- GorfTron, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3210 Year computer predictions are so accurate, too!
- winmywii, on 09/07/2008, -0/+25Google is going to get too big and lose focus and some stoner kids in their moms garage are going to take over in 20 years with a new better product.
- KevinJim, on 09/07/2008, -0/+22World domination ? Oh and search brain option.
- MadeOfStars, on 09/07/2008, -1/+16In 2018, Google surpasses Microsoft in the software business.
In 2025, We will have computers that are more intelligent than people.
In 2035, Computers will have wrestled control of the entire economy from humans.
In 2040, Human beings are kept in zoos (probably something similar to The Matrix).
In 2050, AIs and ex-humans who converted to nonbiological entities now have converted most of the galaxy to computronium (An extremely dense computing substrate).
In 2100, Google surpasses facebook in the social networking scene. - primary0, on 09/07/2008, -0/+14it would suck big time when the wifi is down :P
- linuxlucas, on 09/07/2008, -1/+13Its from Terminator.
The company with the defective robots (which have perfect AI and the ships are automated) is Skynet.
The robots find John Conner to kill him to stop the human revolution, etc. - npsken, on 09/07/2008, -1/+135 is ????, dummy.
6 is Profit. - linuxlucas, on 09/07/2008, -0/+12Buried as inaccurate; World Domination isn't listed.
- Sabretou, on 09/07/2008, -1/+13Gmail Beta 2.
- primary0, on 09/07/2008, -1/+12How about Picasa and Chrome for Mac?
- chillypacman, on 09/07/2008, -2/+13heh, and they will be the new Microsoft.
- RonAcierno, on 09/05/2008, -1/+11What if they created an OS that was basically just a web browser and everything was done on the web?
- insanebrain, on 09/07/2008, -6/+14And what the ***** should that be ?? You need a OS to run a browser.
- oldgal, on 09/07/2008, -1/+9Microsoft will predominate in the corporate world for many years to come: 1) They are heavily invested; 2) Microsoft prices to keep corp. on the hook; 3) Corp. isn't interested in advertising revenue from usage; 4) Security concerns. I do expect Google to make great inroads with the home user and the small business market - the pricing can't be beat and the user interface/experience is much more intuitive.
- Zounas, on 09/07/2008, -0/+75. Realise it's "John Connor"
6. Find John Connor - Redge, on 09/07/2008, -1/+8I'm sure Google will enter the ISP business and I'm sure we're gonna see a Linux distribution made by Google in the coming years.
Wait and see... - eq2s, on 09/07/2008, -1/+8Google will be doing things in 2018 that we can't imagine now. Just like it is doing things now that we could not imagine in 1998.
- muppetman2000, on 09/07/2008, -1/+8How about an article that doesn't state the obvious:
'here's what i believe' ........ yeh and about a million other people - winmywii, on 09/07/2008, -2/+8That's the thing I don't get. Why do I want to have all my ***** moved online? When there is no connection I am SOL.
- Rudegar, on 09/07/2008, -0/+62140. Resistance is futile You will be assimilated
2160. ????

2. Y
3. ????
4. Profit - jpt62089, on 09/07/2008, -0/+6Nope, that comes out a year after Apple goes out of business...
- winmywii, on 09/07/2008, -2/+7Where the hell does this stupid joke come from? I've been reading it for years and I have no idea, I just pretend I do and digg up the comments.
- Twee, on 09/07/2008, -1/+6I think thats what chrome is more or less. What other web browser has a task manager??
- riptor666, on 09/07/2008, -1/+6The Gphone perhaps. Then Google can use their mind control waves to finally take over the world.
- fr0mundacheese, on 09/07/2008, -5/+10"Ultimately, we will look back on 2008 as the year Google began to seriously derail Microsoft's attempts to create a major Internet presence. "
Really? I figured that looking back; 2008 would be the year I was force fed advertising featuring Michael Phelps. - oldgal, on 09/07/2008, -0/+5Operating systems handle boot-up sequences, translation (through drivers) and communications for hardware devices, as well as application program management, primary security and a few other thingies. The desktop is a presentation layer that may or may not be built into the operating system. Application programs rely on the operating system for these services (this is why you don't have to worry about what brand/model of printer, disk drive, etc. is going to be used when you write an application program. A browser is an application program. Google doesn't need to develop an operating system (much bigger deal than developing a browser), because they can use the browser to integrate web-based applications (i.e. have applications communicate with each other). So chrome will handle communications between web-based applications and leave primary task management and hardware communications to the operating system. I haven't tried it yet, but I assume I will be using Chrome when I am doing application based stuff (photo album, web page creation, word processing, blogging, social networking, etc.) but still use Firefox when I am just snooping around the net.
- 007isbond1, on 09/07/2008, -1/+5already been done. http://g.ho.st
- chedabob, on 09/07/2008, -0/+4Psst...Apple and Google buy companies that create cool technology too.
- mynameistux, on 09/07/2008, -2/+6lol, I loaded this page a few minutes ago, and when I dugg this comment a few seconds ago, it already had 11 diggs.
- WaveRunningNakd, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3Google will help bring The Singularity.
- Exzhaton, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3New, User Friendly, Easy to Search World Order
- jasonaltenburg, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3Google is big brother.
It really has a Task Manager?
/me goes to check - hank22, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3And why should anyone care about what you have to say?
- crispytown, on 09/07/2008, -1/+4Number 2,3,4,5,6 will also be what Google will be doing.
- cpsutcliffe, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3So...
Super fast broadband, a web-hosted OS Image like a LiveCD and a BIOS that can boot from the Network.
Considering people have done this, and people are still working on doing this faster... I can see this being a perfectly viable option within 10 years.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_booting - thanasiskap, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3We don't know who struck first, us or Google. But we do know it was us that scorched the internet. At the time, it was dependent on internet. It was believed it would be unable to survive without an energy source as abundant as the net.
- BrokenCircle, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3Google needs to hurry up and buy Sun Microsystems and Texas Instruments then partner up with IBM.
- DracoFlameus, on 09/07/2008, -1/+3I shudder to think of such a distro by google... everything you do there will be transfered directly to them. I don't know why ppl believe google is better than microsoft... it is a competitor, yes, but they also like their home-phoning apps as much as MS does.
- bizchris, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2@primary0 and @winmywii, isn't that where Google Gears comes in handy?
- Rudegar, on 09/07/2008, -2/+44)ruin it somehow

- Feej, on 09/08/2008, -0/+2Anti-Trust Lawsuit is somewhere in their future.
- ubundriva, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2As long as they take care of us like we do for pandas, I have no major problem with the zoo part, except for the arranged sex.
- FutureGuy, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1So would every other tech company in the world. Unless of course Google take over the intertubes and kicks out everyone who doesn't agree with it, quite possible since they already pretty much own the internet.
- SpaghettiTeapot, on 09/07/2008, -1/+2I, for one, welcome our new Google overlords.
- inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1The system goes on-line August 4th, 2018. Human decisions are removed. Google inc. begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th."
