- pupa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How about an RSS reader like in Safari?
- .mel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Read that link on tagging (http://wiki.mozilla.org/User:Dria/On_Tagging) It sounds awsome, some one make an extention for this quick, I dont want to wait.
- Nessguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The article did point out some new features for users.
- republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What is this firefox is this a.......................
Sorry about that, my computer froze while I was typing in Internet Explorer. - cavemonkey50, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ilyag
Firefox is suppose to be a minimalistic browser. If the developers of Firefox code for developers guess what you get? Improved extensions that can do the stuff you're talking about. That way if you want x feature, you can have it. Don't want it, you never have to see it. - raindog469, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm sure most of these developer-centric ideas will be implemented as extensions, not core features. Firefox is making too many people too much money now for it to revert to a hacker's toy again.
- AnotherName, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i don't know much about this, but can they build in the stupid "make firefox faster" things you always read about, ie "firetune?"
seems like the "tweaks" to make it faster should just be a part of the standard code that we all download.
MAKE IT FAST OUT OF THE BOX, BABY! - rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1currently:
Mem Usage: 90,316 K

And this is on just on this one page. If this isn't fixed soon, I am moving to opera. The only thing I'll miss is adblock, but I'm sure there is something similar for it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Opera isn't for me for many reasons.
Opera = Firefox without extensions
And since Firefox can have extensions it gets a +1 for me.
I admit that Opera is much faster and more java-friendly then Firefox, but the flexability of Firefox for each individual user makes it much better.
I've got extensions for things that Opera doesn't have and that makem my browsing much easier. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It would be nice if, sometime in the near future, I can check my running processes and see that, after several hours of use, Firefox is using up something LESS than several hundred megs of RAM. You know, just a thought.
- neocitron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1cool... i like Firefox but it's crap on OS X... waiting for Apple to do Safari 3.0 or maybe a better 1.5 Firefox for OS X
- TokenUser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Forget the features - that should be the work of extension developers.
Firefox needs to refocus on memory and rendering speed optimisations, and perhaps enhance the extension API support.
Do you really need python support built into a browser? - Spazkake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0neocitron check out Casino
- greenknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Firefox 1.5 does have fixes for the memory leak problem. In earlier versions, if you have this problem, minimize the browser window for 2 seconds, periodically. This will release memory.

Does no one know about the live bookmark feature in firefox? You can easily bookmark a RSS feed in the toolbar or in the bookmarks folder by following these steps:
1.) First, see if there is an orange icon in the status bar on the right. If so, click it and save it to wherever: toolbar or bookmarks (It's a blue ribbon if you're using Noia Extreme). If the icon is not there, proceed to step 2.
2.) Goto Bookmarks>Manage Bookmarks...
3.) File>New Live Bookmark...
4.) Type in the URL of the RSS (obtainable by right clicking the link to the XML file and clicking copy shortcut).
5.) If it is desired, drag the new live bookmark into the toolbar folder. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I hope in Firefox 1.5 they fix that memory leak thing. I'm a loser nerd and I spend hours at a time on the Internet and after so many hours Firefox is using more memory than I have RAM...
- wilsonics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Love the tagged browsing idea, plus a .mac like service for mozilla apps would rock.

Thank you Dria, and all who helped with this idea.
Cheers!

There is an extension for that: https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Bookmarks&numpg=10&id=998 - redguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DIGG effect :(
- LordJezo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Have they fixed the large font in the menus of the 1.5 thingy yet? I am holding off on upgrading due to that.
- doofus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about fix existing bugs prior to implementing new features you dumbass developers.
Its a pathetic state of affairs when you need to install an additional 1 gig stick of ram in order to run firefox. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the link is broken
- redguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0for all of you complaining about memory issues, they won't be fixed until 2.0 at least, due to general architecture issues (XUL, intensive use of Javascript for heavy tasks and other stuff).
And another thingie: don't complain that firefox is slow if you bloat it with tons of extensions. - redguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is an extension for firefox that allows viewing rss/atom feeds in the Safari or IE 7 way (Feedview - https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=445) which was supposed to be integrated by default in Firefox 1.5 but didn't make it due to the many bugs related to many xml related bugs.
- outz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Who cares about the major selling points of IE7? Go use ***** IE7.
- bariswheel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1SOMEONE TELL ME 2 THINGS.
1. WHEN IS FIREFOX 1.5 STABLE COMING OUT FOR BOTH PLATFORMS, OS X AND X86
2. WILL IT STILL BE A MEMORY HOGGER. I DON'T HAVE A GIG OF RAM.
VERY SIMPLE. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The kitchen sink thing is funnny.
- brickbat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I love Opera (faster, better rendering, etc, etc) and I would use it if not for the complete lack of a simple adblocking solution.
- movieguyjon, on 04/03/2009, -2/+1I'm happy and all that the developers can get their jollies from all of this...but I'd have to say that the users still outweigh the developers. If there's a more convenient/fun/easy browser come next year, screw firefox..
- Anth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I've got FF 1.5B2 on my lappy. Its better than 1.0x, but still is using like 100MB of ram with 5 tabs.
- dawks-, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Lets get to Firefox 1.5 first. This is rediculous. Release the friggin thing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1How about instead of focusing so goddamn much on creating tools for developers, create tools for USERS! You know, things like thumbnails of pages when clicking the Back button or hovering over a tab (things that more advanced web browsers already are implementing, and will be major selling points for IE7).
- EricTheGrey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Looks like they plan to force us into using a sidebar, which will cause me to have to change back to IE. I hate sidebars.
Pfft.

learn how to use firefox dumb ass!!!!!!! - quackdoc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Frankly, I am surprised, there is mention of Opera here at all. Minimalistic? My foot. FF is a plain vanilla browser that needs tonnes of crappy buggy extensions to make it work.
Why are people enthused about Internet Explorer? It has remained the same ever since it was launched....or when Microsfot took over that company which designed it in the first place. It isnt even Msoft's original.
Opera rules. Wait for the next version 9.0 and FF users would be squeaming soon.
