -1/+6I'm definitely not.
- Obey666, on 09/12/2008, -3/+8MXtube for iphone dl's them
- xXShadowstormXx, on 09/13/2008, -5/+10Spam.
- PistolSO, on 09/12/2008, -1/+6I'm not either.
- Acglaphotis, on 09/12/2008, -2/+6Why are you getting downvoted? It's true, I do it all the time. If you're in linux you simply load the video in youtube and when you're done you go to /tmp/ and there it is, as a flv file (with no extension though).
- tonich03, on 09/12/2008, -1/+4what song?
- sq2shooter, on 09/12/2008, -5/+8I got one of those emails telling me to remove a video or allow it to be monetized. I removed it rather than have them make money off it. Especially since the reason for the letter was that there was some background music in my video. The song didn't even play through, only a snippet as background noise to a video that had nothing to do with the song. The stupidity of the whole thing was amazing. The video had over 30,000 views when I dumped it and they were getting free advertising of their song but not a complete version that someone could have stolen.
- bieber, on 09/12/2008, -3/+5I remember I always liked Google Video a lot, because it give a download link, which is awesome if you're on a GNU/Linux system without Flash (especially since the new YouTube player broke Gnash compatibility). When Google bought out YouTube, I was hoping it would happen there, too, but alas; it didn't.
- netneutrality, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2As a general method for Firefox regardless of platform, that works for almost all video sites, type about:cache in the url bar to check the on-disk location of the cache. Then go to that folder, sort the list of files by most recently modified first, and look for a biggish one. Copy + rename then play with any FLV player.
- tech42er, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2Don't worry; if you tube keeps this ***** up, the users will dump them. Sad because it's google, but there are so many other great video sites out there.
- GawtMilk, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2I clicked on a ~8MB link from YouTube, presuming it to be the video. It saved on my desktop as get_video
I rename this to, say, "youtube.flv" and play it in a FLV player?
Nice. - benologist, on 09/13/2008, -1/+3It's Raining Men
- lartones, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2I just wish they would upgrade the quality of youtube for us people who have high bandwidth. I guess I can dream of a day that youtube is in 720p. :(
- ethana2, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2Vimeo for the win.
- blackturtleus, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1There are quite a few free tools available to download videos from YouTube and elsewhere. In fact, they're so readily available and they've been available for so long that it seems odd that anyone would even bring up the question of downloading videos. I'm not thrilled with the FLV format, but there are also a ton of free players for those files too.
- sq2shooter, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1It was an old U2 song.

- igyigyigy, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1...ish
- aserer511, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1because they loose ad revenue, when you click rickroll.flv, instead of going to www.youtube.com/rickroll
- StevenBullen, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1@plimpton777
If you notice I don't digg em. I'm monitoring what they post and amazed how quick they accumulate diggs. - grumpyrain, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1I am Sparticus

- supertommy90, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1Clip nabber ftw :P, i love being able to put vids on my iphone
- ZGambit, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1ohhhh but you can download off Youtube videos.... I think this is a noob article =.= there are special apps and browsers which allow you to get the content.
Sorry I am not going to mention the method I download on Digg, it is too open and could cause legal problems.. because in truth the company that supports it would be subject to legal problems and I don't want to kill my downloading process =) -
