- etandrib, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Then Flickr users would be REALLY pissed because they would have to change their login again.
- slps, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17I would still use Google.
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16What's with all the negativity? If Microsoft bought Yahoo, then perhaps there'd finally be a company that can compete in the online space with the big guys like Google, Amazon, and eBay. We might finally have decent enough competition to get the already established big names to improve their products, rather than ride the wave of their wealth.
- kevincannon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I don't even know why microsoft needs a search engine.
- ir6c, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11YGA -Yahoo Genuine Advantage?
- hello2usir, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15As if it didn't already.
- Morky, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13What if Microsoft bought Hotmail? Oh, they did. And they screwed it up.
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -1/+9popularity != quality product

14 results - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Ditto. I would delete my yahoo account and use something else.
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Yeah, it's not like millions upon millions (Hundreds of millions IIRC) are already using Passport (Hotmail and the like).
Are unicorns fun trg ? - papayiya, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Its so ridiculous to think that Yahoo would be taken over my M$ - you do realize that Yahoo is a $32B company!?
Besides that, Yahoo has re-positioned itself as a PHP company, for goodness sakes Rasmus (the founder of PHP) works for them.
There are all these rumous of potential private equity takeovers, but be realistic -- if Yahoo is to be taken over, it would mark the largest private equity deal of all time. Yahoo is not going to be taken over by M$ -- I would see an AOL/CNet/eBay/Skype deal before I would see that - llbbl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8What if Microsoft Bought Yahoo? ... I would stop using Yahoo. simple as that.
- jakebarnes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9It would crash alot?
- stisaac, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10This is similar to:
What if Microsoft bought eBay?
What if Microsoft bought George Bush?
What if Bill Gates personally bought his own small island of the coast of French Polynesia?
Nobody cares, because it won't happen, except perhaps the tropical paradise. - JimMessenger, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13Microsoft would finally have a decent search engine.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Yeah we know that hotmail is a big failure. Not.
- beggersfunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It doesn't matter for me if Microsoft bought Yahoo. I still use Google for my main Search engine and mail. Who use Windows Live serch? I never use it coz i am so use to Google. And i don't even use Yahoo as well.
- buddyw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I would also cancel my yahoo mail account (that I love) just out of principle. I don't support companies that try to create DRM monopolies. (unfortunately this philosophy keeps me away from a lot of companies: Apple, Microsoft, Sony, etc.) I don't know where I would go since I am not a big fan of gmail.
They would probably migrate us over to windows live mail, which requires Internet explorer. Also, passport makes me cry. - user777, on 10/12/2007, -16/+19Google would still come out on top.
- xs650, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I would also cancel my Yahoo E-Mail account of many years that I have had through many ISPs.
- ir6c, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wonder if they could add DRM to a search?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8yahoo wouldnt work anymore.
- tshawkins, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Hmmmm, google is pulling out pages that dont contain the exact phrase, just some of the terms, whereas the other two are doing an exact phrase search, as requested.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2just give alot more people a reason to go with linux or MAC ......
- DragonI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Holy crow this is coming from Jeremy Zawodny who actually works at Yahoo. Hum, wonder if he's looking for a package!
- Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I guess the plus part of it would be my Yahoo E-mail would work with POP3
- duxxyuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm afraid looking for music is against company policy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just like they did not allow giant AT&T death star to be rebuilt.
- ggriffit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2...I'd still use my Mac with Google stuff and avoid Yahoo's ads and Microsofts unstable software.
- wonboodoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Agreed, you may as well plant a sign on your back that says "hi investors! please sue me!". While you may work at Yahoo now, I doubt you will for much longer once your corporate governance people see your article.
- atgunning, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4You, Sir, are a moron.
- Morky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@CBTF
Hotmail was popular before Microsoft bought it. It also had more features, was faster, and easier to use. See how many Hotmail users are left in 5 years after Gmail has fully taken it's place.
That doesn't mean it wasn't valuable for Microsoft to buy it. Yahoo would be valuable to them, too. And then, slowly and insidiously, it would start to suck. - OmegaGreg, on 02/01/2008, -0/+1They finally did today.
- ursulaverghese, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@hello2usir:
Looks like you have never used Yahoo! Answers, Flickr and many other Yahoo! services. - animefx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, Yahoo and Apple worked out a deal to offer PUSH email access to those with Yahoo accounts. If MS bought Yahoo that could be problematic.
- miaow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they are trying to do google/yahoo with 'live'. if that fails they might just buy the opposition. if they used their old tactics, everyone would just move away to google.
- OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What If You Went Back To Work?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe it's the new 'at&t'
- zeejay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The Federal Trade Commission would not allow the acquisition to happen.
- Langford, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It had better not effect my E-mail account.
- wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3A search engine and a BSOD.... hmmmmm?
- woadlined, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The commercials would definitely suck worse.
- ChillHomie, on 10/12/2007, -14/+14Microsoft kicks ass
- traverse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Who cares?
Yahoo has been a Microsoft lapdog for years now. What difference would it make? - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2you're a moron for saying you work for Yahoo when posting this. Even if you don't know anything, it doesn't matter
Hopefully Yahoo doesn't have a policy like Apple, you'd be fired within 45 seconds - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3yahoo is still around?
- wonboodoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@patik
Quality product is not important. Popularity is king. See: Windows. - hello2usir, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I don't use Flickr. I absolutely detest Flickr.
Nice try though. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"Mi-Hoo" got you by the balls now!
