- swordedge, on 03/04/2009, -4/+93I want a cookie that I populate that tells it to not show me results from particular web sites. http://www.experts-exchange.com would be on my list because they want money for answers that are free elsewhere.
- HCviolence, on 03/04/2009, -1/+86Freedom of speech is worth the pitfall of loudmouthed stupidity.
- bobsacks, on 03/04/2009, -1/+37You do know you can just scroll to the bottom of the page for the answer? I have yet to find a Google link to that site that doesn't have the answers at the bottom.
- Swipecat, on 03/04/2009, -2/+36Mirror:
http://rorr.im
rror.im seems to be an "automagic" link for Digg mirroring - ileftfark, on 03/04/2009, -2/+35It pisses me off, too. Every time I google for an "expert sex change", this ***** pops up. WTF?
- clickfire, on 03/04/2009, -4/+29FTA: "Every few weeks or so, someone contacts me and says “Hey Matt, there’s page out on the web about me that I really don’t like. Is there any way to remove it from Google’s index?"
- wood144, on 03/04/2009, -1/+19That has been my experience as well, but it doesn't make experts-exchange any less annoying.
- GrooTheWanderer, on 03/04/2009, -1/+19Just submit the crazy person's site to DIgg, and then NOBODY will be able to load it. Muahahaha!!
- Scott2, on 03/04/2009, -0/+18One man's "crazy person" is a crazy person's "normal man".
- richgustavson, on 03/04/2009, -1/+18...unless you are the Chinese government.
- Scott2, on 03/04/2009, -0/+14YouTube hosts videos. Google is the "pirate bay" of search - it just points you toward stuff, it doesn't actually host it (unless you count cached pages). And you can exclude search spiders from your site using a simple header tag.
- DmtriPutin, on 03/04/2009, -1/+15Godforbid you just decide NOT TO go to that offending webpage!
- fuzzybad, on 03/04/2009, -0/+12So ExpertsExchange displays the answer for Googlebot so it gets on the first page of Google's search results, but hides the answer when a human hits the same link? Man, that's downright deceitful. Google should take this sort of behavior into account when ranking a site, it's as bad as keyword spamming.
- rwlib3, on 03/04/2009, -1/+11just click on the Cached page...always shows answers.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 03/04/2009, -1/+11Xbox live really pushes it sometimes.
- nextekcarl, on 03/04/2009, -0/+10That was a much more confusing URL before they added the dash.
- Narcism, on 03/04/2009, -0/+10It's like what duggmirror was, but it works!
- billessig, on 03/04/2009, -0/+9Actually if you sign in to iGoogle (and use their SearchWiki) you can remove results from your search, just not a whole site.
- HonoredMule, on 03/04/2009, -0/+9As pointed out in the article, web pages are already subject to law (incl. slander laws).
Google is not the law, so stop asking them for a preliminary judgment. - InfiniteNothing, on 03/04/2009, -1/+10Or you can check the cached copy
- Taiyoryu, on 03/04/2009, -0/+8-site:experts-exchange.com
- ajv570, on 03/04/2009, -1/+9no no no that makes FAR to much sense
- waspinator, on 03/04/2009, -1/+9looks like they removed this one
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -0/+8Why not try searching for amateur? Wait, scratch that.
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -0/+7get a court to agree with you! problem solved.
Google isnt the law..... yet - ThornHarvestar, on 03/04/2009, -1/+8If you go to the google cache of the experts-exchange site, the hidden replies are shown at the bottom of the page, as wood144 said.
I've solved a few IT problems thanks to this trick. - sexybobo, on 03/04/2009, -0/+7Here is a script to remove ExpertSexChange from google results.
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9462
or even better one that shows you the answers.
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/37941 - EXTER, on 03/04/2009, -0/+6Firefox + Greasemonkey + This script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9462
Will eliminate EE pages from Google searches. - maqikelefant, on 03/04/2009, -0/+6Buried for being Forbidden.
- sexybobo, on 03/04/2009, -1/+6You have the freedom of speech not the freedom to force people to listen to what you say.
Also the freedom of speech laws only say the US government can't censor what you say (within reason) it says nothing about private individuals preventing you from saying something on there private property which is what a website is in this case digg is Kevin's private property. - swordedge, on 03/04/2009, -2/+7don't want to scroll
lately, even that doesn't work
and yes, they are very annoying. - Issius, on 03/04/2009, -1/+6You can set it so that you can read all comments regardless of diggs. However, most people realize that the digg system is a good way to filter out garbage. Just because you can say what you want, doesn't mean that anybody cares, or has to care. Get over it.
- ayeroxor, on 03/04/2009, -2/+6"Why Google won’t Remove that Page you don’t like"
I would Like someone To explain Why you Capitalize the Stupid way That you Do. - creoderiot, on 03/04/2009, -2/+6unless that's a new development you are wrong about that. experts exchange is a pain
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -0/+4LOL, looks like EE members are out in full force.
Don't worry, whether I get dugg down or not doesn't change the fact that anyone in IT with a brain knows the site is *****.
Hell, read the comments above. Why do you think people make greasemonkey scripts or addons to remove their results? Random? - chriscalifornia, on 03/31/2009, -1/+5"they want money for answers that are free elsewhere." - Yeh like at the bottom of the page
- itschadwhitaker, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Very Nice. Awesome name too!
- LR2_, on 03/04/2009, -0/+4If you are logged in to google services, you can remove items from your own personal search results and even sort your favorite results to the top.
- nxxm, on 03/04/2009, -1/+5if you cant take the page down yourself, just link it at digg, and the direct linking and clicking retards will ((d)do (s)o) for you instead.
doh. - JCEEZ, on 03/04/2009, -1/+5i just buried you, and hopefully never have to see your comments again, because, unlike you, I know how to go to settings and make sure that is so.
- shrapnel09, on 03/04/2009, -0/+4I've never needed to use the cache. Experts Exchange has always had the loop-hole where you just scroll to the bottom and find the answer.
- Megor, on 03/04/2009, -3/+6Expert Exchange checks the referer tag, if it's from google you get the answer at the bottom of the page, but if you go to the link directly there is no answer on the page.
They are a scumbag of a website and I really wish google would do the right thing and ban them already. - Wareznuke, on 03/04/2009, -1/+4That thumbnail reminds of of the Lyrics to Nightman.
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_v6kwdQcsTYE/SUsRyYOWHdI/ ... - LebenOjanen, on 03/04/2009, -1/+4Amen to that. Google seems to have dozens of niche projects going in it's Labs but when it comes to something that could be an extremely useful and easy to implement feature, it's nowhere to be seen.
- newman8r, on 03/04/2009, -0/+3ok guys... 'freedom of speech' can refer to more than our first amendment right in the US.
I agree with tmcal to a certain extent, I think the dialog is much more open in an environment where you don't need to fear being banned or censored.
But on digg, even the comments that get dugg down are still viewable - in fact, I often enjoy checking out the comments that are below viewing threshold. I've been dugg down plenty but I've never had a comment removed - so I'm pretty happy with the digg system. - SawanM, on 03/04/2009, -0/+3Yes, mirror needed.
- MunroCool, on 03/04/2009, -0/+3http://rorr.im/
-> That's serious. - VenDrake, on 03/04/2009, -1/+3I hope the irony of a "403 Forbidden" error on this particular page is not lost on most diggers.
Thanks for the mirror. - ortucis, on 03/04/2009, -1/+3Is ir just me or all Google services (esp. Gmail) not working for others as well for like 24 hrs now?
(I think I read somewhere about services being down for 15 hrs) - buddamus, on 03/04/2009, -1/+3Forbidden
